Hey Many, regarding the Arrowverse jump, will there be a companion import option? Would there be an option to import or use more than 8 at once?
>>
>>45090346
Destined to return and shitpost during /jc/'s most dire hour.
>>
I've got another perk for the Star Wars jump that I'd like feedback on.
I Don't Come Cheap [100cp]: The more well know you are within a group or organization the better you will be payed. Even if your employers don't like you they'll still agree to pay you twice their usual rate because they heard you killed the fifth deadliest man in the galaxy or saved the child of an important politician. You can get up to 3x your original payment with this ability. (Free: Bounty Hunter)
>>
>>45090560
>know
*known
>>
>>45090560
It's "paid".

That said - would this perk also guarantee the payment, or only works if the employer is not a traitorous piece of shite?
>>
>>45090560
Ooh, I like that one. I mean, in theory it's nothing you couldn't do on your own if you have a strong reputation, but this guarantees it. And a lot of 100CP perks are "things you could do anyway, but now it's certain", so I'd say that's around the right level of power.
>>
>>45090560
I like this, but >>45090596 raises a good point about how BH are betrayed in canon. Maybe add some verbage about how even if you are betrayed, you can find a way to get what you're owed from your former employer?
>>
reading through last thread I saw that Path of Exiles got brought up. tera don't touch it, there's already a PoE jump in the works
>>
>>45090651
Good idea, sounds much simpler than what I was thinking of.
>>
>>45090666
Given the lack of grammar your post displays, gentle Anon, I have no greater hope in your ability than in Tera's.
>>
>>45090704
Sure, you realize how easy it is to mimic styles right? I'm not really too concerned in how much hope you have, I just don't feel like fighting with Tera in another debacle like what Borderlands had.
>>
>>45090728
Just pokin' fun at ya, m8. I'm sure you'll do fine, I just saw your Tera-level grammar and wanted to bust your balls a bit.

There's always companion imports in my jumps. As for more than 8, eh. Both these settings you have a small number of people working together. However if you want to make your own Justice League I'll allow it.

As for someone in the other thread saying about the magic and occult knowledge. Would you want me to put it you'll be near Constantine's level after a few years?
>>
>>45091569
>Constantine's level
So... Casually walk out of afterlife? Me like.
>>
>Updated Sailor Moon Jump last thread
Pretty solid, I like the new drawback a lot more than the old one, though I can't help but notice that we now have both a "bring people back from the dead at a great cost" perk and a "the heroes are dead" perk in the jump.

That combination sounds like it could lead to some good writing.

>I did what I had to do to save the world
>>
>>45091674
There were new perks?
>>
>>45091642
>Casually walk out of afterlife?
I was about to object to this being too powerful, but it occurs to me that this probably wouldn't be too useful if you get sent home before you can do it.
>>
>>45091569
Doesn't he use magic to time travel and make up his own bullshit luck? Isn't that a bit much?
>>
>>45091692
I think Asura's Wrath has something like that to be fair.
>>
>>45091692
Asura's Wrath has a perk which blatantly allows that.
>>
>>45091688
No, the perk was there in the earlier version. The drawback that you might be tempted to combine it with is new, however.
>>
>>45091692
There's already a version of it in Asura's Wrath, right? And you don't even lose the chain. It takes a while though.
>>
>>45091708
>>45091711
"Casually" is the word I had a problem with, the perk in Asura's Wrath makes it sound like coming back to life is very difficult.
>>
>>45091714
You can still lose the chain if you die, because it's impossible to climb out within the 10 year time limit.
>>
>>45091736
Is it being a bit nitpicky? I think perks like from Asura's Cryin and a few other places let you move to other dimensions, including the setting's heaven or hell etc.
>>
>>45091790
Yeah but those don't ignore the death rule. If you die, you still lose.
>>
>>45091808
I wasn't aware we were doing all that now.
>>
>>45091760
What do you mean? If you're fast enough, it should be possible.
>>
Oh my fucking god, can we have at least one 'cheat death' thing go past without somebody bitching.

Everybody's fifteen kinds of immortal, invulnerable (or close to it) and all that shit by now, the dying clause is never going to be a thing.
>>
>>45091760
Unless you've established infrastructure to feed you prayer while dead, then it accelerates your climb. Though that's hardly casual, and I can think of a good many other schemes to set up ways to cheat death through heavy investment of resources prior to it.
>>
>>45091833
I mean, when fucking Minecraft can essentially make you invincible, it's gone a bit far.
>>
>>45091790
My issue is the phrase "casually walk out of the afterlife" suggested, to me, the ability to trivialize death. I don't know anything about Constantine and thus have no idea how accurate that is, but that's what I initially thought it meant. If that is what it means, I don't think it should be offered to jumpers without some kind of limitation because that sounds like it would make jumpchain completely impossible to lose under normal circumstances. The perk in Asura's Wrath is find because it mentions that coming back to life is balanced out by extreme difficulty.

If it instead just means you can casually leave Heaven or Hell if you end up there without dieing, then I think that's fine.
>>
>>45090666
So uh. What's Path of Exiles about anyway?

>>45091811
Wait, doing all what? Dying? Ignoring the death rule? Nitpicking?

I just got back from dinner. I'm so lost.
>>
>>45091833
Welp.

There it goes.

The last fuck I have to give about this place.
>>
>>45091933
Why are you letting one random anon condemn all of us? This wouldn't be a discussion if everyone agreed with him, and I think that's the only time I've seen that view.
>>45091928
Ignoring the death rule. I thought we were just talking about moving between dimensions.
>>
>>45091916
Well even if coming back from death is easy, it won't matter in the chain because you die you lose, you know? I'm not sure what he meant either to tell you the truth, but even if he meant your worst fear it still would lead to losing the chain.
>>
>>45091928
Diablo style ARPG set on the tropical coastline region of a land called Wraeclast, which originally was colonized by a Mayan influenced civilization called the Vaal. Later human colonies were affected by the Vaal practices and over time the land was warped by the same practices that led to the downfall of the Vaal empire. Flash forward to present day, where Wraeclast now serves as a sort of penal reject colony for a mainland never really described, but the civilization on the island itself has transformed as the Exiles discover more about the lost Vaal civilization again.
>>
>>45091833
Speak for yourself, shithead.
>>
>>45092005
Ah, so kinda like Diablo meets Dark Souls 2. Neat.
>>
>>45091569
Just make sure when you write up the magic perk you aren't suggesting that you can work or get to Zatanna level/style magic. The backwards speaking might lead some people to that conclusion and Zatanna magic, while awesome, is insanely OP.
>>
>>45091569
Sorry, I meant >>45092093 to be a suggestion. Rereading it makes it seem more imperative.
>>
>>45091933
But anon, I care about you.
>>
Jumpers, who is the one person that you will protect above all others, at any cost?
>>
Constantine from the show wasn't as powerful as he was in the comics. Go watch the show, he's basically a dabbler in all magic. The show was canned but hey, it was good while it lasted. Also he was in the Arrow S4 bringing back Canary with Lazerus Pit. He's still powerful mind you, but he's not like his comic version where he's walking out of heaven and hell on a lunch break.
>>
>>45092217

A shame really, it was a lot better than the Dresden Files show.
>>
>>45092093
Television Zatanna isn't that impressive is she?

>>45092259
Not that that's saying a lot. But yeah, I really liked Constantine, too.
>>
>>45092199
My wife that I met in Pokemon.
Really, I'd go to bat for all of my companions, but for her and our mistresses, I'd brave the very specialist of hells.
>>
http://pastebin.com/Lfp7fav1

Changes:
Occult Knowledge & Magical Knowledge rewrote so that it doesn't imply you're the best thing ever, right out the bat.

Your magic at beginning is average strength but very versatile. You have great magical potential which allows room for growth.
>>
>>45092352
I honestly don't even remember her being in the show. His writeup made me think of her, though, and the potential problems with her magic. That's why I made the comment that I did.

>>45092217
I read a bit where they're considering him for S2 of LoT. It sounds like they're going to have a rolling cast they swap out each season.
>>
>>45092454
Was she your starter?
>>
>>45092482
Nah, that'd be kinda wierd.

She was just an ordinary trainer whom I met and journeyed with while on my way to getting my Gym Leader's certification.
>>
>>45092564
So you used Return and a pod to pick her up, then? Because I don't think there's any other way to get a non-Pokemon companion out of Pokemon Trainer.
>>
>>45092632
Yep.
Totally worth it, both for her and because Pokemon is, as far as universes go, not a terrible one to spend an extra ten years in.
>>
Oh real quick update note, I put back in about the magic having a cost. Also noted that simple magic doesn't require much but a gesture. More powerful the magic more complex it gets. However thanks to Constantine style of kelptomagical styles you know shortcuts. Just like Constantine himself does in the show constantly.
>>
>>45092656

Was it hex Maniac?
>>
>>45092471
Oh right. I was thinking of Smallville Zatanna.
>>

>>
>>45092732
I remember him doing magic to assist cons like that. Stuff that the Doctor would use his psychic paper for.
>>
>>45092456
Exactly how versatile/powerful can you become? Where would you end up on the comics totem with a lifetime of training?
>>
>>45092761
Didn't he literally have a playing card that was pretty much psychic paper?
>>
>>45092782
As I remember, John was always more con than proper sorcerer. Yeah, he could do magic, but mostly he was a cheat that tricked people and entities into defeating themselves. Late stage Constantine did as much through the power of his reputation as he did through actual action.

When he /did/ do magic, it usually ended in someone being killed or damned.

It is not a good thing to be John Constantine's friend.

>>45092805
Pretty much.
>>
>>45092732
If I remember right he lifted a paint can. Anyways it doesn't matter, doing small magical stuff like that with just a gesture isn't gonna break the jump.
>>
>>45092715
No, close though.
Beauty from Kalos.
>>
>>45092841
Hellblazer John rarely used much magic.

In the Nu52 he's much more liberal with throwing around flashy magic.
>>
>>45092904
Nu52 is . . . ugh, I fucking hate it and I hate going off about it because it just comes across as bitching about the new thing to bitch.

I /love/ the idea of Justice League Dark, but I loathe the approach they've taken to it. By and large I prefer how DC used to handle magic and the supernatural.
>>
>>45092966
Bitch, please, anon. Get a conversation going.
>>
>>45092966
I feel you, man. I really liked Shadowpact and was hoping for JLD to be like that.
It didn't take long for those hopes to be dashed.

I don't read many comics, but I can guarantee you I hate the new Lucifer comic series more than both of you hate all those series combined.

Yes. That's right. Some daft bint is writing a sequel to Lucifer.

As in, that comic series that literally ended perfectly with Lucifer finding true freedom by flying into the void/fourth wall.
>>
>>45093132
I wonder how bad it'll be. Comics have turned to shit.
>>
>>45093132
I didn't know there was a new Lucifer series, but I thought N52 Lucifer was just a stereotypically evil asshole?
>>
>>45093066
Old Hellblazer and Constantine was . . . Lovecraftian in its approach to magic. You didn't use it flippantly, and if you did you would get bit in the ass. Magical creatures still did magic easy breezy, but magical creatures were a big deal. Now that was magic in Hellblazer, some other properties treated it differently and were lighter hearted at times. But Hellblazer shared the same DC continuity with Sandman and the Endless, and they were pretty firewalled from mainstream DC. It was more mature, in terms of themes and overall narrative.

Nu52 is more or less Charmed wearing DC capeshit cosplay. Magic has a price, kinda, but its more ubiquitous and cheaper. I wouldn't mind any of that, mind you, as a different property. It just isn't what I wanted out of JC or Hellblazer.

Also, Justice League Dark was built up to be more adult and interesting but it was more or less what the title implies: magical Justice League with bullshit CW'esq interpersonal drama.

>>45093132
Lucifer was amazing in the Sandman books. It a shame they're fucking with that.
>>
>>45093254
Comics have always been shit. You're just older, have some more discretion, have read better, and... well, it's like 4chan.

Comics were never good.

They were never this bad, either.

(And okay, there are some fantastic issues or storylines. They've always been rare, and it feels like they've just become more so.)
>>
>>45093132

Please tell me that it's either a parody or focused on other characters?

It might be tolerable if it's something like the adventures of God Girl, or a series about Delerium.

Wait never mind it's a comic the later is overworked.
>>
>>45093254
Oh. Oh, you wanna know how fucking bad it is?

YAHWEH IS DEAD

Yes. That's right. The no-bullshit omnipotent God. The guy who instigated and brought about Lucifer's entire character arc, established to be COMPLETELY omniscient. The dude who's so omnipotent he was able to also look away to create a little uncertainty for himself near the end. The being, in short, established to be absolute in every sense of the word.

The angels are currently trying to figure out who killed God. And because I have a morbid fascination with tranwrecks that shit on my nostalgia, Lucifer has apparently been wounded by some sort of living metal that is also the same kind of metal that was apparently used to kill God.

No, they haven't shown God's corpse on-panel. Just a sort of crack in reality the angels are poking at.

>>45093333
>>45093291

Won't lie: The Sandman and Lucifer are the only ones I've ever really gotten into, so I wouldn't know anything about New 52. A lot of my salt comes from someone trying to milk the latter for sequels.
>>
>>45093423
>The Sandman
That an its spinoffs, the stand alone books about Death and magic, are some of the best, if not the best, stuff you're going to read from DC.
>>
>>45093333
Well, there's bad, and then there's this. Not edited, by the way. This is how they made it.
>>
>>45093416
I'm sorry to tell you but nope. Lucifer comes back with a wound. For some reason he decides to start a nightclub. The other angels find out Nietzsche's wet dream has come true, find Gabriel (who's a drugridden human for reasons I think are explained in Constantine, which I never read) and basically offer to restore his angel powers in exchange for hunting down Lucifer. Then Lucifer tells him he doesn't know who killed Yahweh either.

God girl doesn't even get mentioned.

Meanwhile, Mazikeen is on the throne of Hell calling bullshit on being told Lucifer has returned, and quite frankly I feel like she's my personal self-insert even though she only has one panel.

>>45093471
Well, shit. There goes any interest I had in reading comics other than those that they made.
>>
>>45093480
You have got to be kidding me. That's unedited? That is the most pandering, cheap tripe I have seen in years. I am so glad I don't collect that shit anymore.
>>
>>45093480
This is almost as bad as WW's whip getting defeated by "mansplaining".
>>
*start a nightclub again

I feel I should emphasise this point; he closed down his /old/ nightclub in Lucifer and the whole comic was about him letting go of the past and coming to terms with himself.

Oh, and now for some reason he disrupts the natural order of the world just by existing. As opposed to earlier where it's explicitly stated he dindoo nothing to humans they didn't bring upon themselves. They might explain this as him returning from the Void to a new creation or some shit, but I'm not optimistic if that hasn't been made clear.
>>
>>45093568
So it's not a reboot? It's a sequel to the old Lucifer comic? Sounds like a mess.
>>
>>45093560
>>45093564
It'd be one thing if they actually made a character like that and justified it and wrote him out, as retarded and pandering as it would still be, but nope. Didn't even try. Just made this guy randomly start screaming things the people they believe read comics don't like, summarized as little black bars that are little more than "Hate him." labels.
>>
>>45093676
Haven't comic sales been taking a nosedive recently?
>>
>>45093709
They've been nosediving forever, and this kinda writing has just accelerated it. But media companies don't really think these days, they just check out their twitter feeds, or pay someone else to.
>>
>>45093709
For good fucking reason, you can find most of them online easily, and they've been nosediving in quality.
>>
>>45093522

On one hand this is stupid.

On the other it's still a better explanation for stuff like the disaster Pandora was trying to stop and the later reveal that she's actually a reoccurring multiverse destroying disaster.

Which doesn't really help with the stupid at all.

I'm going to just assume Lucifer and Yahweh flew too close to one of those Marvel crossovers, and got hit with bullshit cosmic destructive stuff from the explosion, because I might as well go full refuge in audacity with how stupid this is.
>>
>>45093631
Yeah. Should've made that clearer: More than anything, the concept of a sequel to Lucifer makes me saltier than the Nevada border
>>
>>45093709
The comic industry is operating at a loss these days. It's at the point where they're only writing them so they can maintain copy rights for movies that actually pull in money.
>>
>>45093749
Yeah, that's both stupid and unnecessary. Though it does explain the "disrupts the natural order just by existing" thing. Of course he's a walking transgression of the natural order, he's from back when the DC universe wasn't complete tripe. The awful world it is now would naturally reject something such as him.
>>
>>45093560
IIRC, the comics being told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator.
>>
>>45093738
Wait...what? As in, SHE is the disaster?

And you know what, that makes as much sense as anything. During the comics Lucifer flies past the Source-basically the consciousness of the DC universe-on his way to somewhere more interesting.

But fuck, I really hope the comic isn't going to be about the Source murdering Yahweh and gloating about it. Because that's stupider than any powerlevel argument even these threads have ever had

>>45093805
Ha!

It's noticeable that for whatever reason Elaine Belloc isn't mentioned at all by the angels, or anyone else for that matter. Amongst other things Lucifer gave her some advice about not screwing up as God when he left. Clearly, something must have happened to her for things to go so wrong.
>>
>>45093848
My guess? The whole thing about Elaine's friend being the goddess of hedgehogs while Elaine was the goddess of everything BUT hedgehogs backfired on them. There was a threat that could only be stopped by the power of hedgehogs, and without it she was killed.
>>
>>45093839
That might make it better in some respects, but it's still a cheap play for brownie points.
>>
>>45093480
This is a joke, right? Please tell me it's a joke. Please.

I'm begging.
>>
>>45093848

>Wait...what? As in, SHE is the disaster?

I have no clue if she was meant to be that specific approaching disaster that lead to New 52, but she is a multiversal level disaster.

Basically there's these seven demons called the seven deadly sins that regularly get into a fight with her that destroys the multiverse and makes a new one. However these demons are not just demons but the incarnations of her sins. This battle constantly reoccurs with them forgetting it until it's time to kill each other and the multiverse again.

Apparently the cycle breaks, but it says really bad things when the inner demons of the person worrying about a cosmic disaster regularly break reality.
>>
>>45093912
It's not a joke.
>>
>>45093888
Of course, it all makes sense now! Lucifer was penetrated by some sort of bullshit that was also used to kill Yahweh.

And as everyone knows, the hedgehog can never be buggered at all!
>>
>>45092199
"At any cost" always sounds like a failure of the imagination more than something someone could actually do.

>>45093912
It's probably just a writer bitching about their comments section on their blog or something.

>>

Grodd doesn't have tech in this one. He's a psychic gorilla that was part of the military's experiments in brain boosting. He was getting smarter, but he wasn't "turn everyone into apes" type deal. They sent him to Earth 2, Gorilla City where similar gorillas live.

If you haven't watched the show, please do. Otherwise don't ask silly Comicbook questions about the TVerse. That's like asking is Superman going to kill the Joker in Batman vs Superman, because he did so in a comic.

It's a Brandon Sanderson novel set in a world regularly wracked by huge hurricanes (like, every couple weeks), which has influenced its evolution to be a very alien landscape to the typical fantasy world. Humans are implied to be alien to that world, having fled their to escape...something. It's not clear what, the narrative has been relatively vague about the threat so far, but it's something bad. Anyway, it's a weird world. Most of the life forms are either crustaceans or fish, with even the role of birds being replaced by "sky-eels". The plants are all motile, able to fold themselves into protected casings that can better survive the storms. Said storms carry a mystic "stormlight" energy that embeds itself in any previous stones exposed to it, providing a source of light that can also be tapped by magic users for fuel (though of the original thirty magic systems used on the world of Roshar, only one still survives to the modern day). And everywhere you go there are the spren, minor spirits of concepts from the mundane to the abstract. Water spren gather by lakes, fire spren dance around every candle, pain spren are a common sight on battlefields and liars put a lot of work into avoiding attracting spren of anxiety or shame. It would be a very fun place to visit, if only because the descriptions make it sound so pretty.
>>
>>45095568
Sounds like my kinda place.
>>
>>45094815
How come you havent exploded yet?
>>
What are the limits of the Doormaker power's ability to travel to alternate universes? Can you use it to go to a fanfic version of a world?
>>
>>45096012
No, not unless the fanfic is canon.
>>
>>45096012
Probably only works with canon alternate realities. Otherwise through the magic of crossovers you could basically turn any Jump into any other Jump.
>>
>>45095634
Yeah. There's a lot of cool stuff to grab there, too. Magic itself is mostly lost, but stormlight-powered magitech remains. Engineering is considered an effeminate profession, though, so if you're a male jumper you might get looked at weird for trying to learn it. The best magitech goes into the creation of "shardplate", basically powered armor. No one knows how to make the full armor sets anymore, though enchanted shields (called "halfshards") can be replicated and they're hoping to figure out the power armor eventually. Fortunately shardplate is self repairing, so it doesn't wear down over time. This is good, because the one bit of relic magitech that no one even has the slightest idea how to reproduce is the shardblade, blades which cut effortlessly through any matter, though don't leave any visible wounds on living flesh. Cut a person with one and their flesh just shuts down along the path of the blade. They can hack corpses apart just fine, though. The only things they can't penetrate are other shardblades and shardplate. You won't be able to replicate them, though, for any crafting jumpers. The reason why is a plot point, so I won't say it, but the spoiler-free version is that they require a very unique ingredient to produce. And no, it's not souls, those are a dime a dozen. You think no one's tried smithing a blade from souls?

Other than the cool toys, the main draw is probably the lost magic systems. The narrative is reintroducing them gradually, so we only know a handful of the ones available. There are ten principles of magic that are used in various combinations by the schools, and we only know what half of them do. There's Transformation, Adhesion and Gravitation, which should be fairly obvious what they do. Abrasion manipulates friction, Progression can accelerate growth and healing, and Illumination manipulates light. The other four we only know their names, and we only know four of the combined schools.
>>
>>45096115
>Magic itself is mostly lost
I can read objects and time travel so not that lost, but yeah unless they put out a big setting bible describing what that stuff did not much can be accomplished.
>>
>>45096012
It lets you go to "mirror dimensions", so you could go to fanfics that only change events without changing the fundamental structure. Like, you could go to a Harry Potter fanfic where Harry wasn't friends with Ron and Herminoe, because that's a change of events. But you couldn't go to one where Harry is a Time Lord, because that fundamentally changes what the setting is about.
>>
>>45096012
Erm. My understanding is fanfic versions of alternate universe don't exist in jumps normally, otherwise every jump would have the danger of Mary Sues coming out of the woodwork to kill you instead of just Changeling.
>>
>>45096012
What I want to know is how much awareness we have of these other dimensions. Can we try to open a door to 'a frozen Earth' in the middle of a battle, and then later open a door to 'the frozen Earth I dumped Lung on'? Do we have some sort of search function and mental Rolodex of dimensions we've connected to?
>>
>>45096115
Also
>Only women are smart or capable in a relevant way.
Okay, I really don't like that.
>>
>>45096183
Well, that depends on whether it has an infinite multiverse, doesn't it? If so, they're bound to exist somewhere out there.
>>
>>45096199
Look on the bright side: When you jump there you can prove to the world that you're a strong independant man who don't need no waifu!

>>45096184
Unfortunately canon Doormaker is kinda sensorily impaired; the power you get has the advantage of not brain damaging you, but there isn't a lot of info on how well he perceives the other worlds. It's worth noting that another parahuman, Labyrinth, who can bring pocket worlds into existence is in a constant hallucinating state.

Don't take my word as Worm's but I think given your power doesn't make you braindead and that Shards which perform similar functions make their users go woozy, your perception of those worlds would be very hazy and vague when you attempt to actively use it. Of course, you could always open a small portal to look before you leap at where you're going and it would probably be much easier if you know exactly where you're going, or if you're in a world where instead of there being infinite alternate universes there's metaphysics in place that make navigating the worlds easier, like the portals already in existence in Azeroth.
>>
>>45096199
No, men practice other crafts. Men can still be biologists and doctors and lawyers and all sorts of learned roles. But magitech engineering is considered a traditionally feminine role for societal reasons that are difficult to summarize. If it makes you feel better, there are as many if not more weird and arbitrary restrictions on women's role in society as there are on men.
>>
>>45096331
I was thinking of the kind of mary sue that has omnipotence or such.

Since jumps don't mention silly thing like Harry Potter God of Hyperdeath (+100 damage against omniverses) coming to kill you during your stay I would assume sillier fanfics like that don't exist.
>>
>>45096382
So I guess that means we can't go chill with goffs and Enoby dark'ness Dementia Raven Way?
>>
>>45096336
They don't sound advanced enough for there to be any REAL biologists or doctors, and lawyers are not a respectable or worthwhile position. I'd respect a man who makes crafts out of bird shit before I respected a lawyer.
>>
>>45096334
Isn't Doormaker only that way because of overuse of the Clairvoyant's powers?
>>
>>45096440
Doormaker overdosed on Clairvoyant specifically because his own perception wasn't enough for the role Cauldron had him playing. Beyond that, the details are spotty.
>>
>>45096432
Well that's more your deal than theirs.
>>
>>45096199
Congratulations! You just learned what it's like to be a woman!
>>
>>45096382

Is it just me or would it be really amusing if those darker and edgier Mary Sue In Name Only characters did exist, but ended up not being a problem do to deciding your not an enemy do to some kind of insane nonsensical reason?

For example Harry Poter God of Hyperdeath noticing your entry into a random timeline and thinking "A dimensional traveler reincarnated into that timeline. This will help ruin the plans of that manipulative old fool Dumbledore. There's no way the old goat can plan for this", and then thinking up more excuses even if you have bad things occur to that timelines version of them.
>>
>>45096535

Presumably he could find them, but he didn't have Clairvoyant's total perception effect and/or speed of search.

I go by treating it about the same as the Dimensional Breach Controller.
>>
>>45096432
Their level of technological sophistication is weird and all over the place, to be honest. Probably has to do with their society rising and falling multiple times over the centuries. But there are real biologists and doctors (though the existence of spren has confused microbiology somewhat, there's debate over whether microorganisms are living creatures or just very small spren), with one of the main protagonists being one. I'll give you the point about lawyers. However, these restrictions are regional ones, and many cultures in the setting practice completely different ones. So if Alethi standards of masculinity offend you, you can just head west to lands where the Vorin faith isn't as strong. Fewer plot-centric things happen there, but you can still be involved in important things.
>>
>>45096429

You joke, but what happens if you end up in something both terrible that was actually meant seriously - like Methods of Rationality?

...might be worth it, just to slap that goiter of an SI in the face with what a nasty little hypocrite he is.
>>
>>45096585
Not in the modern west, anon. Are you posting here from Saudi Arabia?

>>45096646
I see. If it's a regional thing it might be less abhorrent. Alethi sounds like a shithole regardless.
>>
>>45096432
They do have surgeons and doctors worth the name, and priests can learn more or less whatever they want. Gender segregation is really heavy in setting though. Even the food is different for each gender.
Women can't involve themselves in military matters, and are more or less banned from most leadership positions and physical pursuits including doctoring as well as IIRC. (They are also expected to keep one of their hands concealed at all times for some odd reason. It's considered erotic for some reason.)
Men on the other hand can't be engineers, or artists, or even learn how to read the common script, instead only being allowed to learn simplistic glyphs.
The exception are priests who can do whatever the hell they want, except rule or own things.

That's all in Vorin lands though. Other places have different standards.
>>
>>45096593
I guess? I mean, they'd have to be really convoluted in the case of certain jumpers.

"Oh look, an elfen omni-demon with a subdimension full of over 100 different kinds of superintense life energy. But because I'm already destined to win always she is clearly not a worthwhile asset to my entourage, and all I need is the power of MC-kun's love to destroy my enemies"

"Golly, that blonde woman's devouring an entire world! That's 40 times as big as my ego, but as the rightful heir to the dojo she'll surely recognise my natural spirit authority and do as I say when it's time for me to beat up Aizen!"

"I refuse to understand how a multiverse can be alive. I must be tripping balls"
>>
>>45096754
>Men can't learn to read
What the fuck? How does this place continue to fucking exist? All their men are complete, illiterate morons.
>>
>>45096751
Oh, Alethkar is totally a shithole. One of the viewpoint characters is the brother of the former king, uncle to the current one. His inner monologues tend to feature frustration about how his countrymen are awful and seem to actively work against any efforts he makes to turn Alethkar into a better kingdom. "Just...oh my god, stop squabbling over this stupid shit. We have giant rock monsters attacking the kingdom, Ehlokar. Giant rock monsters. Whether this woman is showing proper modesty by keeping her writing hand covered is not the important thing right now."
>>
>>45096754
All of this sounds terrible. How hard would it be to shatter their society completely?
>>
>>45096751
So you're telling me that there isn't a metric fuckton of fiction - probably the vast majority - where only men are allowed to be smart or capable in a relevant way?
>>
>>45096876
I'm sure there is, but how is that relevant to my post at all? Anon said 'welcome to being a woman' with the pretext of the real world, not some specific book setting. Chances are if that anon is posting here, they're probably in a society where women aren't under those kinds of restrictions.
>>
>>45096856
Seems like perks that let you teach people and then going around teaching 'storytellling' in the form of these funny symbols that tell stories when you put them next to each other would work.

Or those 'make something popular' perks to do pretty much the same thing.

Or just a shitton of self contained computing systems with kiddie learn to type and read and write programs on it.
>>
>>45096835
They have women read to them and write for them. It's a large part of why they aren't considered irrelevant despite being banned from leadership.
>>45096856
Depends on how good and comfortable you are with lies. You might be able to pass yourself off as Herald, basically divine saviors with odd powers. The church is largely responsible for the way things are and have taken some major hits over the past century. You could claim they fucked things up again.
>>
>>45096835
They're not illiterate, they just have their own separate writing system based on ideograms like East Asian languages use rather than an alphabet. So it's much harder to learn full competency, but easier to learn individual words and phrases. Much lower overall literacy rates, but they've got enough to get by.

>>45096856
Not very. It's already happening in canon, I imagine you could speed it along without too much trouble.
>>
>>45096876
I believe the point is that men would not want to live in that world, or at least dislike that part of it; just like how women would not want to live in/dislike that part of the worlds you describe. Though I am fine with this idea being explored in fiction, do not know about the other non.

I am blowing this place up, by god. Is there anything here worth saving at all?
>>
>>45096903
I apologize if I was unclear. What I meant by "welcome to being a woman" was in regards to the way you felt discovering that a fictional setting basically removes you gender from playing any important or interesting roles, and leaves them playing the bit parts. I didn't mean to imply that was what my actual life was like, just how I feel way you're feeling right now way more often than I'd like.
>>
>>45096997
Fair enough. Also, stay away from Gor books. Everyone should but they'll probably make you sick in particular.
>>
>>45096997
Can you list off some fiction that does what you're describing for women? Off the top of my head, I can only think of Tolkiens work.
>>
>>45096990
Well, like I said, it's only lands that practice Vorinism that do this. The western half of the continent should be much more acceptable for you. We do see characters from non-Vorin states in the series, and they tend to find Alethi societal traits to be pretty ridiculous. Doesn't help that the Alethi have a lot of other dumb rules. For one thing, they discriminate based on eye color. See, attuning to a shardblade causes your eyes to go pale, and in many cultures the power of a shardblade is an ultimate symbol of authority. This has spread even to those who have naturally light-colored eyes. So if you have dark eye colors in the East you're a filthy pleb unfit for any position of importance. Go back to being a farmer, let the lighteyes handle the big boy stuff. Yeah, Alethkar really is kind of a shit hole, now that I summarize things like this.
>>
>>45096990
... Did you miss the part where men are in charge? Of pretty much everything? Women can control information, but it's almost always men who actually decide what to do, and then the women are expected to abide by that. Particularly because only men are actually allowed to DO things. And there are the male priests who can as scholarly as they want. They're not rare either, so a vast feminist conspiracy to control all the information ever would be doomed to fail.
I mean yeah, most men are illiterate but they aren't irrelevant.

>>45097147
Well as someone with very dark eyes, they do suck. Discriminating based on it is stupid, but dark eyes are in fact ugly and generic as hell.

And I heard you about the other countries, it's just that this place existing annoys me. Depending on when I take the jump in my chain I'd either blow it up or effect quick and vicious cultural upheaval (in which there will be many bloody purges).

>>45097109
Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire is probably the most famous. Not that there aren't exceptions everywhere, they're just portrayed as being uncommon among the general trend. Well, unless you're from up North in which case it mostly boils down to how well you fight.

There's a simliar situation in The First Law trilogy, which is basically an edgier ASOIAF anyway.

Wasn't that largely because nobody saw the emperor, and the Emperor had all most no contact with anyone save through them?
Here the figurative "emperor" is very much involved in day to day affairs. If the "eunuchs" didn't do what they were told it would be quickly found out and it would go very poorly for them.
>>
>>45097418
True, but that's just an example of how an underclass can control the ruler through controlling what he knows. "Being in charge." in theory doesn't always work that way in reality, same way even an absolute king has to abide his lesser nobles.

Yeah, if a man completely ignored women's input it would go poorly for them. But like I said, there are plenty of male scribes and what not running around and usually the one relaying information get's checked multiple times or else the man in question has reason to personally trust their scribe. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it happens a lot less frequently than always.
Besides, most of the characters are pretty cool people, or at least interesting. Just change Vorin culture. It shouldn't be hard for a jumper than can blow up countries anyway.
>>
>>45097418
Question on Mushoku Tensei, for jumper purposes if you can use the fighting spirit already does the magic armor provide any further benefit as a physical booster? I have other plans for it but I'm not sure since the matter is never broached in canon.

>>45097819

>>
>>45097109
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a big one nowadays. Same with Game of Thrones. Star Wars. Some of the Star Treks.

Yeah, I know all of these settings have female characters who do interesting and awesome things. But like >>45097313 pointed out, they're all exceptions - Princess Leia doesn't make you feel like any woman in Star Wars can be smart of capable, she feels like the one woman they're letting in the club. They're all secondary heroes as well - their moments are much less important or interesting than the real heroes'.
>>
>>45097819

Nah - it's just not fleshed out enough yet.

Give it a year or two and maybe then.

>>45097840

It could be - at the moment there's "dude who eats souls and gains all their powers" and we haven't seen any real limits on the Gamer's ability to learn... but that doesn't have to be broken.

If it was made now though, I'd suspect it was just a power grab.

Jordan was his mentor, IIRC.
Also, I kind of hated Jordan's female characters. They all came in one flavor: manipulative bitch.
>>
>>45097840
The problem is that being The Gamer is several thousand CP worth of perks from multiple settings fused into one background, but the only thing fleshed out in the setting. It needs to go long enough for there to be interesting choices, instead of "be the Gamer."
>>
>>45097857
You're pretty wrong about Star Wars, at least in general. As far as the Republic and the Empire at large felt, as well as the Jedi Order and the Sith, gender meant nothing. And as far as the only other big organization goes, the Hutts are all hermaphrodites, so it doesn't matte to them either. You might say that the big 7 movies have lacked any impressive female characters (and I agree), but the society and world of Star Wars isn't a sexist one, by and large. Of course the galaxy is absolutely huge and there ARE planets that hate men or hate women or whatever, but they're in the minority.
>>
>>45095472
A fair point. I'll figure something else out.

The problem is that all of that is secondary material which, by the way, is no longer canon. The new one is a lot better - the Ma-Rey Sue debate aside, the female background characters make it feel a lot more like women can be capable in that universe.
>>
>>45098188
They're tormented as a power source, for pretty much eternity.
>>
>>45098155
To be fair he'd just just been shot by Chewie's explosive laser crossbow, several hampering him and leaving him in immeanse pain. And he was toying with them for most of the fights.
>>
>>45098168
How the fuck can you LIKE someone who has zero character? I can get being indifferent, but she isn't anything to actually like.

>>45098203
Secondary material, sure, but a lot of it was great. Don't disparage the EU as a whole or ignore it here.

>>45098200
I ended up liking Finn (as a character, Boyega as a person not so much) a whole hell of a lot more than I thought I would. Him and the pilot guy should've been the stars.

I haven't watched the latest SW precisely because from what I understand, it's a confused effort at pandering to nostalgic SW fans-down to copying the entire plot of A New Hope-and also what you said. I wouldn't be surprised if >>45098087 is not just right, but they wrote her deliberately like that to help the audience self-insert as her.

>>45098127
...oof. Yeah, that's. I suspect that's gonna be a dealbreaker for the lazy and those with actual morals. To say nothing of the pseudo-pod/companion issues that arise if they're not consumed as energy

But well, if they are consumed and you're going for demons here being absolutely evil kudos-

>>45098204
So...it's Dark Binding: Building edition?

I'd recommend spelling out that once being tormented, they can't be restored in any way if you're keeping that bit in.

Well. I guess I finally know what to do with Voldemort.
>>
>>45098206
He shoulda seen that coming, though. Rookie mistake.
>>
>>45098239
This is off-topic even for here, but I'm curious-what's wrong with Boyega? I barely know who he is.
>>
>>45098282
He's just a bit of an ass.
>>
>>45098268
Doesn't that happen to him anyway? Atleast minus the power source thing.
>>
>>45098206
Not for that interrogation. She somehow reads his mind. I was so fucking pissed about that. She should've gotten her ass kicked until she got training.
>>
>>45098155
So does he

So does the target audience
>>
>>45098155
The villain feels like he's supposed to be a bitch, honestly. He feels like a tweak to Imperial fanboys, and Vader fanboys in particular.
>>
>>45098206
The last saber fight had some good points. How he kept hitting his wound, trying to power himself with pain, was a nice touch.

Also, the fight itself was /gorgeous/. The snow and the colors at night, the forest lit up by the lightsabers. . . For me, that's the most beautiful sequence in the entire film trilogy.
>>
>>45098276
its almost like, for all his posturing, he's a rookie
>>
>>45098276
I mean, he is a rookie isn't he? Just some annoying twit trying way too hard to be Darth Vader?

>>45098303
Okay, yeah, that was pretty fucking stupid.
>>
>>45098351
>don't get cocky, kid
>>
>>45098325
Too bad the fangirls are latching onto him, so mission failure.
>>
>>45098325
That's the problem. You shouldn't tweak fan's noses by making ta major antagonist pathetic. He's not a credible threat, and they didn't kill him so he's coming back. He's the new Jar Jar. Fuck.

Most of the perks and gear options have been for Devils/Demons being Chaotic Evil.
The 400 gear option for them is to convert souls into a wine with spiritual energy.
I actually should make it that you can't 'take out' souls sent into the afterlives, thanks for the reminder.
>>
>>45098127
It doubles in size at 999,999,999 souls to accommodate them. But it can fit nearly 1000 times that many. Does Hell get very crowded eventually? I mean, it's Hell, I don't expect it to be pleasant, but it still seems like you'd have trouble managing the souls in such tight quarters.

Who, Voldemort? He... goes wherever it is people in Harry Potter go when they die.

Except in my chain, I turned him into a philosopher's stone, because it was the surest way to get rid of a person who comes back to life through soul fuckery, and I'm a fan of the classics.

Completely skipped the whole "Voldemort's returned!" plot in the second half of the series. I caught him when he was still a mutant snake baby. Followed Peter back to his location.
Bonus: Sirius Black lived because the Death Eaters crumbled shortly thereafter, and there was no battle at the Ministry.

I didn't do anything with the stone, though. It's just been sitting in a test tube in a desk drawer in my warehouse for several hundred years or so. Ran some scans on it. Studied it a little. Couldn't decide what to do with it. So's just been sitting there.

Souls still apparently retain a semblance of themselves in that form, and it's just the ONE soul all by its lonesome.
He must be bored as shit.
>>
>>45091674
Does that actually bring people back? It reads more like you're temporarily animating a corpse.
>>
Underworld question:
Let's say you go in as a Lycan, and then purchase the elder vampire perk.
What happens?
>>
>>45098550
I think Dumbledore actually said that Voldemort's soul was such a torn up mess that he actually couldn't pass on anymore.
>>
>>45098458

The Inferno doesn't double in size, the actual Manor does.
Apologies for the misleading writing.
>>
>>45098550
Yeah, but his soul is splintered so he can't move on and is in extreme pain. He ends up as that bloody naked baby thing, trapped suffering in limbo forever.
>>
>>45098561
Apparently you're not allowed to do that unless you become a Hybrid.
>>
>>45098604
Ah. So the Inferno is big enough to hold all 996 billion souls with room to torture them, then?
