What are the relations between Marines and civilians? Which chapter treats them the worst aside from Marines Malevolent? Which is the most bro tier and why?

I remember reading in one of the black libriay books how the civilians looked on both the Marines and Sisters as living legends, the marnes just sort of ignored the civilians.

>What are the relations between Marines and civilians?

Not good.

>Although held in awe as Mankind's saviours, Space Marines inspire more fear than wonderment. They have always stood apart from those they protect, and of all the Imperium's servants, they are the most fell-handed. They are death bringers, the deliverers of the Emperor's merciless judgement. Their sudden appearance speaks of calamity, and for Imperial citizens to catch a glimpse of a single Space Marine, even at a great distance, is a dire portent and most likely one of the last things they will ever see.

>Which chapter treats them the worst aside from Marines Malevolent?

MM don't even treat them that bad, they don't go out of their way to hurt them, they just recognise them as acceptable collateral damage. Worse would be the likes of the Space Sharks, the more far gone BA successors, the Unforgiven and the Grey Knights.

>Which is the most bro tier and why?

Ultramarines, they routinely interact with regular people, fight with honour and leave places nicer than than they were.

Lamenters are truly the best chapter. They remember their duty as the vanguard and shield of humanity while remaining the wrathful hammer of the Emperor. Such loyalty, such sacrifice, such honour.

I think that probably the worst ones would be: The black templars, because when they can usually end under the hands of an inquisidor that wants superwarriors that don't ast many questions and black templars are pure zealots, when they stop fighting it doesn't matter if they were hunting heretics, traitors or xenos they will use the rest of their free time to continue their crusade over the rest of the population until they think they have killed enought.

And for bro tier, maybe the ravens, since we're in 40k a small chapter based on stealth is the best thing that can happen to your planet on space marines related things, for the simple fact that "eyes that don't see hearth that doesn't feel"

In the Plagues of Orath trilogy, a bunch of Centurion use the grav-cannon in a non-orthodox way to arrest a fall and the Ultramarine who did goes up to the Chaplain with them (Centurion Chaplain when?) and was like "My brother is crying at me for breaking the codex. Do you disapprove."
And the Chaplain just goes "If you hadn't done it, we'd be dead. The Codex does not approve of that."

I'm still sure the priest in that final novella was a psychic manifestation of the Emperor.

Iron Hands were almost Marines Malevolent tier of asshole towards both civilians and their allies.

Now after the whole thing with that Daemon Prince of Slaanesh that was born from the death of Ferrus Manus and 10K years of repressed emotions of the Chapter, now they became less douchebag since they could now explode emotionally and channel said emotions into true determination.

Mind you, they still are douchebags, but they got better.
>>
>>45086980
It's hugely different from chapter to chapter.

A lot of chapter have their fortress-monasteries on feral worlds or terrible hive worlds where they recruit from the most hardy and exceptional specimens of the savage population that view the marines as goods or boogeymen and otherwise lead terrifying and harsh lives.

Other chapters, like the ultramarines, govern prosperous worlds where they recruit from the highly trained soldiers of the world, or the aspirants who go through lethal olympic style-games and where having a great, great uncle or something who got chosen is a huge honor.
>>
>>45090594

Fucking Ultramarines are shit. It's easy to appear righteous and compassionate when you're rich as fuck and swimming in wargear and equipment with one of the most fortified fortress-monasteries anywhere. They're basically rich faggots just buying favours and loyalty.

Lamenters stay righteous despite everyone shitting on them and being constantly on the verge of annihilation. That takes guts and devotion.
