My current favourite game is probably Delta Green. If the mechanics stay the same I have no issue with this since at the end of the day it's still the people that play it that matter.

But it's not his shtick. The tomb can be finished with preparation and luck. But, the DM isn't your adversary, the Tomb is.
Wick advocates playing dirty as a GM to be an adversary to the players yourself.
The examples he uses include shaming a character in front of her NPC grandmother(a npc ally which you have to buy in character creation) before killing her off with a heart attack so no one ever buys that character perk again.
Another is preventing people from buying disease immunity by introducing a super gene that kills anyone with the perk. There's a cure, but whoops, they're immune to it.
And all of this is orchestrated by his super genius, super perfect, multimillionaire supervillain dmpc that actually secretly runs the hero association but no one ever ever suspects.

I don't know about this stuff, but I've read and played a few of his Call of Cthulhu adventures and they don't seem anything like what you're describing. Bleak and purist, sure, but not unfair. And actually they were really neat in how they used pregens and set up interesting roleplaying among the PCs.

Anime has very little to do with Uncanny Valley. In fact, it's commonly used to explain some of the many methods to avoid the Uncanny Valley.
Uncanny Valley is a bit of an elaborate concept that tried to explain why early 3D models were so off-putting, without appreciating the more simple explanation of more complex/detailed art requires more skill and effort to make it look good. Early 3D art was off-putting not because of some bizarre "It's too close to human but not close enough" idea, but simply because it was a new emerging artform that took time to develop. It was ugly just because it was ugly, not some psychological dissonance.

One of the many advantages that tabletop roleplaying games have over computer games is the ability to simply ignore huge chunks of content and to add your own at a whim. If my beloved game was being published and I found the additional moe content distasteful, I would simply ignore it, or perhaps browse it to see if there were anything worthwhile. Where there is life, where there is community, there is hope.
