They're French, Norman. They're a Dark Angel successor formed during the Second Founding, and were founded by First Legion marines drawn from Franc. Their founder grew up hearing heroic tales of ancient chivalry, and decided to create such a force one again.

Which is weird, because it's added over the barrel. Not to mention that there are only a few doors that can stop a Space Marine. And for those that are durable enough it's better to use chain-, power-, melta or plasma weapons. Firing bolts at possibly unpenetrable objects point blank can at the very least fuck up the barrel.
I actually quite like the Bloody Magpie color scheme. That bone white is nice.
