You're a Cave Hydra, big and mighty, and after an encounter with particularly oversized Grick, you found yourself in need to recuperate your wounds, which healed within expectations. And after munching down your preserved Bear, you decided to go on a patrol around the Glowing Forest and then around the Dwarven Village.

The forest was clear, as clear as a Forest can be. None tried to question your authority over your territory, save for a single Cave Bear, but you took the threat of stepping over your lawn with a grain of salt. They're very cocky and more often than not, they just search a fight, which you aren't looking for at the moment.

The Dwarven Nest however, is a different manner all together and requires a bit of more precise handling. You've already shown yourself there and the dwarves are most likely confused by your doings, you doubt that they get to see a towering Hydra returning something to them all that often.

>Be straightforward, show yourself in front and parade around just outside the actual village. You're the area boss after all.

No reason to hide around, you might as well own the entire village as yours considering your recent actions.

With such though on your mind, you strut towards the village, not going around the back like you did before, but rather knock quite literally on the front door. The tunnel which leads to them is considerably different, at first glance there's no difference, but as you're walking, you feel how smooth and even the road it. The walls themselves seem to be devoid of any natural bulges or depressions of any kind, just purely smooth stone through and through, you have to admit it, it feels pretty comfortable to walk over it and through it.

Soon enough, you reach the place and get a closer look on the front gate. It's open, but not for long, given how you appeared, the outside ring on which you can walk is visible as well, because the ends are sticking out unnaturally. On that elevation, two dwarves are standing still and now looking at you from the distance, waving at each other and readying their sticks.

"So afraid."

"Quite pathetic."

Your left and right says one after each other. You could try stepping in closer, the tunnel turns extremely wide and gains a square shape further in, probably to provide flat ground for the Dwarves to walk and perhaps expand to.

>"Let's see what they will do." Stand still.
>Enter the square place, make sure to be intimidating.
>Take your time walking in, no need to aggravate them.

"Let's see what they will do." you reply to both, all while glaring at the dwarves with utmost curiosity.

One on the left waves to the other one, the gesture is replied to with a yell and the same gesture. Then the left dwarf disappears behind the unnatural wall while running, the other one that remained points at you with a different type of jumping stick, this one has a log placed on the bending stick to help hold it, quite interesting way to deal with such problem you must say.

Time passes for a bit without a change in the behavior, the guard still points at you with the same amount of fear inside of him due to your presence, but suddenly ruckus appears behind him. The first thing to note is that the gate closes but not completely, slit left just big enough for the bipedals to move through. Then the sound of running echoes and multiplies with each second before you spot quite a huge number of dwarves stop on the outer ring, all armed with various types of sticks.

At first, they're hostile, but as you keep sitting idly, amused only by the bickering of your other heads, their hostility turns into quite clear confusion due to you not doing anything. Talk and chatter of their language starts to slowly appear and reach your ears, you can only guess that they're discussing what to do with you. You don't get to see if there's any of the dwarves you've met before, but for that you'd have to get closer, they all look the same to you.

>Get closer.

If you have to be completely honest, this situation is extremely hilarious to you, but also makes you wish for a snack of sorts, something to munch on while waiting for anything to happen, and since you can't walk away, you have to work with what you have.

"Food. I will try to make them give us food."

"This is the best idea."

"Do it."

After being, surprisingly, cheered on by your heads, you start to ponder how to make the bipedals guess what to give you. In meanwhile, the dwarves continue their confusion fuelled ruckus and discussion. This again goes on for a while before your excessive use of your thinking muscle finally comes up with a solution. You open your mouth as wide as you can and then lower your neck, then you reach out with your claw and point inside your throat.

You redo this motion a few times to ensure that they follow your idea. At first they just look outright shocked, completely unaware what you mean, then discussion arises. Again, this goes on for a bit before you hear two yells. The 'roars' sound similar in shape and tone, and after that brought your attention, you spot the horde looking inside of the group, as if single one of them.

Few more yells follow after that and waiting time continues for, yet again, another while. But this time something noteworthy happens.

The gate opens.

Well, this seems quite inviting from your perspective, so you don't put whole lot of thought into the motion of 'let's go in'.

You slowly step forward, and as soon as your massive limb touches the ground and cause noise, everyone's head turns towards you, making you freeze solid and stay still, making sure that no one is suddenly throwing anything towards you.

Then you make the second step, and this time, they all bring up their respective sticks and point them at you, which baffles you to no end. Why are they opening the gate if they're not welcoming you in? Seems and sounds counterproductive if you have to ask yourself. So against all odds, you make another step.

This time they're clearly agitated and start yelling, looking behind them and inside of their village, once again you three are the ones who are confused, not them. But since you reached the entrance into the square room, you have more room to walk. Which isn't necessary, because you now see what the reason behind opened gate was.

From the hole, you see bunch of dwarves pushing something on wheels, a cart. And on that cart, you smell meat, rather fresh, you can even see the blood leaking from the wounds. This cart is pushed by two dwarves, you sense that you've seen them before, but only nature knows if you actually did, and if you did, which ones.

>>
>>44986533
Right behind them there are more carts, this time, not filled with meat, but you doubt it's for you, because it seems guarded, a caravan as you later realize because there's more wagons and carts behind the second one, pulled by their beasts of burdens which are giant lizards.

Closer in, you see what meat is on there, none of which you've eaten before, but they smell and look extremely delicious. And now that the cart is right in front of you and so are the dwarves, you realize that the one to the right is the one you've dropped the stick in front of. A yellow haired dwarf with all hair cut on his head besides a single line in the middle with bigger than usual posture. You smell the usual mix of traits found on a male.

The one to the left smells to be a female, probably also indicated by the general lack of hair on her mouth. Her hair is black jet, almost perfectly blending into unlit area in a tunnel or a cave. She is smaller than the one to the right, but by not whole lot, you can say safely that they're the same size.

Well, this seems just a bit suspicious if you have to be honest now that you think about it, but still, this kind of opportunity for food does not come often, so you will try to benefit the most from this situation.

You lean in and sniff, sensing only unfamiliar smells, but nothing that wouldn't sound bad or not tasty, your other heads follow this motion and sniff as well before looking at you. Pondering for a second, you motion them to feast while you yourself watch different things, mainly the caravan.

"It's. So good."

"I know right? The small bipedal feathery thing is so crunchy too."

"You have to try these, seriously."

Sometimes you wish your taste buds weren't separate for each of the head now, but the caravan now is halfway towards you, letting you get a closer look as to what's happening in there. The first wagon is long and covered in white blanket of sorts, tied down and only giving you the vague outlines on what's underneath it, the second one is the same, but instead of having a firmly pressed in covering, it's hanging in the air, around the wagon itself, providing some shade for no reason, perhaps they're going outside, outside the Mountain.

The scent is mixed with various things in the first wagon, some things are spicy, some smell extra sweet, to the point where your teeth just hurt about the thought of eating something that sweet. This mix of aromas is honestly nauseating to a degree. But the look of intense fear in the lizards and the guards make more up more than needed for it when they're passing you by.

You might as well see the reason behind this glorifying of free food is all about, though the caravan itself is more appealing than the food so far.

You turn your head back and look down at the cart only to see mostly the remains of what was on it at some point in the past, they didn't even leave a bit for you. Nevertheless, you dig in, pushing out the other heads from whatever's left. And the moment you chew down for the first time, you realize that this is very rich taste, quite literally. Even though you're eating scraps, there's taste of incredibly soft and tender meat that almost liquefies in your mouth. Now you're really tempted to try something that you can call the real deal. The dwarves that got you the food don't seem to be all that afraid, but still seem uneasy around you, having their sticks at the ready. You can't blame them for that too much.

But nevertheless, you turn around and look at the caravan, once it got past you it must've rushed out because they considerably increased the distance between you and them, no wonders here.

"We're following them."

"NOOOOOOO! I WANT MORE FOOD."

"We aren't done yet!"

Your heads cry out and snap at you with a hiss, which you ignore at this point and turn around and start walking behind them. But then you hear the sounds of steps follow you and you spot the dwarves, clutching their sticks and look very shocked. And as you're going, they're following you, this makes you think of two possibilities.

They're either dumb or really confident in their abilities to think about putting you down.

>Let them follow you step by step, you have nothing to fear.
>Intimidate them into backing off, you're going alone.

>>44987203
You couldn't care less about them, if they think they can keep up, so be it, let them go by your sides while you do something worthwhile, at least in your mind.

The caravan gets spooked once they realize you're trailing them, but quickly calms down when they spot the dwarves next to you and returns to speed slightly higher than you, still not feeling grand about having a Cave Hydra just trail them like it's nothing.

They go through the Glowing Forest and then turn to one of the most ignored tunnels by almost every animal living here. The climbing tunnel to the entrance. The name comes by how it spins around while climbing upwards, like a worm wrapping around a pillar or its prey. The reason why it's ignored is because no one really wants to leave their natural habitat, something you might consider doing.

"Are we really sacrificing delicious food to go outside?"

"But there might be more food of same kind out there too."

"Not worth it, we have dwarves to feed us now."

"Don't bet on them so much."

You discuss with your heads, partially to kill some time and to bring order back as the discussion would surely heat up like most of the time. The dwarves, you spot in corners of your eyes, seem baffled by you hissing at each other, as if they're surprised to see you hold a conversation with yourself, which that in return surprises you. How wouldn't you talk to yourself? Nevertheless, this shortens the walking time considerably and soon you spot the light.

The light that made you reel back in almost pain as it suddenly hits your eyes out of nowhere. It was blinding white and it looked like the dwarves reacted the same way, although didn't actually stop in their tracks to fight with the pain.

"Go back, this is stupid."

>You're too close to bother yourself with going back, get used to the light and go.

You step back, growling again and hiding from the light. Once you manage to open up your tearing eyes, you slowly step back, confusing the dwarves further with your dance with the light.

Through the power of will and determination, you manage to force your eyes into getting accustomed, although getting completely used to such amount of light will take much more time than wrestling with it for few minutes.

Stepping onward, your right foreleg steps into something wet and rather cold, you take a closer look and find this weird powdery substance that also slowly drops from the ungodly blinding sky. It quickly turns into water once it comes in contact with you however for some reason. And stepping on it makes a very satisfying crunchy sound.

What else, it leaves really visible trail of your steps, that's both good and bad from certain stand points.

"This is fun, step on it again."

"Do it."

You step on the powdery water again, circling about and looking at the patterns, not often you get to play like this so you take this as much as you can to your heart before returning to your original task of following the caravan. Behind you, you hear some short giggle coming from the dwarves for reasons unknown to you.

The trail leads into a huge group of tall, part green part brown things, you can only guess that this is the surface answer to the giant mushrooms. Without hesitating too much, you start lounging onward, crunching the water as you go. Catching up with the caravan in no time in the woods all thanks to the trail left behind.

The walk however is interrupted fairly soon as you spot massive wall made out of the brown parts of these surface 'shrooms', the caravan hastily entering the safe haven that's the inside of it, the dwarves following you also going inside, looking back ever so often.

>Wait for them, not like you're in a haste, and the cold isn't bothering you that much.

You might as well see what the surface is all about, if it's all about this white thing, you could consider living up here, it's tons of fun to hear it crunch, like bones after you step on them.

You start walking around, often looking back in order to not lose your positioning while you enjoy the new waves of sounds, smells and looks of the surface. Be it the rocks or the trees that are covered in snow. You aren't particularly quiet about it however and you don't spot any food walking about, a shame really, but this is well enough to satisfy your sense of exploring, up to a point when you stumble upon something.. Peculiar.

"It stinks, and comes our way."

"This is the most rotten flesh I've smelled. What is that?"

Your heads comment while you turn towards the source of the stench. Soon enough you see the bushes shake followed by a moan, a moan that's not caused by pleasure, pain or anything else at the matter, it feels empty, and this sickens your rather close to nature soul, things are driven by needs and then the cycle loops by needs being driven by things.

The source now emerges from the bushes, and it's dead. A corpse.

"What is this. Those are walking bones."

"How? This is disgusting."

You don't get to utter more words because everything was told about this sight. A shambling, mumbling half eaten corpse lazily drags its legs towards you, the skull half visible as well as some parts of skeleton. The most interesting thing to note about it, besides that it's a walking corpse, is that the skeleton is not that of a dwarf, it's taller, about twice as big, and the skin that's still left on it has a green tint to it.

You will not stand for this act against Nature to go unpunished. You sprint into maximum gear with a roar, deadbeat on destroying this and to make sure that it won't appear again, both on the surface and in the mountains.

You roar loudly, the snow bending under your sound and moving to the side, however the dead doesn't seem even touched by your act of aggression. Good, it means that it's severely stupid and underestimates your hatred towards it.

It barely raises its arms towards you before you slap it with a humongous swipe, sending the living corpse flying through the air and outright breaking a tree in half with the sheer force you've put into it. But you don't stop and quickly follow behind the trail with massive stomps, making your way towards it in mere seconds before you clench your foreclaw and with a growl stomp down on it, crushing it as hard as you can.

Thinking that it's dead, you look down at the broken body, it's even in worse state than before, the right leg and left arm severed by the sheer impact on it while the ribcage sticks out. The blood now you spot, completely black, like a void. Giving you that more reason to remove it.

to your surprise, it springs up the moment you got to it, reaching out for you with a slow movement, so you dig your claws into the stomach before it even extends the crushed arm half way, and twist your claws around, severing it in half. But, again, as if nothing happened to it, it grabs onto your forelimb and makes you hiss from stinging pain.

Seeing how severing didn't work, you crash your claws down on it again, and again, and again. Ever so often stopping to see if it still reacts. And once it does, you return to rampaging your limb right on top of it like it was some sort of drum. Only after a long time of turning it into what you can call a pile of gory goo does its tenacity stop. You aren't sure if it's because of the fact that it has nothing else to move, or if because it's truly dead.

And then you smell it, the faint trail of death deeper within the forest, probably left by this corpse. Perhaps, if you follow it, you will see what kind of monstrosity caused all of this to happen.

>End of thread.

I'd love to run more, but sadly I will have to go soon, but I can stay for QnA if there are any questions.

No problem, the pleasure was mine and thanks for participating.

You're not too old or too young. Like.. Think 21 human years, I don't want to complicate things, so let's say you're 10 years old? Still have to think about it really.

Thanks for running boss.

>You roar loudly, the snow bending under your sound and moving to the side, however the dead doesn't seem even touched by your act of aggression. Good, it means that it's severely stupid and underestimates your hatred towards it.

Why did this make me laugh so much?

How big can we grow? Can we swim well enough to have a beach dwelling?
>>
>>44989349
You're already at the top of your size, only way for you to grow is to become Dire, which pumps your size category to a higher one. And that won't be happening anytime soon.

As for swimming, your swimming basically boils down to 'walk on the floor till you get to the place you want to'. Your lung capacity lets you sit a loooong time under water. Actual swimming via paddling your limbs is limited.
