Rain of Tears, GQ+Surgical, Contaminater Ground is cool too along with Fulminator Mages and a hefty amount of Duress and Stony Silence in your SB and the matchup should be at least 50/50

it's the new format police combo deck.

you go: mana dork, mana dork, ascendancy, faithless looting, silence, dredge and cast loam 10 times off ascendancy triggers, unearth all your fatestitchers, dredge loot some more, kill you with fatestitchers.
you can also play the standard artifact retraction helix exile your deck version if you want. it doesn't matter, it still goes off on turn 3.

I like blue, red and white, but I don't want to play jeskai ascendancy combo.

Should I go beatdown with delvers, stormchaser mages and jeskai charms for +1/+1 and lifelink, coupled with burn/counter/removal?
Or should I go hard control with planeswalkers as finishers? I think the deck at the bottom of this article looks sweet, although I'd probably play a different planeswalker.

MaRo is jewish.
Dredge will buttfuck you in the pussy if you're a bad player that didn't plan ahead, and it's cheap hence it's a "jew slayer" (basically dredge gives 0 fucks about 60000 dollars super rare deck, it is defeated by good plays and cheap hate cards)
There is a nazi-dredge pasta which I seem to have lost

>>
>>44931502
yo i just woke up i'll try to help out

satyr is the best turn 2 play as it doesn't put you down a card while grabbing a land. the problem with dredgevine is that you are never actually 'drawing', so you need to reliably have a land drop on each of the first 4 turns of the game. For these reasons I think 4 is a must.

Yeah I was playing with lightning axes and abrupt decays but it is just so weak compared to rites, and they do jack shit if you mill them

Fair point about the verdants, although the only way you are killing a moon is golgari charms out of the sideboard

I don't run loam. I understand that the deck is mana intensive and that you could potentially get both of your white mana producers dredged early on, but if you keep in mind to fetch them or grab with satyr over any other land you should be fine. Loam is too slow for what is essentialy a wonky combo deck

Against graveyard hate, we fold, or try to beat them down as fast as possible. RIP will kill us the majority of the time, unless we have sided in golgari charms. It shouldn't turn you down from playing the deck, as no one runs graveyard hate these days

sideboard options are excellent

4 ancient grudge means we are basically 100% for games 2/3 vs affinity

extra gnaws beat burn and creature based decks, and you can run slaughter games which hits lots of combo decks

No it's not. It ain't deck to beat or a deck that keeps other decks out. Hell, it's very fragile to hate.

If Jeskai got a Sylvan Caryatid + Jeskai Ascendacy on the field, they can just start comboing before any non blue deck reacts.

Eh, I'm not so sure. Against Infect and Burn it's a dice roll: either you win on T3 or they do. Probably you, because you have a very consistent T3.

You only really lose to countermagic and discard, and with GBx getting assraped out of the format by Tron, it looks pretty good.
>>
>>44937713
The thing is it can be built combo control, as a highly interactive deck.

>unbanning Jace

I want this to happen just to see the world burn

How does it win against Tron though?

Jace gets stronger the better your other cards are, but he seems lackluster if the best permission you can play is Mana Leak, and you have to hardcast your Batterskull

Also if he got unbanned, cards that are actually good outside their incestuous linear synergistic circlejerks will never be allowed into modern for fear of players being able to actually have fun
so business as usual
Give me Ponder or give me death REEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>44937856
Really Jace wouldn't do much in modern honestly and the only people who want him to stay banned are either still asspained about caw-blade or timmies that don't like the color blue aka wotc

Most decks are so interactive that playing a Jace turn 4 is the least of anyones problems

Tron and eldrazi both run relics maindeck though. I'm guessing baiting them into blowing them up early would be the only way to get around them.

>>
>>44937838
Have you people ever played an engine combo deck? It's not exactly unrealistic to get there.

To go off, you need either a dork in play or a fatestitcher in grave. You run 4 birds and 4 caryatid, and caryatid has hexproof. You also have 4 looting, 4 serum visions, 4 soh, and 4 probe to find what you need.

You also need ascendancy. You have 4 glittering wish, and 3 ascendancy mainboard. Of course, you also have the aformentioned suite of 16 cantrips to find it.

Then you need one of those cantrips to win. It's redundant, fast, and powerful.
>>
>>44937838

Not >>44937808, but he somehow is right. Cariatid have hexproof. Unless youcounter it or make your opponent discard it or sacrifice it, You will be fucked in the ass

Every deck should run fetches and ghost quarter. These generate free gravestorm, and can be used to step your opponents deck of key cards.

This comic is actually kind of how I feel

It's dangerous setting a precedent that you are banning decks in modern because they are "popular". Almost all of WotC's arguments for the twin ban were silly.
>>
>>44939431

The reason gave WotC pointed that. If somehow a shitty deck like Jeskai Combo gets popular, they will find a shitty excuse to ban the jeskai ascendacy.
>>
So what about Wr Death and Taxes with Magus of the Moon? I also like the ideas of winning out of nowhere with Kiki combo or being able to run the Akroma tech and actually use her firebreathing.
>>
>>44939510

Tron/Karn should be fucking there.
>>
>>44939625
Except when they banned Wild Nacatl for reason
>>
>>44939431
The unspoken reason of "we want Battle and Oath to dominate coverage" is the only one that really made sense for the Twin ban. It sets an even more dangerous precedent that decks can be banned from a non-rotating format so that new cards will be more widely played.
>>
>>44939668

They're the two fast, synergistic aggro decks that try not to let their opponent interact. And if you think that Affinity isn't powerful consider this: everyone and their grandmother packs hate for it and it's still one of the best aggro decks in the format in terms of putting up results.

For anyone who is tired of Modern and wants to play a good format online I can recommend Pauper.

http://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/pauper#online

meta should become more balanced after the ban

Decks are cheap (most tier 1 decks under 30$) and it has leagues on MTGO which are the best way to play competitively (it works similarly to arena in Hearthstone).

Also the color balance is right and not fucked up like in Modern.

It really is Delver the format though. I have about three Pauper decks now of which only one is Delver, but every time I play one of the other I find myself thinking
>"Why don't I run Delver in this? That seems way better."
And then I meet an opponent who doesn't run a Delver deck and I think to myself
>"Why doesn't he run Delver deck in that deck? That would be way scarier."

Playing pauper takes more skill than playing OP cards like the modern format even though I enjoy modern more. My opinion.

Since I got some interest in the Liliana of the Cute proxy that I made, I figured I would share my methods.

1. Download Magic Set Editor.
2. Make the card you want. The program is piss-easy to use. I use Safebooru for art so that it doesn’t get too lewd.
3. Go to Wal-Mart and buy Mod Podge, 100 percent pure Acetone, clear coat in a spray can, some makeup sponges, and some double-sided tape.
4. Print your card on a plain piece of paper. This is your “carrier sheet.”
5. Find some foils that you don’t want. I use Modern Masters 2015 because they are the easiest to peel.
6. Dip the corner of your foil in the Acetone and dig at the corner with your nail until the foil layer peels. You should be left with a plain, white card.
7. Dip your makeup sponge in the Mod Podge and pat the card until the entire white surface is nice and coated. Let the Mod Podge dry.
8. Apply double-sided tape to the center of your carrier sheet.
9. Stick the card, white side up, onto the carrier sheet.
10. Put the carrier sheet into the printer and print out your card.
11. Gently pick up the piece of paper. DON’T TOUCH THE INK. Lay it down and hit the card with a cat of clear coat. I use gloss since it looks nice.
12. Let it dry then put that bitch in a sleeve.

Pic related is another proxy/fake that I made. Are they perfect? No. Do they look good. Most of the time.

I talked about Alesha with the players at my LCS when she was released. Everyone knew about the tranny thing, and a good amount of people thought it was stupid pandering. Frankly, I don't see why exactly WotC would even pander to trannies. Most of their clientele are male college students, and they certainly do not give a single fuck about trannies.
>>
>>44941717
At this point you're just naive if you don't think SCG have access to early information regarding bans that they use to gouge the market. Name the cards from Twin and Amulet that have spiked in value in the last month. I can wait.
>>
>>44941767
Part of WotC's marketing plan is increasing outreach to people of color, women, queer people, etc. and they can very easily do that by just representing said people in their game

Obviously everyone wants to target everybody. Most things have core fanbases that are comprised of a certain background. You don't wanna make your core fanbase mad. Alesha wasn't something offensive to the core fanbase, but it was certainly seen as something stupid by the core.

I hope this whole eternal masters thing turn out to be true and it either means that they abolish the reserve list or create a new legacy like format without reserve list cards.

This means that they can finally turn Modern into Standard 2.0 and give players who want to play real magic a affordable and therefore more popular option.

relative noob question- where do you guys sell your cards? ive looked into my lgs but after seeing some sites offering twice as much for what i have, im leaning towards online. do you sell online and what sites do you use? does your lgs offer fair prices and mine is just a greedy bastard? i dont mind supporting the lgs, but with online offering so much more money, its hard to justify selling to the store. especially considering that im pretty poor, and getting a good price for these cards is the only way i will be able to put together a proper competitive deck in the near future.
>>
>>44943810
An LGS, just like most businesses, is never ever going to pay you retail price for any card you have, for the simple reason they are a business and they need to make their profit.
They will generally offer more in store credit, but it's still not gonna be what the card is actually worth.
If you can't sell it to privately, ebay is probably your best bet, but even then you're gonna have to pay some fees and if the buyer complains they're probably going to side with him.

Esperfag here.

Problems I see

>Leak + Path
Logic Knot exists, play either that or Negate. You're trying to play the long game, so your opponent will hit lots of land drops so leak will become dead fast.

Lingering Souls isn't that great right now, because if you tap out for it on turn 3, you just die to combo.

Dimir Charm is bad. I'd replace it with some actual removal or countermagic instead.

Why the fuck are you playing Crypt when Rest in Peace exists.

I don't even get why you have Rites in this deck. Bringing back a mulldrifter? At sorcery speed too? I don't like it.

You're not even maxing out on paths.

23 lands is way too few for a control deck, plus you don't have a lot of ways to reliably hit land drops like with Think Twice. There's not even Collonade, which is a non-negotiable aspect of Esper Control.

Timely reinforcements is pretty bad against burn, it can just hold up skullcrack all game long so by the time you can resolve it, you're already dead.

Shit man, is this supposed to be a budget list?
