/tg/, what is your wisdom?
>>
I'm wise enough to know I'm average if that counts.

I'm wise enough to know that what gets discussed on /tg/ and what actually happens when you play a traditional game are two almost completely different things.

Wisdom score is subjective to the creator of whatever test is used to measure it. But that doesn't mean wisdom isn't a thing because I've seen people I swear would have negative wisdom scores.

I don't really know, since it would be next to impossible to gauge my own mental stats.
I can be pretty gullible, but I use critical thinking in my career. I like to learn and seek words of wisdom and apply them, but I hardly generate wisdom that I specifically thought up, though I suppose learning lessons that way and realizing that it doesn't matter where good advice originated could be wise. My mental stats probably vary from day to day as well.
I just don't know anymore, Anon.
>>
>>44887969

It's all good, dude. I come up with shit every now and then and someoe asks me who I'm quoting, but in the end it doesn't mean anything.

Does anyone have a spreadsheet for how wise a wisdom score makes you?
>>
>>44888180
>>44887381

Can wisdom even be measured in numbers? I can get intelligence since problem solving and memory can be objective, but how does one objectively measure wisdom?
>>
>>44887381
Don't blame rpg, video games, traditional games like chess, religion or any other escape goat for the crazy things people do.

The drives for life and death are inside us, for all the good and bad this leads to.

>>44888224
I'd guess a formula that involves many variables, not the least of which is number of arrests.

I'm wise enough to know that I'd be marking myself as a moron to even consider that I'm above average.
>>
>>44888249
I'd imagine bad luck and and a few million other things would interfere with the arrest part. I'd say Al Capone is probably wiser than some random guy who's never been arrested.

I always hated this logic, that effect equals causation. If I scored into MENSA, and somebody asks me if I'm intelligent, and I reply positively, my intelligence doesn't plummet. Some fool who responds positively should mean that the worlds smartest or wisest people have to try and pretend they aren't dedicating their life towards spreading wisdom or intellectual pursuits.
>>
>>44887381
I'm on /tg/, so I'm probably an 8, using 5e as the system.
>>
>>44888180

Hmm. idk.

Intuitive perception of cause and effect is how I translate wisdom into something I can understand though.

Intelligence would understand things seen with Wisdom logically and know the 'math' behind it.
Charisma would be the cousin of Wisdom, where high Wisdom could see through intuitively(sub-consciously picking up tells,gut-feeling), Intellect could see through by means of analysis(better not have a tell).

But as for measuring it? idk.

Constitution barely affects anything and it's okay to make it your dump stat.
Don't feed the trolls.
Grow up, but that doesn't mean you have to grow away.
Eat healthy, not just tasty.
Listen to other people even if they're stupid. They still might point something out you never thought of. Gather knowledge and perspective from others.
Don't be a dick, everyone hates dicks.
Don't be afraid to like something everyone else dislikes, as long as you actually think critically about what you're doing. Thinking for yourself is better than following the herd blindly.
Be who you really want to be. You can manage it.
Be friendly to people where you can. They deserve it as much as you do.
>>
>>44888479
>>44888451
I got you, bro.
However, I think Perception of cause and effect is to wisdom what memory is to intelligence. I don't think it defines it, but is part of it that is applied as a function in-game.
>"Wisdom or sapience is the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight"

So it's not just critical thinking, but the application of it and intelligence.

Wisdom for the DMs of the world- Don't be annoyed that your players didn't get the clues or solve the puzzle or understand what you were trying to tell them. Don't blame them for not getting something. Always try to think of ways you could have communicated better. Try to improve. If you think about it that way, next time you write up a puzzle you'll be thinking in that way too. You'll come up with better adventures and solveable challenges, as well as communicate better overall.

Someone told me that years ago here on /tg/ and it was the best dm advice I've ever heard. They phrased it a bit better, but it's basically "what could you have done differently?" Not to say it's 'your fault' if they don't get it, just that grumbling about dumb players doesn't *help*.

Don't ever compromise when it comes to player selection.
-Large groups are hard to manage. If you already have five-six players and someone wants to bring their roommate, politely decline.
-If someone hates roleplaying and prefers tactical combat and dungeon crawling, for god's sake don't let them into an L5R or WoD game. The reverse holds true if you're looking to run a casual game where you bash some orcs with your friends.
-You know those girls who revel in being the token geek grrrl? All males friends, loves attention? Don't invite more than one into a game. It ain't pretty.

A Fedora is only proper gentleman attire if you actually dress up. Your stained sonic the hedgehog t-shirt ruins everything else you wear it with, fedoras included. Taking some time to cure your appearence is fundamental to live in society and anyone Who says the opposite and calls you superficial for doing so is a smelly uncouth barbarian you should leave to the lions at the Colosseum.

Well my eyesight, hearing and situational awareness suck, so...

I think I'm not bad at telling when people are lying to me, resisting intimidation and making sound decisions, but those are all a hell of lot more subjective, aren't they?

So if Wisdom is a real thing, like 6 and I'm wrong about a lot of elements of my personality.
>>
>>44887381

If you cannot operate under the "Yes, and..." mode of GMing, you need to go write a book.

If GM's weren't so shit about the 8 hour adventuring day, maritals would be better.

The older I get, the more I believe that the Japanese write better pen and papers simply because their systems defend themselves without GM intervention.

Sorry. I forgot this was /3.5/.

13.

Wisdom flows not from what you know, but what you don't know, and have enough humility to admit.

Ivory Tower game design is always wrong; System mastery is for video games.
