Steel Legion is more tactically flexible and could probably outmaneuver DKoK thanks to being mech inf. Though considering the scale of DKoK deployments, the Steel Legion would simply circumnavigate the Krieg frontline only to run into another Krieg frontline.

Much as I love the Death Korps, and for some reason never cared much for the Steel Legion despite how blatantly badass they are, I think the Legion would win this one. The Legion prides themselves on defying the odds against suicidal hordes of evil. The Death Korps prides itself on being one of those suicidal hordes ofjustice.

Yeah, if the Kriegers are somehow able to bog down the SL one way or another, cut off their mobility and put up too many defenses even for the SL's awesome tanks to bulldoze, they'll be able to win. The problem is getting there, since the Steel Legionaries have righteous, high-octane blitzkrieg in their veins and will most likely get the first shot in.
It's not like the DK doesn't have a bazillion units of artillery or their own tank corp or anything. They could do a lot of damage to a mechanized army in the open. They make use of old-fashioned heavy weapon squads with tank busting gear as well.
In the real, modern world, mobility trumps static defense. In the grimdark idiocy of 40k...it all equals out.
