Last thread was a train wreck (OPs need to be obvious)

Tron is the best deck in the meta right now. How do you feel?
>>
>>44730699
Feels great, being a GR tron player.
>>
>>44733640
I hope you have a second Modern deck for post-OGW.
>>
>>44730699
what do you think the problem with tron is? personally I had that smug cunt ugin. I could fight through a karn before, it was rougher than anal with no lube, but sometimes with the right draws it worked. ugin is just NOPE GET SHITFUCKED CUNT and dominates the game vs. anything midrange/aggro.

I wouldn't be sad to see that fucker go the way of treasure cruise.
>>
>>44734543
ban ancient stirrings already. pay G dig 5 for any land, artifact, or karn or ugin or any eldrazi is pretty fucking strong and gives the deck a lot of inevitability. would also bash amulet's kneecaps without giving it the pod treatment.
>>
>>44734543
Ugin and Eye of Ugin are what fuck me up.
As soon as Ugin hits the field, it's over. He can wipe my whole board and not even put himself in bolt range. That's retarded.
Eye of Ugin sucks since even after I Fulminator Mage their tower 3 times in a row, they'll still have all their lands up, put Eye out, and just drop Emrakul or Ulamog the next turn.

Is Modern all about who's is starting to jerk off for five minutes first right now ?
>>
>>44736373
Yes. This will remain as long as Urza Tron remains legal. The Tron deck is way too good at crushing fair decks and it's everywhere: you can't justify playing a fair deck because it has severe difficulty at trying to beat everything, has instant-lose cards like linear decks (Blood Moon / Choke / Boil (Boiling Seas) are basically Stony Silence for Jund/Abzan/Grixis) and can't beat Tron.

I mean sure Tron isn't the *only* reason fair decks are dead, but the deck pushes them all out of the competitive scene.

And since there are no fair decks to police out linear decks, then you get even MORE non-interactive decks.

tl;dr Masturbation Contest as long as Tron exists

>ur mad

I play Amulet Bloom. If my deck should be banned, Tron needs to get the fuck out too.
>>
>>44736629
It just seems that fair decks need more tools to keep up with these super fast non linear decks. Blue is at the moment kind of shit and only presented in twin and grixis control, where the latter doesn't run usually a single counterspell, because they are pretty shit in this meta.

Is it possible to run monoW(or hatebears) with 4 phyrexian revokers on main? It feels like it's one of the few answers that work on Ugin/Karn and Lili. Also maindeck spellskites are coming. Better prep those artifact removals.
>>
I know what the Coastal Wizards need to do.

Unban cloudpost and pod.

It's a basic land(so easy to cheat out, unbeatable by nonbasic hate) that

1) produces dedicated colorless for "colorless matters" spells and abilities
2) isn't referenced outside OGW, so it will dodge land type hate
3) provides a 6th basic land type for Domain, run it in Zoo to do 6 damage for 2 mana :^)
4) is legal in colorless EDH

>>
>>44746721

>>
You are foolish if you think Tron isn't getting nerfed/banned. It bottlenecks Wizards by forcing them to be careful with new colorless giants like Ugin and Ulamog. As a bonus it's pushing fair decks out of the format and is pretty clearly the best deck in the format bar none.

Ancient Stirrings is stupid and would go a long way to nerf Tron, although I think the deck is too cancerous as a whole to keep around.
>>
>>44746807
You know damn well that they can't ban any of the big stars. Realistically it will be the lands. This is almost the same situation the 12-post was in. Any deck that produces that much mana, that quickly is going to get the axe. Unfortunately that also means we wont see a reprint of them, so I guess buy the urza lands now?
>>
Wow I just bought a MM2 booster.

Pulled a Mox Opal and a foil Leyline of Sanctity. That shit is pretty cash.
>>
>>44746889
I'm saying Urza Tron is getting axed (the lands) or Ancient Stirrings. Karn Ugin Ulamog Emrakul aren't going anywhere.
>>

>so I guess buy the urza lands now?
Already have mine. But what format are you planning on using them in that isn't Modern?
>>
There's 2 burn decks and 2 infect decks at my LGS. One guy came in from a rival shop playing a foiled out Tron and was bragging about free money. He went 0-4 and hasn't showed up since.

I'll tell ya, nothing is as fun as watching the infect player kill a Tron player the turn before dropping a Karn.
>>
>>44746736
No one plays this deck around here, so I don't know. But Tron isn't a problem for me :^)
>>

3 Leyline of Sanctity
2 Welding Jar
2 Grafdigger's Cage
2 Pyroclasm (or 3 clasm no firespout is still good)
1 Firespout
2 Nature's Claim
1 Quiet Disrepair (can run this in-place-of or in-addition-to Claim)
1 Pithing Needle
1-2 [[Flex Spots]]

He also got rid of Aether Grid.
"3 mana was too much of a cost for me to play to card. Yes, I feel 3 mana is that big of a deal. Ensnaring Bridge stops decks cold, aether grid... well only sometimes. Grid was great at closing out games. However, I felt it unnecessary in dealing with the threats. It was a great card in theory but GP OKC I sided it out a lot.
Twin: not needed
Affinity: too slow
Burn: too slow
Infect: good if you're on the play
Elves: too slow
Merfolk: too slow
Jund: not needed
Scapeshift: not needed
AmuletBloom: not needed
Tron: not needed
In short, most aggro decks the aether grid is a bit too slow to slow them down enough. For non-creature decks, aether grid is merely a "win" card. Would rather it be another card that offers utility."

They provide a week version of your psuedo-fatesealing entirely on their own, help you dig for your lock, work as a mill-dork, and bypass graveyards shufflers.
They also tie up your mana and die to removal, but they have more than enough value to justify running.

Warping Wail will also be good when Gatewatch comes out. It's a 2 drop that can:
*Counters sorceries (read: most cards that will boardwipe your artifacts)
*Destroy creatures with power or toughness one or less (read: most creatures that can steal a game by running under your Bridge)
*Make a 1/1 Eldrazi Scion token (read: if you didn't draw a third land, you can use it to cast Ensnaring Bridge)

Why do so many of you scrubs think this. Do you all play stupid shit like tokens?

Tron is a stupid linear deck and can be hated out very easily. You're all just bad and pessimistic.

Wah, wah, the format is toxic! Interaction this, buzzword that
>>
>>44730699
Tron player here, if you faggots seriously can't deal with Tron then you must not be running Red, White, Green, Blue, or Black.
Or. Maybe you're all retarded and don't know how to sideboard properly.
>>
>>44753932
Beating Tron involves the following:

>play burn
>play infect
>play affinity and use the infect line
>fucking Twin, who cares if they have Karn and Wurmcoil on the field
>don't play BGx
>>
>>44753957
Are you actually retarded?
>protip: that's rhetorical, of course you are
Do you want to win?
Fulminator Mage
Stone Rain/Price of Progress
Sowing Salt/Crumble to Dust
Smallpox
Pithing Needle
Stony Silence
Phyrexian Revoker
Shadow of Doubt
If you can stop Tron before turn three, and then rain hate on their town via Sowing or Crumble then you FUCKING WIN.
>>
>>44753890
It's not so much about the creature (they always rip an agent or an inkmoth) but the fact that not counting become immense every pump spell, cantrip and nature's claim is 1 so they can't even remove it.
>>
>>44753957
I play skred and I don't cry about Tron this hard.

>>
>>44753905
>claims the opposite
>uses strawman and no actual evidence to suggest his point is valid
Okay there, buddy bud. Tron is extremely strong against fair decks because it can out preform them by simply doing what they do bigger. It also beats out a lot of control in the format because each of its threads (once active) can very easily finish a game.
>>
>>44754257
Feel like, that should have been in a different thread, but whatever.
None of them. You need to drop a LOT on standard right now if you want your deck to be viable.
>>
>>44746807

>>
>>44754040
Not that anon but I've played against old tron (haven't seen the newer and better tron yet) but I've done everything from fulminator mage in kolaghan's command artifact break+ reanimate fulminator and even then the game is fucking hard.
In sultai I've rain of tears into snap+ rain of tears and the game still feels hard.

Because in both scenarios I'm trying to slow you down but there's no definitive stop to tron, even blood moon just means they have to tap the amount of lands equal to the actual mana cost of their spells. And if they are on the play and turn 3 tron that's basically game because now they have a huge threat and tron online before most hate is available.

Modern needs back to basics reprint

So, is this ability some kind of double trigger? The rulings in todays article seem to imply that its one, and needs to have a target before paying the trigger cost, which seems weird because of the wording.
>>
>>44753042

You've got counterspells, draw spells snapcasters, splinter twin to recur snapcasters and/or do a combo to win the game.

What's to ask? It's a good deck, now you just need to test it out and see what works and what doesn't in your local meta.

Fucking sad, you guys.

I play Naya Burn and a friend of mine, who is significantly better at Magic, has been training me. The more I learn about Tron, the more I learn about how to beat it and the more I like my deck.

Every deck has weaknesses. Exploit them, goddamn. Just read a Tron Primer and you will learn more about their plays against each deck.

If you genuinely like this game, fucking act like it and practice and do research. You might learn something and, trust me, once you start winning, you'll feel good about yourself and your abilities.

I hope they keep Tron and Bloom Titan. That shit just gives me something to work towards: beating the shit out of them with my brainless deck.

>Because in both scenarios I'm trying to slow you down but there's no definitive stop to tron, even blood moon just means they have to tap the amount of lands equal to the actual mana cost of their spells

Ive seen games where 1-3 Fulminators get recursed through Kommands with Discard/Smash, the Tron player basically just sits there with his dick in his hand casting 7 mana Stone Rains while Scooze or Tarmogoyf rips his asshole apart. Then postboard they're essentially throwing a hail mary for a clean Relic sweep.

People really don't understand that dropping Karn is by no means the end of the game, and that by shutting off Urzatron, you effectively have a massive 3-4 turn window to do essentially whatever you want.

It isn't Tron's fault that it's T7 and you can't close the game with an aggro deck.

Misty Rainforest is objectively not a bad investment, being a blue fetchland and all that, but if the intent was to buy a staple that would not only retain its value but also have it increase, then I must question why you didn't go with the Tarns considering that UR is the most commonly played color combination in Modern today.
>>
>>44757162

3cc is too much. The deck only has Ensnaring Bridge and LotV for 3 mana, both are considered "finishers" while the discard and enablers lie in 1cc and 2cc

What about a BR aggro deck that runs a lot of land destruction
Staples like Dark Confidant and Bolt
And then land destruction like Molten Rain, Fulminator Mage , Stone Rain, Blood Moon and Sowing Salt to deny them of all their lands.
Would that be viable?

>>44757549
Yeah that would be the hardest match up but I think with some real brewing it could be a solid deck. Continually destroying their lands and keeping them out of the colors they need to cast their good spells. Using IoK to pick off problem cards from their hand and Bolt to rid the field of irritating creatures or to close games out. Then Fulminator and K Command to bring their lands down to dust and Molten Rain for that extra damage. It'd do well against a tron heavy format with a couple Sowing Salt mainboard.

Your friend isn't wrong, but Tarn sees plenty of play there as well. Regardless, when in a pinch its always better to go with the card you actually need for a deck rather than speculation on the market, so I can't say you made a wrong decision or even a bad one.

Your Mistys will pay off in the long run. The Tarns spiking right after was just simpe bad luck.

In all seriousness, misty sees more play because people like to play on color fetches, but any blue fetch is good. Misty gets basic forest in shardless and basic forest and island in aluren.
