I haven't played it much, but Xiangqi is pretty interesting. Compared to chess, it feels wide open, with much more mobility. I don't know how I'd feel about the game if I played it more, but I quite enjoyed this aspect of it. Also, I'm a big fan of cannons, which can only take a piece if the hop over an intervening piece.
