>Being allowed to compete in a race with perfect infallible robot legs
What bullshit. Can I just sit in a car and call it a prosthetic? No really judge, I deserve a gold medal for running 120 mph on my prosthetic leg, I'm a hero.

Fuck that shit, prosthetic legs are better than human legs, anyone with them needs to be in a separate division entirely or have any and all awards and records stripped.
>>
>>44708209
Tell me. If you're serious about running, why don't you just have your legs cut off and replaced with prosthetics? It'd level the playing field.
>>
>>44708229
Oh don't get me wrong, I am in full support of the idea that athletes cut their legs off to get robot feet. I also think steroids shouldn't only be legalized, but mandatory, that football player's shouldn't be allowed to wear pussy armor, and that during halftime they should release starving lions and the surviving team members have to finish the game.

I am totally down with escalating regular sports to bloodsports. They play a game for a living, I don't give a fuck if their balls shrink, I wanna see them hit more homeruns. But since we're never going to get that, I think it's bullshit that I'm expected to be amazed that some asshole managed to beat world records in running when he has unfeeling unbreaking metal feet that were designed specifically for running and function better than human feet.

If we ban the shit that would be FUN to watch because it's "unfair" or "dangerous" then fuck off trying to tell me to be impressed by cyborgs. If you got no legs, you should either have to hop with the normies or run with the rest of the cyborgs. If fair is the ideal then fair should be the standard.
>>
>>44708209
I imagine it's less a race and more a technological showcase. Different companies getting the best users of their best products to show off and boost sales. One corp produces legs that are faster, but another might have patented magnetic shock absorbers. One product line of sleek, nearly organic looking hardware, another line that costs less and performs almost as well but might be ugly as shit. Subtle implants compared to towering machine bodies. So much competition and so many niches to fill after all.

I'm a big fan of cyborgs whose mechanical components have been decorated/stylized in some way. Aside from just being more visually interesting it also seems more real to me; most people wouldn't want grey mechanical instruments attached to them, they would want them to reflect their personality. People do this even for attractive pieces of industrial design like iProducts.
>>
>>44708308
I'll say again. I'm not against the idea of cyborg sports. I am fully in support of cyborg sports. But I think it's bullshit that some bitch with no feet is allowed the use of engineered performance enhancing superfeet to make up for her failings, while her opponent isn't allowed to chug a big smoothie full of steroids and amphetamines to make up for theirs.

If she's allowed to use technology because she got no feet, I should be allowed to take drugs because I got no motivation to work out. Why is one allowed and the other isn't?

I'm 100% on board with cyborg only leagues, I'm not down with having cyborgs race humans and calling it fair when the cyborg wins.

So is it possible to basically be nothing but a brain in a robotic squid?

If the essential parts of the brain are the minimum legal requirements and the flesh is unimportant then can a tech adept end up like one of the Sentinel robots from the Matrix film?

Because holy shit that image is beautiful.

I'd see it more as different manufacturers/models for varying industries.

Construction cyborgs would differ from soldier cyborgs or athletic cyborgs. Maybe some use different parts with custom (illegal?) software to make them all work together well.

Example: military cyborg gets himself some runners legs so he can cover open ground better. Maybe a construction worker gets himself some weightlifting parts.

From the shin down they might, but it is up for debate. They are springier, lighter, better traction, but you can't use the calf muscles.

Transhuman Space does it this way. The Olympics gradually morphed into a trade show for genetic upgrades, bioroids, and cybernetics. Nobody thinks it's weird.

There's also a market for extreme sports like a short sprint across the moon-- without a spacesuit. Even the winners usually spend months in the hospital recuperating, and deaths are common.

Yeah.

Anyway, to answer OP, I like ones with visible robotic prosthesis, usually augmented in some way for weapons. But I don't like prosthesis that get too insane or bulky. It needs to be fairly close to the size of the original limb for me.

Either that, or 95% cyborg bodies like General Grievous. Not really a fan of the cyborgs/robots who are indistinguishable from humans. They serve a purpose sometimes, narratively, but they're just kinda boring to me.
