>THEY DO NOT TO SIGMAR. SIGMAR THE DECEIVER. SIGMAR THE BARBARIAN. SIGMAR THE TRAITOR. WHO ALMOST COST AN UNDYING KING HIS KINGDOM
-The Great Necromancer Nagash
Holy Shiz.
I just listened to the new audiobook. Nagash had enough of Sigmar's treachery and lies. No longer will he tolerate Sigmar stabbing him in the back.
Nagash is on a warpath and he will not rest until Sigmar is cast down and all the souls that Sigmar stole from him are returned to the Underworld. There would be no alliance or peace with Sigmar whose word means nothing.

The Fyreslayers think that Ur-Gold contains the essence of Grimnir. They use it to craft their runes and stuff.
The Auric Runemasters craft the runes and also acts like a chaplains of the lodges. They make sure their comrades are not consumed by their craving for gold and it's their duty to distribute the gold between the men.

You know did anyone ever thing Sigmar was that cool anyway?
THATS IT I'M COPYRIGHTING SPACE GOBLINS! WERE GOING TO MAKE A WHOLE LINE OF SPACE GOBLINS TO COMPETE WITH GAMES WORKSHOP!
I'm going to upgrade my 3D printer and produce all the 40k troop types GW never gave a shit about! SPACE GOBLINS, ELDAR CORSAIRS, PLANETARY DEFENSE FORCES, AND HIVE GANG MILITIA! Everyone needs to fuck with GW so bad that they go bankrupt in litigation.
AGE OF SHITMAR!
Took you 25 years to make some descent chaos cultists and you couldn't even give them a fucking rocket launcher!
I'll play 40k alright, I'll finally fucking do it! Just give the core troops (choas cultists) that half your setting's fluff is written about a MOTHER FUCKING ROCKET LAUNCHER!
maybe they just bend their rocket launchers into heavy stubber form?
COULDN'T EVEN GIVE THE DAMN CHOAS CULTIST A FUCKING MELTA-BOMB!
25 YEARS OF WAITING FOR A VIABLE INSURGENT ARMY LIST AND FUCKING GAMES WORKSHOP CANT GIVE THEM ANYTHING TO BLOW UP A TANK! HALF A SENTENCE IN THE FUCKING CODEX WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT. THEY DIDN'T EVEN NEED MAKE THE MODEL WE COULD HAVE KIT BASHED IT!
ITS LIKE THEY DON'T EVEN WANT TO MAKE MONEY, THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE SPACE MARINES. YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS HOW MANY CULTIST I WOULD BUY TO MAKE A COMPETITIVE ARMY LIST? 200-300 EAZY! YOU COULD EVEN LET ME THROW IN A COUPLE OF MUTANT BEASTMEN TO MIX IT UP, BUT NO. I GOT TO BY FUCKING SPACE MARINES.
STAGNANT UNCREATIVE BULLSHIT IS WHAT GAMES WORKSHOP IS ON. RICK PRIESTLY SPILLED THE BEANS, YOU GUYS ARE CHODES! TAKE YOUR LITTLE POWER ARMORED EMPEROR BITCH BOYS AND GO BACK TO VANILLA-HALLA!

Well in whfb, slayers were dwarves who did something so terrible they shaved all their hair off except for a dyed mohawk and sought out the biggest doom they could. They fought without armor because they sought redemption in a glorious death.
These new faggots are just a tasteless aping of what made slayers awesome in the old game, without understanding why they worked. The contrast between stoic, sensible dwarves and wild berserkers was neat. But In aos, EVERYTHING is cranked up so absurdly beyond reason it loses any distinctive flavor in exchange for endless armies of muscle dudes and overdesigned weapons
>>44673755
oh, and duncan
poor duncan
>>44673808
after reding this week's white dwarf I have to say the story of these new dwarves is not nearly as compelling as the old slayer lore
WHAT THE FUCK IS GW'S PROBLEM? IT IS LIKE FOR YEARS WHILE THE WORLD HAS BEEN FACING UNCONVENTIONAL FORCES AND INSURGENCIES THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PRODUCE A SINGLE GENERIC MILITIA MODEL, AN ELDAR CORSAIR, OR A REBEL GROT. IN FANTASY IT IS LIKE THEY FORGOT THAT ADVENTURE GAMING IS THE FUEL FOR FANTASY BATTLE. A DROP OF ROLE PLAYING WOULD TAKE WARHAMMER TO THE NEXT LEVEL. AND AS FAR AS 40K GOES ISN'T THIS SCI-FI CAN'T YOU MAKE SOME SPACE PIRATES FOR FUCK SAKE!

I had to upgrade my Spiderman inventory when it came to ranting about GW. It is a special time to rant about GW though. They dumped a 30 year old franchise, they replaced it with the shittiest game I have ever played, the models are pure shit, and Rick Priestly spilled the beans on what chode warriors these people really are. Yes, it is that special moment when everyone should let it out.

>>44674686
I don't know can you field irregular troops in the Guard? Or do you just list them as guard and dress them as militia?
Hey, don't get me started on Choas Cultists again. They came so close to making it, the a core troop choice, giving choice figs in the box set. and then they took it all away by making the incapable of taking out a tank. They could have given the krak grenades or a melta-bomb or some ratty ass new kind of molotov coctail. But no they had to pidgin hole you into buying tanks and Marines. Fucking assholes, like they couldn't just let people be different. I felt like after all these years they we metal heads and I was punk rock, and punk rock never had a voice in 40k, it was always death metal space marines. And the one chance anyone had to make an irregular force and they fucked it. I like they said fuck Anarcho-punk. Well I think it is time they realized that you can't force everyone to like death metal.

It's very useful considering how much slower the spirit hosts are compared to the mortis engine and hexwraiths.
It also allows you to push hexwraiths through enemy units and then bring them back, or bait your opponent into thinking your forces are disparate and scattered before unifying them in an instant and punching a hole through the enemy line.

>>44677432
That's really a bad business decision for niche market.
You see I never got this "GW wants to sell more than a dozen minis" argument against specialist games. Every game of all the specialist systems I played your warbands eventually became really large. In a couple of gaming circles I played in we started experimenting with insurgent networks and warbands. Still small skirmish gaming but where we scaled it up to 2 or 3 units. It didn't seem like it would be that hard for GW to scale these games up into the the range of 36 models and a few rickety vehicles. It felt like something you could do really easy with an expansion box.
Then your Necormunda militia/mercenary/cult insurgency could be an auxiliary to your Guard army, fodder for your Chaos Marines, Or combine a couple of these irregular groups to make self styled bandit army or some kind of space pirates. Sure they would be squishy, but they would be cheep point costs and GW could sell mountains of them. The whole idea would be hugely customizable and it wouldn't unbalance the game because the basis of all these irregular factions would always be jobber level dudes. None of them would ever get to the level of power armor or Lemon Russes.
The idea is even easier through the lenses of Gorka Morka. Hell it would just look like your average Ork army.
I can see the counter argument where people have to keep track of every leg wound or equipment variation. But it just seems like a point/currency system could eventually purchase your unit some kind of elite status that would be reflected in the squads stats, moral, and equipment. The original gang would buy/recruit new squads of jobbers that maybe didn't have as much autonomy if you scaled it down to a skirmish level or acted as sentries. When you scaled thing back up to play with the big boys you would maybe have one auxiliary command unit that was your original gang and a couple of jobber units that marines could eat for breakfast. The mere role playing aspect of it would push people to expand their collections.
>>44676813
I dunno if they really count as greedy mercenary, since their desire for regular gold is a lie that the Fyreslayers are happy to have it disseminated.
They are more like zealots that are willing to do anything to get parts of their god back.
>>44677747
They look like fucking toys.
I finally have the latest WD in hands, and finally getting a chance to read through it. It is pretty freakin cool. I love the lore behind these guys, can't wait to get the battletome and scan it.
Cant wait for AoS end times where they gather all the dragonballs and wish the world back to how it was in prep for 9th edition
That way I get actual rules again and AoS turncoats get to keep some small bit of their dignity as they pry the round bases off their giant ugly models

I don't like the model myself that much, but I'd say it's a rather easy to paint model. You have no smooth spaces and some kind of structure everywhere. AND you can paint it in flashy colors.
Look at this pic >>44677807
the smaller red scales can be done by drybrushing or just washing and the darker carapace is 'just' highlighting. A fucking lot of highlighting, but if you painted some minis before it's not impossible. It will just take A LOT of time.

I'm actually wondering what will GW do: 1) just simply axe age of sigmar, 2) axe it and bring back fantasy, or 3) just give aos the hobbit-treatment and freeze releases but keep the system to don't lose face
I don't think they have a good outcome in any scenarios. Maybe the second is their best shot, but then again, they would alienate the few aos guys who remained with them, without the certainty of the KoW/9th age guys coming back. It would be worth for the hilarity factor the shill podcasts/other shills would present as they would suddenly agree that AoS was shit and welcome back a real 9th edition. Now to think on it, I'll enjoy 1 and 3 as well, dis gun be gud anyways

Nagash betrayed the alliance of order by making a deal with archaon, fled to his realm and hid from sigmar; then archaon didn't respect the deal and fucked nagash over.
Now nagash is overreacting about sigmar saving some souls from going to the underworld because he's the tyrannical lord of death and his toys shouldn't be taken.
Of course he's not even considering that these are the same souls getting fucked by his betrayal and the consecutive age of chaos.
Carnac is trolling while nagash is being ignorantly egocentric.
Unless what has been stated so far is purposefully wrong or missing some pieces to let GW reveal a totally unexpected third player who has just as planned'd everything under sigmar and nagash noses, in this case nagash is just ignorant and egocentric.

Said the guy who hasn't listened to the audiobooks. What is Sigmar is doing is stealing tons of souls from Nagash. This theft is weakening and killing the poor Necromancer. He is not overreacting. His life and power is on the line. You said some "some"? You lying bastard. You seem to forget that few souls survive the reforging. The rest of the souls are destroyed and become one with Azyr. Sigmar is screwing Shyish whil empowering Azyr. How can anyone justify this? By sending the Stormcast to Nagash's doorstep, Sigmar was taunting Nagash with his theft. Did he expect that Nagash would look at this kindly? Sigmar sent these Stormcast to their death, nay a fate worse than death. Now Nagash will flay Tarus's soul until he knows how Sigmar has usurped master over dead souls from him.
Nobody is being arrogant and egoistical here but you.

>tards sorta embracing the new copyright faction names
More tards, dawi/ashur/druchii/asrai are unique and copyright-able, why give them another new name!?
>>44688700
mastery over dead souls*
>>44688707
nah, those names do not sound retarded, so have no place in AoS
looking at the sprues on the GW site, these new dwarves are incredibly static, almost monopose models. chances are that you will get 3-4 poses in a 10-men unit, so you will have to deal with duplicates
feels like the stormcasts. not so much thought went into designing these models
>>44688118
All we know that Nagash and the Undead are convinced that Sigmar backstabbed them first while Sigmar thinks that Nagash was the backstabber.
Archaon, according to Eveerchosen BT, has put his agents and spies in the alliance of Order. The agents tore rifts between the alliance of Order and then Archaon sundered communication between the faction of the alliance. Archaon engineered the collapse of the alliance from within so the truth might be that nobody initially betrayed each other. Nagash might have cut a deal with Archaon because he feared that Sigmar was going to betray him. This thought might have bee inspired by one of Archaon's agents.
What I want to figure out is who were the agents of Archaon in the alliance of Order.
>>44688726
>he's even got a space marine backpack on his back
jesus
Newbie to Warhammer in general here. Why were Sigmar and Nagash ever allied anyway? I thought they were mortal enemies, what with Nagash being undead Death faction and Sigmar being humans and stuff.
>>44688933
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all of that.
They stood no chance to defeat Chaos unless they united their powers. Which makes me wonder how Sigmar expects to defeat Chaos now that Nagash told him to piss off.
>>44688963
Are the vampires aligned with Nagash as well or are they their own thing? What about the Tomb Kings?
More puzzling is that Nagash still thinks that he can destroy the Chaos Gods. How arrogant must he be to imagine that he can do it alone? Did his numerous defeats at the hands of Archaon teach him nothing?
On a sidenote, Nagash continues his tradition of kidnapping, wedding, and then gruesomely torturing women in AoS.
>>44689061
All undead are driven by instinct to obey Nagash. Most vampires consider Nagash their god and they obey him. However, Vampires are willful creatures so you bound to find some that do their own thing, especially in the time Nagash spent recovering from his defeat.

>>44689597
That's the beauty of it.They offer themselves to Nagash.
Nagash tells them that he will spare their nations if they agree to marry him. When they agree, he takes them and tortures them to death and then turns them to Undead waifus. Then he destroys their nations anyways.
>>44666114

>>44689668
What an asshole! If Sigmar did betray him it's no wonder he did so!
So, I wonder if any of these slayers were designed before AOS and will rank on squares?
Seeing as plenty of minis were designed before AOS even existed.

>now all he has left is to be a dick and bone dead hags.

>>44689919
I doubt these miniatures were designed with square bases in mind, maybe the concept was in development at the time, but it's unlikely the actual realization of the molds was made with ranks in mind.
They sit on 32mm bases according to the site, while normally dwarfs would have fit on 20x20mm, plus the open poses would make them hit each other faces with their axes most of the time BUT many of them also alternate having an arm up in the air and another forward or to one side, you may try with a bit of patience to put them close togheter, or you can make them fill more than one base and create a disorganized looking unit of 20 slayers from 10 fyreslayer acting as fillers.

Hey it had a good run before the mods got involved. Everyone on when I was posting loved it. And you're a sell out piece of shit if you like Age of Shitmar. All and all this feels like business as usual when it comes to Games Workshop. I'm never buying GW retail ever again, and I have talked to 100 people that won't either. But Games Workshop wouldn't know that would they, since they don't do market research?
For everyone who hasent read it yet, the guy that wrought 90% of GW's games just laid it all out.
http://unpluggedgames.co.uk/features/blood-dice-and-darkness-how-warhammer-defined-gaming-for-a-generation/
And for all GW butt boys, ya 4th quarter profits slipped and no one is seeing any light at the end of the tunnel.
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/jan/08/games-workshop-fails-weave-christmas-magic
Pic related, if GW spent less time investing in tacky food courts and more time writing games maybe they would be in shit.
Anybody saw this in the wild?
>>44690611
Man that food court is embarrassing.
>>44690611
Preach it, brother.
>>44690647
Yeah it does look rather shit doesn't it? Especially for England, king of seedy dark well worn in pubs where the bar itself is made of dried on beer over the past 700 years. It's not like they even tried. The barrel stack looks tacky as fuck.
>>44672474
Oh and cheers mate.
>>44682988
Dont go so hard with the wash into the horns and helmet, but otherwise it looks good on the skintone. Of course its hard to see what it looks like in real life. The axe looks like it might be too heavily washed, too. And if your'e going to wash you don't need to do highlights on the pants or cloth, you can just drybrush them.
Drybrush + wash on organic areas and trying to avoid metalic or 'painted' areas is how i typically paint.
>>44690706
Dude watch out, if GW employees hear about you knocking Bugman's food court they will file in here and spend half the thread defending it. You laugh, but it has happened before.
>>44690780
Now that I'd pay to see (but no more than a fiver, I'm not that interested).
Problem is all the GW employees I knew survived on McDs and the likes, and thus I guess it's an improvement when they do there on a business trip and eat food comparable to 'spoons.
>>44690780
Mate, there's a huge difference between criticising GW and spamming the thread with spiderman pictures like some 12 year old /b/tard.
You know even though I never played a lot of Lord of the Rings you never here people knock it. I think that is because everyone knew it was the right thing to. Everyone knew that Rick would do his best to make it a good game. And LOTR was a great all around game and true to the story. The fans and the story came first with LOTR and that is why GW cant stand it anymore.
Hey guys, I've moved on to a better place to discuss this game. There's an Age of Sigmar Facebook group with about 2.3k members and is very active. Questions are answered quicker and lots of good discussions daily. It definitely renewed my faith in the fan base and in the game. If you're sick of the stupid shitposting and haters, it's free of them.
Seriously guys, check it out. With ignorance like this >>44690611, it can be easy to see why /tg/ has become worse than whineseer.
>>44690918
Age of Shitmar is spam. The entire gaming world knows it. AoSHIT is like a 12 year old /b/tard and it need to be treated as such on this board.
>>44691002
OH SHIT! Thanks for the update. I can get 50 dudes on Facebook ready to participate.
So I know I'm a year late to this party (I don't really play whfb and just know of it because gw), but, is it true there are no points costs? How do you build an army and organize a game?
>>44691288
2 mature players eyeball it
Or use a fan made points system
>>44691288
You pretend to not be a socially stunted autist and speak to your opponent about what you think would be a fair game.
It works better for narrative scenarios than pitch battles. Some of the most fun I've had since I was a kid smashing army men together with friends, really.
You know, AoS sorta made me realized just what sort of jackass power gamer I turned out to be. I wonder if somewhere along the line I forgot how to havefun.
>>44690429
so fucking what, given the history of humanity you can make up any shit and find a meaning for it in some language, grammar only goes so far
still retarded
>>44691324
Oh no no no. My friends and I are very good sports, but the fun of a game SYSTEM is to put hard rules to your pretend. If I wanted to make up and eyeball and guess I'd play 0ed dnd and throw beanbags around and pretend to be a fucking unicorn
How could they replace a functioning system with this? I understand releasing it beside it as a loose way to play, but what were they thinking?
>>44691395
Then get together with your friends and pick one of the fanmade systems, there should be links in the OP.
>>44691383
>You pretend to not be a socially stunted autist and speak to your opponent about what you think would be a fair game.
and this works 100% everytime, because the usual wargaming player has a degree in game design
>>44691499
That's the one issue about it. If you have all day to have fun with friends, its great. When you have 90 minutes to play a game with your local chucklefuck at the FLGS who is sublimating their needs into a board game, it's not as nice.It helps that I usually try to minmax everything in a competitive fashion. It has sort of prepared me to eyeball balanced encounters well.
A game can be fun even if you lose, though. You just have to not be a salty faggot and enjoy the ride. :^)
>>44691079
Yeah probably part of that group of 100 of your brave patriots who will never buy GW retail again
>>44691395
>but what were they thinking?
"people won't argue about balance if there's none"
"miniatures' sales will not be damaged by poor rules"
"the home rules people will come up with are likely to be better than what we're willing to invest for"
The marketing team looked down the possibility of an actual ruleset being a great deal of selling wargame's miniatures because games workshop sells miniatures, not games; space marines sell, inserting them in fanta...Age of Sigmar(c) will surely be enough, and our customers are collectors anyway, not that we did marketing researchs about it, we don't believe in facts and hire on attitude, not capabilities after all ;^)
>>44691499
As a matter of fact, I do have a degree in game design.
So in regards to Manfred in the last audio book.
So why did they make Manfred a "good" guy after perviously having him fuck over everyone's plans to save the world that was. Now he wants to be butt buddies with some stormcast because of muh trust. Feels like some like Vlad would have been a more sensible choice but I guess he doesn't have a big plastic model. That said I really enjoyed the audio books best AOS story I've seen so far
Shitposting aside, how is AoS going in your local group? I want to play it because im often strapped for time, so using a small skirmish styled force appeals to me, but they just closed the local gw here and I think aos is still a bit of a sore spot at my flgs.
I just want to throw down on a small battle and get going.
>>44690948

Why there's no anon posting new Fyreslayers' fluff from White Dwarf 102?
>>44694488
Because it's shit. If Wargaming had something like filler content, then it would be fyreslayers fluff.
Let me sum it up for you.
"Super greedy mercenaries fight for anyone for the sake of Ur-Gold which they believe contain the essence of their sundered god"
>>44694488
because maybe there's no fluff to talk about apart
>fyreslayer are born from the fight between grimnir and vulkatrix
>they make runes in their own skin
>they collect gold, but especially ur-gold that contains the essence of grimnir, to the point of acting as mercenaries
>they're, like, totally cool and angry and shit
>I mean, they ride giant lizards and are obsessed with fire
>>44694488
I'm not typing it all out because I'm lazy, and can't post pics, but anything you want filling in on? A few bits and pieces that may not have been leaked so far
>The ur-gold runes really do empower them with mystic power, although every reference is careful to say "they believe" it's grimnir's power or something rather than stating it outright.
>They get gold-lust for more once they've had some ur-gold runes done on them, but the bonds of kinship help control it, along with their priests (who make sure every warrior gets his due of gold).
>Each lodge's ur-gold is kept in a rune-sealed vault that only the runefather can open. Keys are indeed a big deal, every model carries one somewhere.
>They're still just as honourable as dwarfs, once they give their word they don't break it, and get just as pissed off at oath breakers.
>There's a reference that the runemaster priests may share some heritage with "similar fire-obsessed bearded folk from the world-that-was".
>>44694667
There's more lore than just that.
>Auric Runemasters are the High-priest of the fyreslayers. They forge runes, can sense Ur-Gold and are the lorekeepers.
>Vulkite Berzerkers are the footsoldiers.
>Hearthguard Berzerker are the personal guards of the leaders of a Lodge, appointed by the Runefathers.
>Hearthguard are like bank guards that guard the gold and the priesthood. Their Magmapikes are weapons that shoot molten rock and is powered by runes.
>>44694589
>Because it's shit.
So? Just like anything else in AoS
>>44694988
yeah, but that's the background of the warscrolls
does the white dwarf at least reveal who the fuck is the grimmwrath berserk?
assuming the runeson is the guy with the big axe on foot, that the runesmither and the runefather are the guys on the salamanders and that the battlesmith is the standard bearer.
>>44695991
Afraid not, it only goes into detail about the vulkite beserkers, the two hearthguard units, and the runemaster. There's a little bit about the runefather, but not even confirmation of what model is what. Oh, and the auric runesons are the runefather's literal sons, and are a bit like princes. In one bit of fluff they go off to set up their own lodges after the runefather falls in battle, carrying on the legacy.
But, generally, they seem to be keeping fluff about the other units back until they appear in their own WD. Sorry.
>>44696146
>generally, they seem to be keeping fluff about the other units back until they appear in their own WD.

I really wishbthey'd fucking finish this setting already. It has potential, but its so painfully unfinished that its really turing a lot of people off to being invested in the setting as a whole.
>>44696287
Yeah. I mean, I'm one of those weirdos that like the stormcast models, and I was getting fucking fed up with the drawn-out stormcast release after a while.
>>44696287
That's a quick way to make people lose interest and for them to lose money.
To make maximum amount of money one has to bring new lore only when relevant and attached to a product itself. A white dwarf just help sets up what they are going to sell. It's not a battletome and it shouldn't be.

Where I live there is no local group. The nearest GW store is an hour away. Most retailers in this area cater to modelers, ccg's and rpg's. I was in the Army until 2011 and in Colorado Springs where my last duty station was there were 3 GW stores within 15 minutes of me and WHFB was King. At least as popular as 40k. So I ended up with 5 different armies. Now I have noone but my wife and my seven year old son to play with. However, I have convinced 3 people to start collecting/playing AOS. One bought a starter set on the cheap, one is going to be starting a Nurgle force and one was gifted a Doomfire Warlocks box and is now going to build a DE army.

warriors of chaos if you want your army to be in the spotlight and supported for the length of the life of Age of Sigmar. GW is 100% behind them unlike their chaos counterparts in 40k. Orcs are iffy.
