I think so. If we have to draft our wastes out of packs and they aren't supplied by stores, people will have very few of them, so land destruction will be ok. Plus, even if they are supplied, anyone with them will basically be running tricolour, so you can fuck them up.

Cohort would be a better mechanic if it didn't make you tap the creature with the cohort ability. That way you'd be able to activate the ability multiple times via tapping otherwise useless allies, token allies and the like.
I like the Ally creature type though. Its a nice concept. I'd like an opposite creature card, something like a Renegade type, Enemy, Defector or Adversary creature type with its own mechanics.

Run Transgress the Mind. It gets rid of boardwipes/counterspells/planeswalkers and gives you a bit of fodder for wasteland strangler.
That said, I'd also probably get rid of some number of Eldrazi Obligator (since it's a 5 drop in your 21 land deck) and run that 2B 3/2 that drains your opponent for 2 on ETB if you control another colorless creature.

This is what I don't get, on their page explaining about cohort, they say that the good thing about cohort, is that the ally that you need to tap can be any ally that you just casted. This led me think that the cohort allies would be low costed, so that next turn, when you cast another one, you can tap both. But almost all cohort are overcosted as fuck and one of the only guys that interacts with it costs fucking 3 that enters before most cohorts.

The halo around the eyes was supposed to be a punishment for the angels. A blinding light that constantly stung their eyes and obstructed their view to symbolize how blind they had been to the true nature of the Eldrazi. But I guess it's a not a big hindrance to have a dazzling ring of light right over your eyes, in fact I guess it makes you physically stronger and able to see more for some reason. Of course, it only makes sense that it's given out by one of the two only angels in the history of Zendikar that never had a halo over the eyes.

Very, although most of it is based on fluff. The eldrazi are one of the coolest things in Magic yet most of their art for this block is terrible for some reason the story of really should have been how they wiped out the last of the resistance and killed off a major planeswalker or two rather than this "motley band of superheroes unites to defeat lovecraftian horrors through the power of diversity and friendship" garbage we're getting now. I don't even mind the whole superteam plot but why did it have to come at the expense of the one truly mysterious threat left in the setting? They really missed the chance to save that for a block with Bolas cast as a supervillain, have some good cheesey fun with it.
Also the cards are mediocre but that isn't surprising, WotC thinks that new players want a simpler and weaker environment for some reason so everything they put out is inevitably going to skew towards that. If you're disappointed by that reality then you're probably a bit stupid, there has been no indication that anything else was going to happen.

Or since they're adding a sixth basic they could also make the much less significant change of finally letting those words before the hyphen mean something.

They could just word Cohort similar to Extort or Manifest with "To Cohort, tap this creature and another Ally you control. This ability may be triggered without paying its cost if this creature is tapped to pay a Cohort ability."
