Could wizards use special mirrors to amplify their spells?
>>
>>44630419
Yup. But it adds the lawful and evil descriptor to all spells. Standing between mirrors maximizes and extends them, but they can't move from that point
>>
>>44630419
I personally would say no, magic isn't a beam of light, in the sense that you couldn't shoot a fire ball at a mirror and amplify it, but magical sources of light, like create light or Lazer based spells of sorts might work

I love how many trillions of dollars is spent on and take up the lives of brilliant people for shit like this that is sent into space to stare. At stuff. Far away. And millions of people starve or are blow up in wars, and no one really gives a shit.

>And millions of people starve or are blow up in wars, and no one really gives a shit.

Should we care?
>>
>>44630517

If everyone was busy making mirrors we wouldn't need wars in the first place.
>>
>>44630419
Depends on the setting.
>>
>>44630517
If you actually cared you'd do something besides bitch about it on a honduran basket weaving forum.
>>
>>44630517
>trillions
The military budget is many many times the size of NASA's. If we spent that much money on space we'd be colonizing the moon right now.

Because stagnation is death.

There will always be starving people, there will always be wars. But if people didn't bother to spend on scientific progress then there would be no need for higher education, and we would be stuck in a stagnant technical level. A people that never bothers to look to the future will always live in the past.

Magic mirror lore pertaining to wizards, a wizard has to have a connection to each mirror "personal belongings" you can't just say I use a mirror to redirect a spell. Just like any magic there are ways to use and abuse the ability. Just like scrying you have to learn.

3rd worlders have starved/died in the pasy, are starving/dieing now, and will starve/die for the foreseeable future regardless of all our humanitarian efforts. They are a lost cause.

I get what you're saying, but it requires context.

The yearly budget of NASA is just over 17 billion. That sounds like a lot, until you realise that more than twenty billion gets spent per year on movies in the US. Not exciting enough? 90 billion gets spent per year on alcohol in the US alone. 200 billion dollars are spent in the US on ADVERTISING. Still not enough? The US annual military budget is more than 660 billion.

Space exploration at least gives us useful (earthly) technologies as a side-effect. It engages the creativity of engineers, inspiring to produce what they would otherwise never think to design. If money were the solution to world hunger, we would be better off cutting our spending on booze, crappy remakes, and sponsoring rebellion and terrorism in the Middle East than cutting our space budget.

In the setting I'm currently building sorcery is the extremely intellectual, mechanistic form of magic. It used to require all kinds of crazy tools to do anything significant, basically an entire massive lab worth of prisms, mirrors, bells, wands, athame and symbols to create any important effect.
But then the great research wizard Yvarthenael developed a branch of mystical mathematics that he called Celestial Calculus, but everybody now calls Yvarthenael Transforms, which allow much smaller, more portable sets of symbols and tools. Mirrors are no longer required except for research sorcery, though some sorcerers construct their symbol books to use a mirror as one of their primary tools. It's mostly out of style, but was considered to be best for mind affecting spells.

There's also a witch that uses an enchanted mirror to capture the "eidolon" of a person, which she can summon as a kind of doppelganger or use to control people.

The third world, or more often these days the developing world, is a very modern concept. It doesn't describe how things have been for the history of the world. It's just willful ignorance to declare that things have never changed, and therefore never can.

we're never colonizing space in any meaningful way though
>>
>>44630419
Mine already does. An array of burnished brass mirrors in the covenant's dedicated ritual space adds +5 to her ignem and imaginem ceremonial casting totals.

Think about it thus way:
Every dollar spend on NASA means that some American out there get's a dollar in pay. That means that thry will most likely spend that dollar again, which fuels the economy so much, that in the end the USA earned 3 dollars in taxes.
Look it up, NASA is returning money at a 300% rate.

Those people literally outnumber dogs. They're a mass-produced good at best, and a waste of resources inhibiting the long-term advancment of technology at worse.

In 3.pf terms, the mirror would be a Metamagic Rod, possibly with a "big and clumsy" modifier.
