What was Ork technology like before humans became a space faring race?

Did they still have trucks, guns, bombers and so many things analogus to human technology? Or would their tech have been influenced far more common and nearby Eldar or Necron whom they would have had much more experience fighting and looting.

Furthermore, their language is distinctly similar to Gothic including several words and names which directly mimic Gothic language (such as captain "Bludd Flag" or words like "Trukks", "shootas", and "axes" being referred to verbatim by both Orks and humans). Somehow Gothic creeped its way into Orkish language, what reason would there be for that.
>>
At one time the eldar were the biggest space fairing race.

Now it is the Humans.

Soon the tyranids, so expect looted carnifexes and bio space fist shooters to be more common place amongst the orks.
>>
>>44580102
We're already getting some of that in the Octarius war.

I wonder if the Orks will start taunting the Tyranids in gutteral shouts and roars.
>>
You know why

>Because it's a made up setting, that reflects >our society, or parts of it.

>Because it's cool

>Because no one want to read a codex or ork story that is unreadable because they use their own fucking growling language

>GRRUUUUU, HMPF, WRAUW, HRTHRTRHHHRRR, MLMLMLMMMMZHHGG
wauw, great fucking read that was
>>

>blood axes painted in chitinous colors and trying to act as a hive mind.
>>
>>44580355
Tau and Eldar have their own language and societies that are not based upon humanity.

Their codexes are translated into the English without the alliterartion that orks have. But their words in their own tongue are distinctly their own in universe.

Gue'vesa translates into "human helpers", but is still a Tau word in universe.

In universe, the Orks literally call their trucks "trukks".
>>
>>44580355
>No one would like an Ork original language

Hey, Ghazghkull Thraka is a badass name and that's entirely Orkish. Unlike Grimskull or Smashface.
>>
>>44580439
No, they have their one language. Old Yarrick learnt Ork when he was young.
>>
>>44580064
>ork tech
Probably more or less the same. That shit be genetically encoded. You just thinK it "looks human" because you're an anthropocentric nigger.
>language
They have their own language. It's mostly grunts and shouts punctuated with the odd kicking and punching. Orks learn Gothic so as to better taunt and mock humans.

They even have their own written glyphic language too.

They have their own language and grammer yes, but the similarity of some words and concepts is far too coincidental.

>Og kart ug-wort grim-zod uz-bad waa gut-dreg

"Kart" and "cart" for example.

>>
>>44580526
No, I think it looks human because everything single other race uses such vastly different and unique technology like shurikens and gausse weapons, or wraithbone and living metal.

Unless you intend to say the Eldar probably used gunpowder and drove cars in their early years.

The orks predate humanity anyway, if anything its more accurate to say that humanity copied the orks somehow.
>>
>>44580557
The Eldar, Necrons, and Tau most likely did use gunpowder and wheeled vehicles and at one point resembled "human tech", because those aren't fucking inherently human nor do you just skip from throwing rocks to plasma guns.
>>

what was that ork that spoke to an inquisitor or something in perfect high gothic.

Maybe they speak their own language but its the WAAAGH field the thing that makes it understandable to humans.

Maybe to a Tau it seems like they are talking a crude versión of their language
>>
>>44580863
Anyone know this?
>>
>>44581293
Stop forcing the WAAAGGHH magic meme in everything.
Orks have been fighting humans for the last 20k years.
Orks have been fighting gothic speaking humans for the last 10k years
Humans are the best rivals orks had in the last millenia
Of course ork will speak human. It is not funny to insult your enemy if they cannot understand you.
>>
>>44583006
The dumbest most half-arsed explanation ever.

Hur derp ork magic makes their technology work.

It was better when the brain boys genetically embedded technology in ork genes.
>>
>>44583006
Wait, did Orks fight with Dark Age of Technology era humans? Neat.

Yes. At least that was the deal in older lore
>>

It's still the deal, considering that in recent fluff there are ancient Necron Necroglyphics dating back to the War in Heaven that shows Necrons lording over Eldar and Ork slaves as they build temples for them.

An Ork Hive Mind sounds like it would be very dangerous.

Well yeah, gunpowder is just chemical combustion. The Chinese invented gunpowder as a failed life elixir because the Chinese also drank mercury.

Surely someone else in the galaxy would invent it when just screwing around with chemicals.

>>44580876 is right actually, at least going by extremely old fluff: 1st edition acknowledged the presence of human words in the Ork lexicon, and attempted to justify it by saying the Orks had indeed looted parts of the Imperial language.

>Ranging through space as they do, the Orks inevitably make contact with outposts of the Imperium and associated civilisations like that of the Squats. Millennia of such periodic contact, whether by trade or war, has made its mark on the Ork languages, as words from the Imperial tongue have been adopted by the Orks. The Orks are prone to adopt or copy anything that impresses them, and useful words and phrases are no exception. Consequently, there is a marked influence of the Imperial Tongue in all the Ork dialects. There are even tribes of Orks roaming the galaxy who speak as their mother tongue, a basic, crude, and modified form of the language of the Imperium. Many more Orks with a pure language of their own can also understand this pidgin Imperial tongue, and use it to communicate with Orks from other tribes – especially if their own dialects are mutually unintelligible.

Though really, some, if not all, of it can be put down to the same reason Eldar have a word for vermin species, most commonly humans, that sounds an awful lot like "monkey".

>>44580863
>>44582927
I think there might have been such a thing in Baneblade by Guy Haley, or something else he wrote. And in the 3rd edition codex, Nazdreg was reported by human prisoners to speak "good Imperial Gothic".

>>44583138
>It was better when the brain boys genetically embedded technology in ork genes.

That hasn't changed. The fluff that the magic belief thing came from was ABOUT the Orks' genetic knowledge, but literally no one has read it.
>>
>>44580526
No one of the Horus heresy authors said they were more primitively in their tech
The average ork was the size of a modern war boss due to not being culled
But their tech ideas were inspired by humans - eg brotherhood of storm they build something inspired by a Titan but the term gargant not in use at the time
>>
>>44583779
Thanks anon, that is exactly what OP was looking for.

I guess that answers it, the Orks have been heavily influenced by humanity since its expansion both in language and most of their equipment is based on looting the Imperium.

Which begs me to wonder what it was like when the Krorks fought the Necrontyr and the Eldar.

Can you imagine it? Looted Wraithguards or Orks using looted Gauss flayers as the norm instead of the exception.

>>44583668
>>44580604
I guess I can accept that. The Eldar probably didn't have wraithbone or psychic technology in their early days.

Can't help but feel it might be interesting to see what the Eldar or Necrontyr age of musketry or that of gas fueled automobiles was like. The Eldar only discovered wraithbone as a necessity to combat the Necrontyr after all
>>
>>44583888
That would be cool to see a War in Heaven line of miniatures and books.
>>
>>44583526
Take into account the WAAAAGH already has an intense psychic presence in the warp which interferes with other psykers of both Chaos and Imperial.
>>
>>44583888
i don't think the krork fought the eldar
>>
>>44583977
I was more thinking of all Orks having access to all Ork intelligence throughout the galaxy at all time.
>>
>>44583995
Their orks, they're made for fighting, you can expect when there was a lull in the fighting when the Necrons went hibernating who they turn to.
>>
>>44580604
We know for a fact that the Tau used gunpowder at one point (before the age of the Ethereals, those who would become the Earth caste would protect their cities from nomadic barbarians with cannons). The Necrons might have, though we know so little of the Necrontyr before the C'tan that it's pretty much impossible to say.

Eldar... Actually, probably not. Not only were they created by the Old Ones for a specific purpose (and it's not unfeasible they may've been given a great deal of technology by them from that very moment, rather than being let to fuck about on their own until they were useful as soldiers), and besides, the ubiquity of psychic powers among them must be taken into consideration when envisioning the technological development of their species. It's literally possible they may've never built wheeled vehicles or made gunpowder weapons, for example, because telekinesis was simply ALWAYS THERE for transportation and launching projectiles. They may very well have passed straight from "using their own natural capabilities" to "gravity control".
>>
>>44584062
psychic powers were probably a lot different than in the 41st millenium because the warp was calm. also i believe the old ones mainly used psychic technology (probably why they built the webway). so, because the eldar were their 1st warrior race they gave everything related to warp stuff to them. then when the eldar were failing and didn't have enough soldiers to keep on fighting, the old ones made what would later become orks who are especially resilient and can never be truly wiped out - balancing the weaknesses of the eldar

Yeah, Weirdboyz - and psykers in general, barring the odd snowflake (are there even any others besides Tigger?) - don't have a great track record when it comes to making contact with the gestalt psychic presence of the entire Tyranid race.

>Above the settlements and junkyards of Orrok, thunder rumbled and the skies turned from blue to grey to black. The Weirdboy psykers of the tribes upon Orrok began to gibber in fear - something was clawing at the back of their brains, something with an infinite hunger that focused upon the Orks like the eye of a starving predator. A few tried to raise the alarm, but it was too late.

Dem Ork spores fighting Tyranid phage cells tho.
