Anyone have any side by size comparison of 1/48 sized tanks next to a Leman Russ?
I hate the shitty tread design on them and looking to replace all tanks with someone else.
Any good suggestions?
I'd like to use German WW2 tanks, like the Panzer iii or iv.

I can't give you any suggestions, but I can give you this modernized Panther picture.

Don't have the pic on my phone but irc the 1/48 p4 was a little longer and little shorter. Pretty close overall and the guy was able to stick a battlecannon on it as well

I always find "modernized" stuff a big silly. Like you got "modern roman legions" and it's a dude with a lorica segmentata style kevlar vest and a galea style tactical helmet, carrying a gladius style tactical knife and a riot tower shield.
So from this thread I can pretty much conclude 99% of u guys use GW kits only?
I don't have a specific picture but http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php? has a shitton of IG stuff.

40k has a weird scale, it doesn't really fit with 1/48 scale, or indeed any other scale.

Not 1/48 but whatever

>B1 bis as Leman Russ
Aw yisssssss
It's perfect for the role
>>44567547
I know 40K is suppose to be 1/56 Heroic, or rather that is the closest you would get but the Heroic fucks it all up so you need to make things bigger.
1/35 is too big as can bee seen in:
I bought some 1/35 M270 MRLS to use as Wyverns but they were Baneblade length.
I recently found out about 1/48 scale but there aren't that many models available in that scale.
What I'd like to see is a 1/48 Panzer iv next to a Leman Russ, Rhino or whatever so you could get some clue on the scale.
>>44567569
40K L (cm) W (cm) H (cm)
Leman Russ 11 8 7.5
1:35 scale L (cm) W (cm) H (cm)
Pzkpfw III 15.8 8.3 7.1
1:48 scale L (cm) W (cm) H (cm)
Pzkpfw III 11.5 6.1 5.2
According to this a 1/35 Panzer iii would fit better than a 1/48 as the measurements are almost perfect except for it being a bit longer.

What would a 1/48 one look like? The 1/35 looks a bit too big as stated. Perhaps you can shorten it?
Just get a 1/56 Panzer from Warlord or Rubicon models.
They're sized perfectly for 40k's scale.
Try early WWII light tanks in 1:35. Some were tall and dorky looking, just right for 40k.
>>44568328
I've requested some pics from Rubicon, I fear they may be too small. If 1/48 is too small then 1/56 is even smaller.
>>44568328
This is a Warlord Panther next to a Russ right?
1/56 seems too small
>>44565142
1/35 is closer for 40k.
>>44569055
1/35 is too big as can be seen in the pics above.
1/56 is too small as can be seen in the pics above.
Now if someone could just post some 1/48 scale tanks next to a Leman Russ we would be golden.
>>44569258
I did, 1/35 is fine. The length issue stems from the Russ having such derpy proportions. A guard tank commander will fit much easier in a 1/35 cupola than a 1/48 one.

Venezuela still uses M18s though. So WW2 era stuff isn't as bad as neo legionaries.
read this, it's not as simple as just picking up a kit and using it as is, not if you want it to look right: http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=5661

The last upgrade of the T-34/85 was done in 1969 (the T-34/85 Obj. 1969 or T-34/85M). The Panther itself remained in use by the french until the mid 1950s.
