What's the roleplaying scene like in North Korea?
>>
I imagine it's mostly pretending to have a dinner
>>
Everyone is involved in a huge LARP and the central plot is that things are fine. If anybody breaks character at any point and starts screaming about how they have to eat rats to survive, they're executed for trying to ruin the game.

It's a pretty hardcore larp. Probably one of those Nordic ones.
>>
Kinda small, there only one party in the whole country.
>>

It's pretty popular, actually. Everybody pretends to like the leader.
>>
Railroady bullshit. If you refuse to praise the Great Leader (obviously a shitty DMPC self-insert, just look at the guy. A fat no-good fuck who still supposedly has superpowers and infinite wisdom), it's instantly "Work camp, everyone you know and love dies."

Don't listen to this sort of trash.
North Korea has some of the best Role Play Gaming in the world.
Everyone is given incredible freedom to be whatever they want, and most, if not all characters advance from level 1 to 30 within a few months of play. Wizards are completely balanced with melee characters, and diversity is encouraged at all times with regards to racial choices (though, almost 100% of people choose to play humans, of their own free will).
All DM's run a fair and balanced game as described in the state sponsored game manual, to the glorious enjoyment of all!
Not only that but Glorious Leader actually runs several games himself, where he acts as DM for several other world leaders and famous celebrities. They all rate his DMing style very highly.
Truly, there has never been a better place on all of the earth to play games!

What about the allegations that the Glorious Leader orders expensive specialty dice overseas and yet makes everyone else pay for snacks!?
>>
>>44548109

I used to live in SOUTH Korea and the RPG scene there is super-small because most people don't have the free time for such hobbies.

In the North people have even LESS free time because their days off involve literal farm work - yes, even skilled technical experts have to spend at least a few days a month doing farmwork to help meet agri quotas - and the rest is spent doing your typical dictatorship stuff of "study groups" to reinforce ideology and so on.

The state regulates your calendar, so you have almost no truly "free time" in North Korea.

Complete hogwash! Where did you hear such a rumor? Please include names and addresses. They will be sent signed pictures of glorious leader's personal dice, which can clearly be seen to be made by exceptional North Korean craftsmen. No other country could possibly produce dice fine enough to serve in his games. In fact, this year, all families will be receiving their own sets of dice in commemoration of unprecedented levels of production and prosperity!

Let me show you my next character, he's named Kim Jong Il.

>But that's what your last character was called

No dude it's his son, sort of, he's basically God given form anyway, this is just his next incarnation.

>A God? I don't think we're doing a high powered campaign.

Don't worry about it, I don't actually have any weapons that are useful.
>>
>>44548176
Three, actually. Juche, socialist and shamanist.
>>
>>44548109
I heard the DM never brings snacks and the pieces are all second-hand Chinese stuff, but at least no one breaks character. Not for long anyway.
>>
>>44548151
Yeah nordic korean.
>>
>>44551577
The second part are in Juche, along with facism, konfucianism and ayn rand style liberialism (the elite can do whatever they want, everyone else is worthless).
>>
>>44548109
It's actually pretty decent. When I was there for vacation, I got my guide and translator to play a bit of Call of Cthulhu which I set in North Korea itself. Asked the guide to help me with setting details.

Basic idea was "brave squad of North Korean soldiers (and one government official) have to deal with Japanese Cthulhu cult". They understood it right away and said they played a similar but locally made game on breaks.

>North Korea
>vacation

And they let you GO? "Vacation goers" like their prime kidnap targets.
>>
>>44548176

Nah, there's solidly 3 political parties in NK.

Ching, Chong, and Chang.

They are all the same.
>>
>>44551895
All you have to do is follow instruction and not bring a suitcase full of bibles to be fine. Your much safer than the citizens.
>>
>>44551895
I knew a guy who's dad went to North Korea for business every few months. Took him along once.

He said there are giant, beautiful glass buildings and skyscrapers along the border to China. They were completely empty. No one was allowed to live or work in them; just for show.
And the city they were in, I forget the name, had marketplaces and grocery stores with food you're not allowed to buy.
Also their equivalent of the CIA trailed them everywhere. Literally from the moment they got off the plane to their hotel, to the dad's job, to the hotel, and back to the airport. He said that was the creepiest part.

North Korea is fucking crazy. Their leader is even crazier.
>>
>>44551895
north korea is actually one of the safest countries you could go to as a tourist. mainly because if anyone fucks with you...it risks you telling your friends and thus them not getting tourist money...and they want that tourist money bad.
>>
>>44552217
How are you going to tell your friends if you get kidnapped?
>>
>>44552256
well u would just vanish and not come by...but u know what i mean. if u dissapear after going to north korea...but they dont want that happening to tourists because they want tourist money.

Hold up, hold up, so there are North Korean RPGs? Did they tell you how you could get a copy?
