What is the most fabulous character you have ever made?
>>
>>44508240

My last Shadowrunner, Montecore.

He was flamboyant, he wore a Liberace coat with electrified fur trim for use in close quarters. (The Distinctive Style drawback). He spoke with a camp german accent and flirted with basically anything with a pulse. His contacts included former lovers (including an in-the-closet arms dealer) and the owner of a drag bar he used to perform at.

Montecore was also an 9-foot tall troll and the team's heavy weapons specialist.

A filthy rich, stupid young man vampire with a penchant for blue suits, cowboy hats and pearls.

He had an elderly manservant ghoul who spoke in a hoarse, posh accent "Very good, young sir" and spent his off time in drug fueled orgies with prostitutes in his mansion.

The game was set in 80s Miami.

Pic, not related, but fabulous.

This kind of Chaotic Randumb shit is why nobody takes Shadowrun seriously.

Also the fact that you need to roll a shit ton of dice to resolve a single attack.

But the tacky setting is almost as offensive as the overcomplicated RIFTS-tier rules.

It's a shit personality, though, so it's no better.

Try inventing a semi-interesting character to play, and THEN you can talk to me about whether or not you have a right to consider yourself a roleplayer.

Given that you play a troll in elaborate clothing in an RPG that hasn't been worth shit since the 1980s, you'd probably enjoy it, but sadly I'm not interested in anything but explaining why Montecore (nice rip-off of "manticore," by the way, I bet you feel real clever) is a shitty cliche.
>>

Montecore is the name of one of Siegfried and Roy's tigers.

I think that's meant to be the Confederate battle flag.

Also the nazi flag, the fag flag, and a bunch of stars of david and inverted pentagrams because why the fuck not.

> implying I give a shit about two fags and their pet tiger
> implying ANYONE gives a shit about two fags and their pet tiger

Try again. Obscure references to old Vegas shows does not make a good RPG character.

A good RPG character has:

> a backstory
> a well-fleshed-out personality
> interesting and believable motivations
> non-annoying quirks
> does not clash with setting

Those are the criteria for a good RPG character. Not a name referencing a pet tiger. That doesn't mean shit. Deal with it.

I have one I'm particularly fond of.

>Be mod on an RPG forum
>Forum often hosts play-by-post D&D games
>We set up a mod-only PbP D&D game, on the suggestion of a couple of diehard fans
>Campaign pitch is that we are the "strongest" representatives of seven kingdoms called together to face a powerful enemy
>Other players show up with a bunch of the usual tough-guy no-fun-allowed types
>one is especially bad, cleric of Kord, muh strength above all and so on
>enter me
>sent by elf king
>elf illusionist, and the kingdom's greatest artist
>I basically do art performances with complex illusion spells
>Play him as ambiguously flamboyant and lewd as possible
>make passes at every party member, male and female
>actually the character was based on a famous drawfag we had on the forum
>Kordplayer is pissed
>Quest starts, go into some dungeon
>Kordplayer metagames, who is he strongest here, and so on
>tries to assert alpha status
>first fight
>he buffs up, smashes up a dude
>brags about it
>I cast hypnotic pattern or something like that
>encounter solved (thanks caster edition)
>"see Kordfag, my pretty colors are stronger than your muscles"

I had a lot of fun with that character. Great DM, decent rooster of players, and I could ham it up as much as I wanted. Plus, I got to piss off the resident powerplayer, so that's a plus. I know that reading it in here would get me calls of ThatGuy, but I never did anything actually creepy, and the others were onboard with the joke (except that other guy).

Exalted.
Dawn Caste Solar.
Name?
>"Resplendent Dragonfly who Disturbs the Dew from a Marshland Plant's Heavy Waxen Leaves in the Early Days of Summer When the (blah blah blah)"
Resplendent Dragonfly for short.
I was the ONLY person in the game familiar with the setting of Exalted. Yes, that includes the GM, who only wanted to run the game because, quote "It has really neat damage mechanics, like, you can get crippled and stuff."
I tried to explain "This is a game where you play a being that can kill gods and forge their abstract concepts into the weapons and armor you bear, set in a world that functionally stretches to infinity in all directions, and encompasses all of creation, the heavens, and hells, all of it are found within. You are Goku, You are Superman, but you are not alone at this level. You gain additional dice if you describe your attacks fancily enough. And can face penalties for repeating things too much."

Anywho, I sunk 5 dots into appearance, and was decisively going to play RD as a typical Androgynous character who bitches would always want, and guys would question themselves over. Appropriate for 5 dots in Appearance, plus 5 dots in some social skills, and at least one power.

Problem was, I was playing with:

>The Guy who always plays Human Wizard.
>The Guy who always plays Dwarf Fighter.
>The Guy who always plays Elf Rogue
>The Guy who doesn't care what he's playing, because he'll be building a new M:tG deck during the game.

And, I regularly play either guys or girls at the table... They always end up being the Long Suffering Straight man to the rest of the party's wacky hyjinks, so, yeah, uh, when I didn't say which gender RD was... They got... inquisitive. and I got defensive. They rolled all of their investigative and perception related dice, and i rolled a meager amount of stealth dice...
They critically botched. I succeeded.
So RD stayed a mystery gender for the rest of the campaign. and was fabulous.

D&D 5e
Wild Magi sorcerer named, Jacob Basil Lysander Peregrine Montgomery Whiteshield.
He was a man of expensive taste, be it lovers, wine, food, or clothes. And as a noble he could afford paying for all of his desires for most of his life. That is until he got kicked out of his families home and was cut out of the family fortune until he could prove himself to his father. He met the party at a seedy tavern he would have never been seen in if he was still living his old life.

By the time I stopped playing him, he had disowned his family, acquired a work ethic, made his now-disowned-family bankrupt through clever business deals, and become a major lord in the world we were playing. He also had quite the amount of lovers, male and female, the only vice from his past life he couldn't shake.

dnd 4e Warlock. Always claimed to be a wizard. His concealment-granting power was a thick layer of sparkles, and he liked to pose when casting invocations at people. Since he was a star pact, and these were usually radiant damage. Basically a bishounen covered in sparkles who would pose, causing intense laser beams to kill people with the power of star-gods.

Though he's spent equal amounts of time being terrified and being a counterintelligence operative.

So what you're saying is his character is fine, except for having quirks you don't like. And what you're really saying is he should stop liking what you don't like. OK cool. Gonna post some badly drawn weeb shit to make you more upset, too.

I made a gnome bard who had died earlier in my DM's setting, about a hundred years ago. Being a rich and famous gnome, he'd been buried with all sorts of gem-encrusted clothing. He was brought back as a skeleton through some giant magical fuck-up at the wizard's college which resurrected the dead with all their memories, and saw it as a chance to start over, to make himself even gaudier in death than he was in life. Thus began the adventures of Skelton John, the greatest undead bard of all time.

This is Cappuccino Gorgonzola. He's a gangster, if you can't tell by pic related. Also, he's a midget. And he is pretty fabulous. He makes his own suits, made of leather. All black. He's everything fedoras were before the meme.

Honestly, the only thing that bothered me there was "9-foot tall troll". Make Montecore an Xbawx huege human instead and I'd totally allow him at the table.

Though the reason I don't like Shadowrun is that is the default "cyber punk" system, when in actuality it has a fantasy-sci fi cluster fuck setting. So basically I can never actually play a cyber punk game because the only system people actually know about with an resemblence to it is Shadow Run.

That and my regular group only just uses Shadow Run as a pretense for loli rape erp that I really don't want to be a part of.
>>
hm not sure

there was a wizard with a bitching mustache

i also played a bisexual male prostitute who ran a fancy brothel in an old west town although i dont suppose he could really be described as fabulous.
>>
>>44509184

Montecore is clearly a joke character, though, of the sort that totally fits in a pink mohawk game of Shadowrun. It's the contrast of effeminate flamboyant apparel with the uber-masculine meathead role of team heavy that makes him a gag.

I mean, if you hate fun then I guess I can see why fun characters would make you upset.

There's a character I sometimes that I based off a dude I met at a party once.

A he was a catty, flamboyant, gay black trans man who would regularly refer to himself in the third person. Not a bad dancer either Horrible kisser, though.

He was the life of said party and what I remember most about it. So of course I had to use him as a character.

What I actually add to what little I knew of the guy depends on the actual role play.

I've only done this twice, though.

First was a mad scientist in a super robot inspired game. I got to ham things up and go full Juzo Kabuto. Players liked him.

More recently, I've used him as the base for an Oath of the Ancients Paladin. Had a rather abuse filled upbringing and it is only as an adventure that he felt like he was only really starting to live. I tried to portray him as a kind and generous soul, but too much to be a true warrior and careless. That and possibly and alcoholic. He ended up sort like a shounen anime protag and was the sort of the heart of the team. My favorite moments with him were when he'd treat the other party members to drink.

This eventually lead to them having their regular pub crawl the night before we were gonna take on the BBEG guy and the GM was already dropping hints that we weren't gonna make it out a live. With that rum, our characters all said their good byes to each other that night. One of the players cried.

Playing a manly woman is okay because that's someone's fetish.

Playing a girly man is not okay because that's someone else's fetish.

None of the characters posted in this thread are "okay".
I have yet to see a group that would allow any of these freaks in a game.

For me it'd be an agendered Starborn monk who was born with the powers of a phoenix. A "Starborn" for those curious is a creature literally born from stars and is some vaguely human shaped collection of star energy. And how it was born from a phoenix as well as a fuckin star, I'll never know. I literally picked random numbers and decided to roll with what the DM had in store for our me. I figured the DM was approaching That Guy territory when he was a player, he would end up being That GM with his turn in the rotation. As soon as I got my character I knew I wasn't wrong. Still had fun with that fucker, to this day I still say he's controlling the boar population in a random forest because he forgot to stop counting how many he could knock out. Made things as fabulous as I could to make the DM uncomfortable and everyone at the table entertained

>mfw I kept correcting the DM to use they/them pronouns for my char but I didn't give a shit and used all sorts with no consistency and he was getting butthurt from the "tumblrness of my character"
