The Age of Ending is related to the Imperium, it was nothing to do with the Orks. It started with the invasion of behemoth and is currently on pause the moment Abaddon invades Cadia with his 13th Black Crusade. Going further would spell out the doom of the galaxy.

No such thing exists. There was never a "honourable" Khorne of the fluff. 99% of the sources portrayed as a god of absolute and mindless violence and destruction. From his start as fictional character to modern days. Only one source contradicted this which is "40K Epic : renegades". It even contradicted the sources of its own era.

The Emperor's plan was to beat Chaos by conquering the entire galaxy, providing Khorne a power boost but eventually cutting off his supply. In the short term it looks like fighting fire with fire, but in Emperor terms, it's putting out an oil fire with Dynamite.

Slaying a worthy foe in fair combat is a proof of strength and a deed worth retelling. Slaying the weak honestly isn't worth talking about, while Slaying anyone with the weapons of the weak, such as poison or ambush, lowers you to their level.

In terms of the honour thing, I don't think it's that odd.
While Khorne says he doesn't care about where the blood flows, he doesn't want you to do it with Psyker powers, and he tends to prefer you kill stronger opponents.
While this doesn't mean that Khorne himself has a sense of honour, it could mean that his followers see him as having such, and avoid doing traditionally dishonorable things (lauching sneak attacks, killing civilians, etc.) Of course, they'll also probably just kidnap the civilians so they can arm them and make them fight eachother in gladiator pits so it's more 'honorable' later, but anyone who's making a warband can decide much of that for themselves.
