Quick problem, /pfg/. My attributes are:
__ __ __ 13 15 7
...with 12 points remaining. I intend to put my racial +2 into Wisdom and *go up to Middle Aged* (so mentals are 14 18 8 after).

Assuming I have:
a) all martial proficiencies
b) no feats/traits spare
c) lots of class-based damage to add to any form of attack with a weapon, ranged or melee,

What's the best featless weapon style? How should I distribute my 12 points physical stats?
>>
>>44491202
>Not that one picture where Lini's attractive instead of alien-looking.
>>
>>44491235
Two handed weapons is the best featless weapon style. Big spears and sticks are simple weapons and are serviceable enough.

Would have said bows, but not having Precise Shot kills it. Bows are the most investment-efficient combat style but with NO investment, two-handing a greatsword is.

Middle age though? Come on, that's not a warrior.

Could always go 12, 15, 13, that'll get you two more ac and a positive score for both strength and con. If you do intend to be in attack range, though, I'd switch dex and con. This also changes depending on your fighting style, though.

Why 18 pointbuy?
>>
>>44491370
>>
>>44491235
2h melee though power attack's a big buff there you'd be missing with no feats
OR
Madsen/Maxim Autofire (which is resolved against touch-AC within 600ft, incompatible with damage feats, thus leaving you all those feats free) which means you're now dishing out miss-chance-ignoring lines across the battlefield.
>>
>>44491389

It's really hit or miss with Drow, just like any individual.

Sure you'd get some high-quality children from a Noble, but that's so much effort you could've probably courted a good Silver Dragon and had children with them.

Ultimately, I'd say it's up to personal preference. If you're a human you can technically breed with any of them, and once you get to the levels where you can realistically pursue a Noble you can have your pick of the continent.
>>
>>44491410

I'd look into the starter set box: http://www.amazon.com/Dungeons-Dragons-Starter-Set-Roleplaying/dp/0786965592

Then (or alternatively), if you want to get into the game itself, the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and either download the DM basic rules from WotC's site, or buy the Monster Manual (your call; the former is perfectly serviceable, but the latter has much more variety and the art is gorgeous). Amazon has good prices if you're buying.

Might be worth looking into the adventures they've put out (Hoard of the Dragon Queen or something?).

What race makes the best mother?
>>
>>44491619
1d10 or 2d4 with reach is probably worth 2d6 non-reach. I think you can still use armor spikes to threaten within 5 feet as well. The damage loss from a reach weapon is only 1.5 or 2, so easily made up by threatening further.
>>
>>44491642
>What race makes the best mother?

Some races make poor mothers, but there aren't any races that make "the best" mothers as it ultimately comes down to individuals.

That said, I'd argue Aasimar, with their good-natured personalities and ingrained sense of right or wrong, make the best mothers.

Look up the ioun stone Opalescent White Pyramid that grants proficiency to a weapon if there's something that catches your eye on the exotic weapons list. Crafting it yourself is a bitch because you require proficiency to make one though.

People commented on the previous version of the Fusilier that it would honestly be better as an initiator archetype rather than an alchemist variant. With how many chances were needed, they were not really wrong.

Here is an Alpha version of the Initiator-based version. Firearms and Bombs based Harbringer.

Comments are appreciated. As was said: It's an Alpha version so I've no illusions that it's fantastic.

I think you're just basing your views on parenting and applying them to all species. Stop with your species-centric viewpoints.

Earth Breaker is the sweetest weapon, greatsword is shit. When's the last time you fought a monster with DR 5/greatsword?
>>
>>44491949
>>44491933
I have reason to believe this is true due to a number of books' mentioning little details in passing and it seems to be popular opinion as well.
But.
Is there a specific single source that confirms this without question? And, followup question, how does this explain the origin of humanity in Pathfinder's actual Earth, far-off Androffa, or any other places in the material plane where Humans exist?
I'm inclined to believe that there are just Aboleths everywhere, always, and they've been orchestrating all of Humanity, forever, but I can't find good proof for it anywhere.
>>
>>44491986

As far as I understood it (Especially for the archetype I'm working on) that as a Standard Action of it's own, a bomb is not a viable Strike weapon.

It works fine with Boosts and Stances though.
>>
>>44491619

Crit range, crit range uber alles
>>
>>44491986
No, you can't use bombs. RAW I think you can use alchemical stuff, but it's not going to work on the splash, just the primary target.
>>
>>44492050
Well it is regulary mentioned that the Aboleths caused Earthfall to punish their servitor race, Humans, for their hubris.
Though I think it's never explicitly mentioned that they made humanity.
>>
>>44492045
Earthbreaker weighs a million pounds, it's beefcake-only due to carrying capacity issues.
>>
>>44492164
What /is/ it with Pathfinder and the fetish for critical hits? They're near-worthless to focus on unless you can get them to reliable enough ranges that you can prompt them every round or so. Otherwise you're better off focusing on other options for offense.

This isn't like 3.5, where you could get 12-20 crit ranges or go 15-20 and get an extra attack every time you threatened a crit. Critfishing tools in PF /suck/.

Am I missing something here?
>>
>>44492170

Yeah. I got that clarified by the devs when I was working on the archetype as Shotguns came up as a question. If for some reason your attack hits multiple people (Shotguns/Alchemical items) it only affects the primary target with your strike.
>>
>>44492209
Could you even get a 12-20 crit range without Disciple of Dispater in 3.5?
>>
>>44492209

Don't focus on them beyond getting an 18-20 base crit range and improving it to 15-20 with Improved Critical or Keen

It's a normal attack: Autofire is just a weapon quality.

Technically the strike, if it uses weapon qualities normally (like reach, etc) is going to quite simply fire down the line.

The only question is whether it only affects the first thing you hit, or whether, as a quality of the weapon making the strike, no miss-chance, no feats to damage, and everything down the line gets hit by the one attack and thus the strike.

This came up with the shotgun talk. Much like a shotgun blast being a cone the autofire is a line.

You pick one person in the area of the attacks and that guy gets fucked by a strike. Everyone else just gets hit by a normal attack. Boosts would apply to all though.

Anyway, back to working out what to replace Tenebrous Reach with.

The Licked Hand

A common yet infrequently told tale popular among the aristocracy and nobility of the city is that of the Licked Hand. It supposedly happened to a real person, a young adult on the verge of womanhood; but more specifically to someone the storeyteller knows. It goes a little like this.

A young aristocrat from a relatively well off noble family is left home alone with her faithful dog friend and a trusted butler. Her parents and siblings have gone earlier that afternoon to attend a fete.

When night approaches, she gets her trusted butler to lock all the doors and any windows within their manor. This is to ensure security. The window for the basement however won't close. They think nothing of it, as there is nothing in the basement to hide behind or anything else of note.
Her butler locks the basement door for peace of mind, but and closes the window as well; the basement is designed to be only opened from the outside, so creatures who sneak into the basement can't open the door to get into the mansion.

As the night drags on, she feels more and more sleepy and decides to retire for the night. Her butler rests in another room, but within earshot and aid. Her dog, as always, accompanies her to her room and sleeps in its customary place under her bed.

In the dead of night, her parents are staying at her aunt's, she awakens to a wet, dripping sound; must be a leaking tap. The girl, not wanting to check and not wanting to wake her butler reaches under the bed for reassurance. She feels a comforting lick from her dog and goes back to sleep.

This repeats twice. Once more, she awakens to the sound, this time sounding louder and closer. Curious, she gets up to investigate. She slowly walks towards the bathroom, passes her butler's room, the sound progressively get louder and the drips more frequent.

>>
Sanguineum, Ex Sanguinius

The City does not shy away from violence. It permeates and underlies every action and reaction. From extortion and muggings to the cruelty and barbarity of the so-called Justice Courts, violence is as much the existential reality of the City as its soul.

It was not surprisingly then, when the bodies started turning up. It was the children who discovered them, floating in sewers or washed up along the harbor, rotting and drowned in a vile stench. Bloated they were from prolonged immersion within the Salty Drink.

To a place as violent as the City, this was nothing if not unusual; murders happened every day and accidents were always around the corner, poised for the unwary and superstitious alike.

What drew the eye to these unfortunates was not so much the manner of their deaths or condition of their bodies (their state of decay notwithstanding), it was the curious nature of the marks left upon their bruised throats. To all perception and knowledgeable eye, it was almost as if the noose of a rope was left permanently imprinted upon the skin, yet the positioning of the marks suggested the physical act of strangulation.

What then, what act, could leave such massive trauma upon the body?

As ever, darker legends prevail. It is rumored that such acts, such gross violations are the means to express the unsactionable, exsanguination to feed a perverse desire for blood. Detractors have dismissed this claim of course, the act of strangulation is so far removed from the systematic act of exsanguination that any comparison is laughable if not asinine.

These ones present an altogether different take, that the act is the means to express penance. That the method is the means to expel sin from the body. That all targeted were at least criminals, oxygen thieves, with none to miss them or mourn them.
>>
>>44494226
Perhaps there is an even more horrific explanation; that all the suggestions and conjectures so put forward are correct...to a point. In the lunatic ravings of asylum inmates and the irrevocably insane can be found a singularity clarity that cuts through all deceptions.

These ones offer a single theory. The act is the means to draw blood, but it not for the base purpose of expelling sin, it is the means to derive nourishment and the means to perpetuate hate. These ones suggest that all murdered were not criminals, but members of faith. That the killer in question harbors an irrational and psychotic need to murder, having been grievously wronged in the past. That all killed were clerics. The imprint of the noose to is both to signify the irony and ignominy of their deaths.

The darkest myths claim that was taken was not blood, but something all together more precious, the soul.

Why are Inquisitors so much better than everyone? Well he was a senator, right? So you'll need ranks in diplomacy and oratory so you can properly say "DEW IT" in a menacing voice convincingly.

Lightning, force abilities, ability to hide alignment, mind tricks, heavy usage of sending abilities, leadership to train an apprentice, super high diplomacy and bluff, as well as martial prowess and acrobats and high jump scores to do all the super sweet jump moves when you face off against yoda, an old goblin that you might want to pick the trait saying you have as an enemy. Gotta be human and racist. Other people can tell you how to make a light saber. 3rd party stuff gives you a bunch of options for straight up light saber, dunno what 1st party only options you have aside from just fluffing it.

The Arcanist can have exploits and an arcane school (and a bloodline) depending on how you build, and their casting style is a lot more flexible at the cost of advancing somewhat slower than the wizard's.

The wizard is the strongest overall, but the arcanist is BULLSHIT powerful even so.

Most of it comes down to your personal preference, since the biggest difference between the classes due to overlap is that the wizard gains spells slightly faster but isn't as flexible with preparing them.

On the flipside, however, while the wizard is slightly better on most if not all fronts than the Arcanist, the class demonstrates the development team's wizard-boner by being the Sorcerer+++ without even trying. The wizard can win out over the Arcanist mechanically, but generally speaking practically the ONLY thing the sorcerer does better than the Arcanist is have more spell slots.

>>
>>44496542
Play an actual dryad. What part of this do you need help with?
>>
>>44496543
The wizard actually gets to cast more spells per day thanks to his school bonuses. The arcanist has the same number of spells per day as a wizard but having a specialized school only allows him to have one extra memorization slot but not extra spells per day.

The Arcanist's biggest advantage in combat are his mobility options thanks to dimension slide and his ability to add +2 to the save DCs of any spell of his choice at will.

The wizard on the other hand, while not having as high save DC's as an arcanist or nowhere near the mobility (a conjurer will have shift, while a school savant will have dimension slide and shift), still gets advanced spells one level earlier than the arcanist and is able to customize his spells better than the arcanist and that alone makes him better than either sorcerer or arcanist.
>>
>>44496677
I'm not seeing it. Even with the school bonuses an Arcanist and Wizard are going to be casting almost the same number of spells per day, and of course if the Wizard is getting bonuses from his arcane school he's not an Exploiter and therefore is way below the Arcanist because he can't get access to Quick Study. That slightly faster spell level is worth debating over, but I personally don't think it's as powerful as flexible casting.
>>
>>44496341
You have my eternal gratitude.
>>
>>44496677
Actually lets talk about the reason that arcanist is picked over wizard and sorcerer: Quick study.
Its good, I know, Being able to cast any spell you want after the adventuring day has begun seems amazing and it is. But its not as amazing in practice as it is on paper.

First, its a full round action so unless you're a conjurer then you are locked down and unable to move for three rounds (cast a spell, move action to take your spell book out, full round action next round to start quick study, Cast whatever spell it is next round, move action to put your book back into your haversack). Next, is most cases, the spell you want to memorize at the last second is almost always a utility spell so you'll soon find your resource pool running low as you quickstudy>cast>quickstudy>memorize a more useful spell, the fact that an arcanist's only way of increasing his memorization slots is to spend a feat doesnt help either in most cases a human sorcerer with a mnemonic vestment and a ring of spell knowledge can actually already do that while having more spells known at any given period of time and more spells per day.

Sure the sorcerer is blown out of the water, at level 20 when the arcanist has access to arcane supremacy and a +6int/cha circlet but how often does that happen in a campaign anyways?
>>
>>44495583

>>
>>44496786
>>44496543
>and more spells per day.
I was responding to this part when I said that the wizard gets more spells per day.

A specialist wizard gains an extra memorization slot which translates to an extra spell per day, A specialist arcanist gains an extra memorization slot which doesnt help his spell allotment for the day.

Take this scenario for example, A specialist wizard and a school savant arcanist both reach level 3/5/7/whatever odd level. The wizard gets 1 + int bonus + school bonus higher level slot than the arcanist. While the arcanist has to wait one extra level (where the wizard gains more spells per day) to gain 1+int bonus spells per day and 1+school bonus memorization slots. So most given points, the wizard technically has more spells to cast, and higher level ones at his disposal at that.

I personally dont like the idea of sacrificing a school for the exploiter wizard archetype since the last minute need for utility spells can often be handled through scrolls, wands and the simple trick of leaving a few memorization slots open for out of combat mnemonics.
>>
>>44496834
Considering arcanists can prepare way more spells than they can actually cast, it's not too hard to just keep a slot available for swapping around with quick study so you're not using anywhere near as many points as you're suggesting.

Also a full round action isn't that big of a deal, having what's essentially a better version of paragon surge pre-nerf does wonders for utility which is the basis of the tier lists anyway.

The huge problem during that time isnt that you're vulnerable, its that your spellbook has just entered the battlefield. And depending on your GM, will probably be targeted in some way. A lenient GM might let it slide but in most cases an attempt will be made to part you with your most important resource, or worse, have it destroyed.

>>
>>44497215
It's not really an ability you should use on the battlefield though, you pointed that out yourself. You use it when you need some utility spell pulled out, or in a really uncommon case when you absolutely need to get a specific spell out to fight an enemy that your other prepared spells can't deal with for some reason. You're going to be using quick study to prepare and cast things like nondetection, phantom steed, floating disk, pretty much any divination spell, rope trick, and other spells of that nature. Not stuff you would use in a combat, just stuff you wouldn't normally have prepared but you need right then and there.

I'm confused /tg/ so Pathfinder damage reduction is different than 3rd ed.
In 3rd a creature with say +3/soak 15 could bypass other creatures DR of +3 or lower with it's natural attacks. Allowing it to harm other creatures of it's kind.

But pathfinder just has specific elements (Silver, cold iron), alignments, and damage types. +3 weps can bypass silver, and cold iron etc.

But does this mean vampires can't fight each other without a silver knife? They get DR 10/silver but only deal 1d4+4 or does their DR silver let them strike past other silver DR?

Judging by the rough looking hands and face she'd probably be a bit muscular to the point that she's a little bit insecure.

The cockblocking is cute though, since in the case of Feiya it apparently only goes so far (he's a fox, banter is their bread-and-butter) and the wolf seems more like a tough protective figure for Adowyn, rather than something that's gonna bang her.

You can probably get away with some of the improved familiars, like the Lyrakien, but since most familiars are tiny you need to either get creative, use magic to resize you or your familiar.
