Guy who was asking if Ressurection Orbs are only useless in Kill Team or useless in general: Useless in general.

Only real niche use is for Death Stars and giving them one phase of enhanced durability. Otherwise it just costs too much.

Excuse my lack of starwars knowledge... but what's the "starkiller base"
>>

TFA is nearly a point for point remake of the original Star Wars film, except luke is a girl, C3P0 is a black guy, Vader is an angsty teenager nobody respects and the Death Star is an entire planet.

I'm a new tyranids player. How are the Tyrant Guards?
I'd like to play a wingless Hive Tyrant, since my meta is rather casual and almost nobody plays the most powerful armies as their first choice, and was thinking of giving him a retinue of guard, but I'm not sure if they would end up being useful.
I really like the model, so I eventually think of buying them anyway, however I'd like to know their strength to see if making them a priority or if I can "wait" for them
>>
>>44461188
Like 9/10 asshole, if it's you're first visit. If you go there, check stuff out, and see a load of high-power lists then yeah, go for it. But turning up with something generally considered in the top tier of the power rankings without knowing what your local meta is like is pretty dickish.

Are these the Kill team rules?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/hdszj0pc7v6l18j/Kill%20Team%20Rules%20v3.1.pdf?dl=0

My friends and I are getting into 40k and I want to build a Dark Angel force. We are starting at 250 points.

Can I bring a Darkshroud or any vehicle outside bikes?

I can't find the rules.

I am thinking I will get like three bikes and a Darkshroud. The relic like it would be pretty effective. Then when I move up I can just add landspeeders as the Support formation seems popular..
>>
>>44461319
It's because machine intelligence is non-human intelligence. Anything non-human is unclean to Imperials. Ironic, considering the "machine spirit" itself is an AI created by ancient man. (Head canon. I have no source.)
>>
How big is an Ark Mechanicus? The closer to a concrete estimate the better.
>>
>>44461393

To the Imperials, sure, but let's not even pretend the Mechanicus follow the same religion.
>>
>>44461381
Some friends and I play 250 point kill teams semi-regularly.

My advice? Screw the rules. Here's what you do:

Any model can move anywhere. No concept of squads, except for in the construction of an army. Firing and assault is conducted on the basis of "whoever's in range is subject to getting hit."

There. Kill Teams. Done.

Also still not sure why Fire Warriors don't have specialists.
>>
>>44461910
He actually, by the rules of the two books, has become better. The fact is that the earlier version had received a FAQ that made the Redmaw a MC, and we can't really know now if this version is actually legit or if they made the same mistake again (there were Eldar to buff, you know; you can make error when you're concentrated on the IMPORTANT THINGS)
>>

Isn't the Tau Armoured Interdiction Cadre good enough?

As far as Firewarriors come, you can now give them missile turrets.
>>
>>44461942
The Redmaw gains rending as a special rule and MCs are already hitting at AP2, so it's unlikely they made a mistake.
>>
>>44461942
Given the bit about losing the AP2 axe but gaining rend it seems fair to think they didn't intend for him to get AP2 via Smash as an MC (as I assume that's the main thing here). Doesn't feel like an oversight to me.

>FROO DA KOSMOS

>The Orks navigate both real space and the Warp with an ease born of fearlessness. In the case of the former, they simply hijack a space hulk, dock their vessels to it and aim it off in the direction they wish to travel. Warp travel is even less complex: open a rift in reality with the help of a Weirdboy and fly into the Immaterium. Any problems of getting lost (or attacked by Daemons) are considered an added source of excitement for all.

Orks don't have Warp drives? How can they even Waaagh! in sectors in a concentrated force? They should be scattered across the place the moment their fleets enter the warp.

Ion-strike is hilarious for overwatch, and can cause some fun v. meq. Generally a Hammerhead will be less useful than a broadside or a riptide in there respective rolls. most efficient set-up I've seen is two hammerheads with sub-munitions, and marker support, can tear through armor starting on turn one, and switch to killing infantry immediately afterwards, great for IG, Ork, and Crons. If you move, you have to snap shoot heavy weapons. Rapid fire and assault fire normally.

If you shoot heavy weapons or rapid fire weapons, or any type that's not assault/pistol, you cant Assault afterwards (unless you're relentless like a bike or have another special rule overriding this)

If you have various types of ammo for a weapon, with i.e a Heavy mode and an Assault mode, you simply treat the weapon as a gun of the relevant type, so you would usually not use the Heavy setting after moving, etc.

If you can get them there, sure. The combat may end up a deadlock (they don't have the attacks to wipe you out, you don't have the AP or ability to force loadsa save rolls to wipe them out) but while they're in combat, the big guns aren't firing.

Lazy analysis. Did you even Hidden Fortress? You get an F.

Threepio is the low character through which the story is observed. He is there for POV purposes and to juxtapose the heroism of those around him. Finn is a hero in his own right, so the comparison falls apart.

Go for the Dakka Knight: S10 AP2 plus stomp is plenty in assault in nearly any situation, and you'll certainly notice the extra gun.

Top weapons are kinda dissapointing: By all logic a top mounted gun should be far more serious than a less firmly mounted arm one. Was really hoping the Knight Warden would be, y'know, a Knight Warden.
>>
>>44463530

>>
>>44463476
Are they really that bad this edition? I play frequently against my brothers who run Necrons and Blood Angels, and I've got an equal win/lose ratio.
>>
>>44462836
Wasn't there a regiment creation thread that ended up with something like this a while back?
>>
>>44463626

Work decently as deep striking melta/plasma. Kinda over costed, but a couple squads and a command squad to throw the (very good) orders around can work.
>>
>>44463630
What do you run against the Necrons to have that good of a W/L?
>>
>>44463626
Imperial guard but no tanks, no artillery, no psykers, no heavy weapons teams, no cheap soldiers and no vendettas.

Or rather, "Stormtrooprs with taurox and valkyrie transports " the codex
>>
>>44463671
My army is: Flyrant, 2 carnifex, 12 hormagaunt, 9 genestealer + Broodlord, 3 zoanthrope.

Necrons is: 5 immortals, 20 warriors, 1 command barge + overlord, 1 doomsday ark, 1 ghost scythe, 4 canoptek wraiths

Blood Angels is: Assault termies, tac squad, death company jump squad, librarian dreadnought, stormraven,

My biggest weakness thus far has been an inability to reliably deal with the wraiths; I generally have to park my flyrant over them and gun them down from above. I can usually roll over the Blood Angels though. My hormagaunts have two terminator kills.
>>
>>44463597
less of the shitty photos
>>
>>44463731
I've had a unit of 30 termagants slowly take out a Necron on a Chariot. It's really satisfying watching the baby gribblies take out big tough guys!
>>
>>44463731
>dealing with wraiths

feed them units and kill other stuff. you could try baiting them with a unit then moving in assault terms with hammer/shield.

or the wraiths could avoid that and just aim for your jugular
>>
>>44463811

Eh, the Command Barge was never a good unit. It was horribly overrated in the previous codex despite every netlist spamming it*, and it's been nerfed down now.

*Seriously, you had to pay superheavy prices for it, and it only got nigh-immunity to the shooting phase out of it. Low damage output for cost, fell apart in assault against many things and massively less useful the instant your opponent realised that.
>>
>>44463873
Well darn, that makes me feel kind of sad then. I can't say I've ever really looked at Necron units in depth before, but I thought it was scary enough.
>>
>>44463911
Don't worry
I have necron players who swear by it and would tell anyone that said it was shit to "git gud scrub"
>>
>>44463873
I used the previous codex's rendition of annihilation barge in a few GT's, and it performed very well. Allowed me to place top 5 reliably.

Does anyone know where to find the pdf of teh re-release of Mymaera? I want to see if these silly new wraithknight variants are experimental. Hellstorm shred monofilament templates my ass.
>>
>>44464037

I guess the experimental label would have been in the above pictures.....oh well.

What is the point of the shunt generator? Why not just....move 12 inches with a jump?
>>
Well, with the Res Orb being effectively given to Crypteks, the old role of Necron Overlords is lowered, and Lords are utterly pointless.

Instead of a unit-buffing character with solid combat ability, you get a non-unit buffing character with slightly improved combat ability (reanimate each wound now).

Orikan fills the old role very well though, having improved reanimation, improved saves and when his powers kick in becoming a pseudo-Monstrous Creature. (He's not entirely awful before either, rerolling to hit with AP2 is handy).

Odds are if it weren't for the Decurion making Overlords mandatory, nobody would play them anymore in favour of Orikan as the auto-take HQ, a regular Cryptek or Szeras the obvious secondary choice.

>>
>>44464077
Hoping for lucky scatter to get a little farther? No, I don't see it getting used for its movement, just for bouncing into Reserves for a quick redeploy.
>>
>>44464037

Annihilation Barge? Well duh, that thing was horrendously good.

They did overnerf it though. And Tesla in general- If they'd made it so Tesla can't fire if you Jink that'd have solved the real issue.

There's no point in the slightest to take a Tesla weapon on infantry now: Being able to use it for overwatch and limited anti-air was literally the only reason not to take Gauss.
>>
>>44464099

>>
>>44461337
I believe they would fall under automaton rather than true abominable intelligences, just look at the mechanicus robots.
>>
>>44464330

No, now he only goes up and doesn't come back down.

I find that he usually morphs turn 3, which is also about the earliest he should be seeing assault as a footslogger.

I've also had him single-handedly beat down an Imperial Knight. Statistical overperformance? My, yes, but that there's even a chance of that happening says a lot about his beatstick capability.
