I got a nice new folding wooden chess set for Christmas. My flatmates and I have been playing a fair bit lately, but it has been on a dinky little plastic set with a slightly garish green and yellow board. This new one is great, the pieces have weight to them, they're all felted across the bottom and the board is large enough to keep an eye on the whole thing. We're thinking of streaming live chess on twitch a couple of times a week in the new year.

You realise chess is going to be a solved game soon right? There is no intelligence required to play chess, it's like a Rubik's cube in that you're not supposed to logically calculate your moves, you memorise board states and fixed plays, then try to apply those.
Generally speaking if a computer can play it well it doesn't require intelligence.
