Yeah after some consideration it might work better as a Phase II, since it doesn't look nearly big enough to both function autonomously and be wearable as armour.
Still, a single Phase II in itself is enough of a danger for a group of low-to-mid range EotE PCs to shit their collective pants on sight.

In all honesty, the Arkanians as a whole are great-mad scientists who view themselves above the law and are so smart the rest of the galaxy generally lets them get away with it: Space worms? Alternatively, sidearms are a lot more important for heavy weapons crew than regular infantry, the standard baster carbine is small enough to use as a pistol anyway so showing off his neat sidearm is kinda nice.

I really like the Old Republic era trooper armor, it has enough design sensibilities to feel like it's all from one nation but diverse enough to really fit the Republic's 'stitched together from a hundred sources' overall feel, with various different helmets, chest pieces and entire armor setups.
Compared to the Empire which seemed to have much more standardized troopers across their entire military, at least based on what I saw.

It just amuses me that in the Old Republic, we see the Stormtroopers, who are one of the most iconic faces of evil, take their design influence from Republic troopers rather than Sith Empire forces. Really if you look at Palpatine's brief stint of evil compared to all of galactic history, guys in white bodyshell armor with opaque black visors have been the good guys more often than bad.
