Tyranids win the war over the territory.
It means that the leviathan builds up and then reach the imperium with an actual wave of bioships rather than something reminiscent of a tendril.
The victory of the nids also means that the orks will have time to fill the voids in the chain of command and replenish a huge Waaagh with tyrannic war veter-uns and the promise of round 2 against the biggest foe they've had to fight again for the reinforcements that were coming already.
It basically means that the octarius war restarts anew with bigger starting armies and the brawls unroll on an erratic path all over the Imperium rather than staying isolated in a pair of systems.
This was frogmouth's forecasting weather prophecies, hoping you have an umbrella for the incoming hurricane of bugs and shrooms.

That's a path to disaster with the first fuck up.
They create a new species in that war, might be just a single spore to test the prototype, and it all goes horribly wrong.
Reproduces like an ork, strong and resilient like ork, know tech instinctively like ork. Has gods like ork.
Agility and speed of a Tyranid. Intelligence of a gene-stealer pure strain.
Stubbornness of Ork and can ignore the Hive-mind in favour of the whispers of heathen gods and the quest for orky fun.
What will come out of this war when Beast and Barbarian look upon each other and become too much like the other?
The Tyrannids will end the galaxy and then the hybrids will come after them as well.

We have reports of tyranid population doubling every 2.5 days by day 48 from the first infiltrating organism and this is before the main hive fleet of generally 1.5 billions of crafts arrive.
We do also know that orks' spores take months to mature.
Really, the great canon quality of ork's infestation is their resiliency, not rapidity, once you negate any resource the spores could use to grow by eating it first, orks go down.

One spore per seedling cell in nutrient paste.
That and the Ad-mechs mass-produced crop growth accelerant.
How many cells you got in that system? Thats how many orks you get per batch. How fast does each batch grow? How mad is your Mad Dok is how fast they can be chemically persuaded to grow.
All it is going to take is one Mad Dok with one bright idea then BAM! no more galaxy.

Biel-Tan and Iyanden burned a buttload of Ork and Imperial worlds in an act of Kryptman-esque biomass denial, then isolated and destroyed a "major" part of the hive fleet. Some took this to mean that the entire tendril attacking Octarius had been destroyed and the war was now over, ended by a single timeline entry in the Eldar codex.

>When Waaagh! Bork rampaged out of the Ghoul Stars and into the Eastern Fringe, the Wyrm-Killa tribe came with them. Festooned with alien trophies and covered in scars, this Snakebite tribe earned their name killing Tyranids. Runtherds tell tales of how the tribe were hunting through the jungles of some remote world when they came across a great fleshy spore encased in glistening amber. Dragging it back to the Ork fleet, they cracked it open and hundreds of clawed, serpentine Tyranids spilled out. Before long the Ork kroozer was infested, and most of the other tribes on board were killed, only the Snakebites surviving in the weird Tyranid jungle their ship had become. By the time the infested kroozer drifted into a system, the Snakebites had finally killed most of the Tyranids on board, having learnt the best ways to crack them open and smash them up. Covered in Tyranid trophies and using alien claws and talons as weapons, they joined up with other Orks, calling themselves the Wyrm-Killa tribe. Having had so much fun hunting the Tyranids in space, the tribe had kept some alive and released them on the first world they came to. While the rest of the Orks bashed the human inhabitants the Wyrm-Killas made sure the Tyranids had time to multiply, so they would make good hunting. By the time the Orks had torn apart the humans they found themselves overrun by Tyranids, and gleefully turned their attentions to this new foe. Since then the Wyrm-Killas have spread Tyranids to dozens of worlds so they can have a good fight wherever they go.
