To to extremely different biology, the answer would have to be magic I think... unless humans and kobolds are somehow related.
>>
I don't see the point of half-races unless the other half is overpowered for PCs.
Just man up and play a kobold. You might still need some amount of homebrew, but at least it already exists in the default setting.

No, I wasn't planing on playing it. I just thought it was intrusting that someone put this on the D&D wiki.

Also I do want play a kobold eventually, but everybody seems to hate you if you do. This would probably be seen as even more snowflaky

Kobolds are supposedly related to dragons. Dragons can apparently breed with pretty much any thing in DnD settings. So I don't see the issue if kobolds are related to dragons.

What kind of shitty group are you playing with? Fully half my characters have been kobolds. One of the non-kobolds actually died and ended up reincarnated as a kobold.

No groups where I am... might try using the internetz but don't know how... just browse /tg/ and /k/ and weep at the things I can never have/do.

To find an internet game, all you do is find a bunch of people who are interested in trying to play D&D, then find some means to talk to each other in a big group, like a chat client program. My group uses OpenRPG, which is shit, but allows for posting of pictures or maps and saving logs of the session. You can also use Skype.
It really is as simple as "find some people who want to play". The hard part is finding them.
If you're not picky you can always hang out on game-related forums or even /tg/ and ask if anyone is running any games they're willing to let you join. If you do that, try to be on good behavior until you get a feel for what's acceptable in the group.
That's basically it.

How did reincarnation work in that setting?

Standard D&D 3.5, druid spell. I could've rolled for it, but I convinced my DM to let me just be a kobold for the sake of hilarity.
I was originally playing a warlock who wore a robe with a deep v-neck to show off her "assets". The hilarity was because post-reincarnation she no longer had any.
Honestly could've gone lizardman or Thrikreen and gotten the same effect, but I like kobolds, and they're easier to convince your DM to let you get away with for the sake of something stupid.
>>
Are we not gonna talk about how stupid this is? Half kobold, really?
Biologically....how? Kobolds are literally just the hobbit version of Lizardfolk.
Humans, elf and Orcs I get. They're all hairless monkeys in the grand scheme of things, but reproducing out of your own animal kingdom has always urked me.

Played a game where half-kobolds cropped up because of PC actions. I don't think the DM knew about actual rules for them, but in our game he ruled that because kobolds are dragon blooded/descended/whatever, they have some capacity for their breeding potential. Definitely at least with common, humanoid races.

It's really no dumber than any of the other things I've seen people try to justify being a half of.

Well, I mean Orcs are pigs, but I get it, difference between two classes of animals (mammal vs reptile) would make it unlikely, but usually fantasy can wave these limitations off.
