What do psionicists wear, /tg/?

Wizards wear pointy hats and robes.
Clerics wear priestly vestments and holy symbols.
Thieves wear hooded cloaks and black leather
Fighters wear armor.

What what do the weird mind-magic guys wear?

The same director and studio made FLCL like two years prior to this. That's why the brown girl looks like kitsurubami. It has a lot of parallels with Gainax's other works.

Take Dix-Neuf (#19), its old war wounds parallel the Eva-01's major injuries. Spike through the right eye going out the back of the head from Sachiel, lost left arm complete with grafted replacement from Zeruel. While not an injury Dix-Neuf replaces his Degeneracy Generator by tearing it out of another and absorbing it into himself, like an S2 Organ.

Basically FLCL was Gainax giving the animation Studio and deputy director for End of Evangelion a project of their own as a sort of "cleanser" after working on End of Evangelion, the same crew then did Diebuster when the 20th anniversary of Gunbuster came around.

>>44414182

Not entirely, Dix-Neuf eyepatch is based on Coach from the first Gunbuster as is the ring of sticky out bits around the left arm (which is based on the brace on Coach's walking stick), the degeneracy generator is another reference to the end of gunbuster when the inverse happens and Gunbuster Machine 2 tears its chest open and shoves a degeneracy generator into Gunbuster Machine 3 so it can finish its mission (in eva we never see Eva-1 insert the S2 organ into itself, instead we get a distant shot of what is implied to be Eva-1 physically devouring an angel to consume its S2 Organ). And while the Jaw line is likely a reference to Eva-1's, it's coloration is a reference to the admiral/captain of the excellion from gunbuster 1.

...I also suspect the giant rocket-booster trenchcoat it wears is also a reference to Jotaro's coat from Jojo part 3, seeing as Part 3 heavily "borrowed" the character design of old Joseph and Polnareff from Gunbuster, it's likely also why it also transforms into a giant fencing sabre and has a baseball theme for its other weaponry.

Gasmasks! Remember, while Dark Sun is now known as the "dying earth" setting, it was originally the "psionics" setting for D&D.

To be fair that anime does have fairly lengthy "rips off her sticker and goes Topless" sequences in the first episode, and that wasn't one of them.

Coach used the crutch on his right side, not left.

Also the way Nono is carried off by getting her clothes caught on the space monster parallels when the same thing happened to Naota in FLCL.

Psions wearing living clothing could be neat. Instead if magical enchanted clothing and armor augmenting their powers, it's living minds working in tandem with their master.
A fully kitted out psion in livingleather is in effect a one man cabal.

You can kind of do that with Shaper psions in 3.5.
There's actually a feat in Complete Psionics that lets you gain the special abilities of an Astral Construct whenever you would would create one using the Astral Construct power.

I've also seen some people argue that you should be able to create a hollow Astral Construct around yourself and ride around in it like a mech.

>A synthesist summons the essence of a powerful outsider to meld with his own being. The synthesist wears the eidolon like translucent, living armor. The eidolon mimics all of the synthesist’s movements, and the synthesist perceives through the eidolon’s senses and speaks through its voice, as the two are now one creature.

Yes. It is basically Power Rangers and that was how i roleplayed the one time i made it. I talked the GM into killing me in my sleep cause hoo boy was it overpowered. Almost ruined the game, but it was fun to summon the eidolon with the "IT'S MORPHIN TIME"

They converted 3.5 Psionics to Pathfinder with minimal fuckery(only need to ban Astral Seed and Psychic Reformation) and remade the Tome of Battle as Path of War. They also ported over Incarnum and are currently play testing. Their shit is so good because they actual listen to feed back and keep close to the community. They also made some new Psionic classes(not as good as the ones ported, but some definitely got an upgrade i.e Soulknives).

Even if it's not hollow, you can always just have it be an open-cockpit mech. Whichever way you go with it, you should be able to do mounted combat on an Astral Construct, at any rate.

I've always wanted to try doing a Gurren Lagann spiral energy user as a wilder with mounted combat feats, Astral Construct, and various offensive buff powers. The wilder is just such a perfect thematic fit for spiral energy.

Normal clothing appropriate for a middle-class person in the city / nation they live in. In the last D&D game I played, psychic powers and magic didn't mingle. You couldn't detect or dispel psionics with magic and vice versa. Psionics was also very rare, literally one in a million people had the mental fortitude and inherent talent to become a fully-fledged manifester.

My character didn't carry weapons or armour, had no magic items, and only had a small satchel filled with mundane herbs and poultices. We had a lot of urban combat and he would always pretend to be just another innocent bystander while helping the party secretly with buff powers and remote healing. 90% of encounters he wasn't targeted as an enemy, and the other 10% were during dungeon crawls where the 'gimmick' didn't work.

It worked out really well. The rest of the party was Tier 3-4, so I de-powered my character by never getting magic items or serious 'upgrades', instead giving them my share of the gear and keeping some money for my retirement fund. The Barbarian and Gunslinger got to be badasses, taking centre stage during combat and raking in the fame and glory. The Alchemist went full Artificer and had a million toys to play with, which made him really happy. My character was satisfied with doing good behind the scenes and not getting stabbed, plus he retired with half a million gold in the bank and his own private island to set up a school for gifted youngsters.
