She feels like someone who needs Charisma over everything given she's a huge celebrity, and her strength seems to be rather low with how clumsily she carries the transistor around.
>>
>>44403669
That's Red, from the game Transistor. It is a good game.

She's a singer that lost her voice when 4 conspirators tried to assassinate her with a weird sword that her friend's mind is now trapped inside. Now she has to go get revenge and/or search for a way to get him outta there.

>>44403693
To be fair, the Transistor is huge. But yes, I wouldn't expect a singer and a celebrity to be very fit.

Because they came to love each other over the course of the game.
>>
>>44407391
I severely doubt the credits were some metaphorical construction of their growing chemistry as opposed to just memories.

Throughout the game they were talking as though they already knew each other, and their relationship didn't develop due to the protagonist being, well, silent for the most part.
>>
>>44407560
I think you should play the game again, you've really got the wrong idea.

Nope, they were lovers before that. Sybil's entire arc is her crushing on Red, getting jealous of Nobody, then setting him up to be killed instead of Red so that she'd have her all to herself.
>>
>>44407614
Where is the proofs friend? That doesn't gel with a lot of Nobody's dialogue. He acts more like a distant admirer than anything else, saying stuff like this isn't the way he imagined seeing her apartment.

>her friend's mind

Wasn't he like her actual lover though? Or was that just at the end? The ending credits showed images of them kind of lovingly hanging out, so I assumed they were supposed to depict old times.

I played like 3/4ths of the game on the span on two days and only finished it like a year later, so all the endgame lore-dropping got me greatly confused in general.
>>
>>44407995
Well, nevermind this post, I actually read the rest of the thread.
>>
>>44407614
>>44407995
They weren't lovers but it's heavily implied they're friends and romantically inclined. He was an admirer. They definitely had chemistry, and Sibyl was definitely jealous of him., or at the very least she was obsessed with Red and resents Nobody's closeness to her. Sibyl didn't set Nobody up to die instead of Red though, Nobody just an-heroed, which they didn't expect - because he was nobody. The Conspirators considered the average citizen irrelivant. One of the reasons they wanted Red was her ability to influence them, as well as her talent. She was one of the 'chosen' people they were going to preserve in the Transistor when they remade the city. Most others would be reformatted. The Camarata were elitists.
>>
>>44407995
I took that stuff to be their life inside the Transistor, not the past. The first image of them in the wheat field was intended to be "going to the country" the running metaphor for dying/being deleted.
>>
>>44402010
No. She dies. Deal with it.
>>
>>44408040
PS: The ending of Transistor is actually happy, sort of. It ends with everyone - red included - stored inside of the Transistor. So every human being in the city is still alive, they've just transferred to a digital existence. Civilization goes on in a Singularity state.
>>
>>44402010
Don't worry anon, she doesn't REALLY die. Explaining would be even more spoilers though.

I never really grasped what the Camerata were doing or how they were going about it. I guess they had a problem with the city being changed by popular vote?

The idea has been around since the days of Greek philosophers, if not earlier. Except back then they called it "dream" rather than "simulation".

>>44408157
It wasn't the voting, it's the fact that since everything was so impermanent, nothing that was accomplished had any meaning since it could just as easily be torn down tomorrow. I'm still not 100% sure how the Process was supposed to change that, but the Camarata were dealing with powers they knew nothing about in the first place.

They wanted the souls trapped in the Transistor to become some sort of AI or government together, one that wouldn't change it's mind based on trends but would still make what was best for the people. The reason they collected exceptional individuals of all sorts was to have the resulting AI/government represent all sorts of people and know what they need.
>>
>>44409394
Well that makes a lot more sense. Still, they really screwed the pooch in the execution.

I'm also not sure the ending was all that happy, as I got the feeling Blue and Red were the only ones together, and everyone else was in a sort of stasis (look at the pods during Royce's fight.)

The ending was deliberately ambiguous in that regard, no use speculating, though I think Royce and Red fought in some sort of admin access level of the Transistor world, where you could see the other trapped minds from "outside" to check up on them or something. Their way of entering was different from any other at that point, but Red re-entered it the normal way. Remember, Nobody wasn't there for the fight either.

It's really bittersweet.
>>
>>44409429
I'm pretty sure they weren't in stasis, since Nobody old speak with them and relay their words to Red.
>>
>>44409238
The Process is the system/program/code/whatever that makes the changes in the city. I think.

I like to think they're the Install Wizard of the Transistor.
>>
>>44403566
I'm kind of iffy on the idea for the Transistor. While it's cool for you to be able to gain evocations by taking people's traces I feel like it allows the Transistor to be way more powerful than any other artifact weapon could be.

I feel like there should be a limit on how many evocations the transistor can have. It might also be cool if you unlocked evocations for free if you get a trace from a character you have a major intimacy for. This would work similarly to the way evocations for Black Wind function.
>>
>>44409639
You could instead introduce a number of slots and make the actual evocations swapable like how the game is.

Also, a part of me wants to give it sub-par stats for a Grand Daiklave since the actual Transistor is never ever used like a sword in the game
>>
>>44409639
Nah, infinite evocations are a official thing for Artifact 5s if it fits their theme. The character obviously don't get the evocations for free, they still have to gain access to them just like Red did with the user levels.
>>
>>44409706
Make it have an Improvised tag.
>>
>>44409714
I didn't know that about Artifact 5s. I guess if the charms have to be bought and require special activation rules then that offsets being able to always get new ones.

The idea of swappable charms like >>44409706
said sounds interesting. It matches with the source material and it prevents things from getting too bogged down.
>>
>>44409639
How about infinite total envocations, but only a certain number are available at a single time. Slots can only be changed via a half-hour-long ritual which involves un/reattuning to the artifact.
>>
>>44409790
Or you buy slots as evocations, with XP and training time.
>>
>>44409790
>>44409836
And swap them out only in manses, demesnes and other places of occult power.
>>
>>44408175
the one with the villagers and the policeman: what film?
>>
>>44408040
yeah, it's pretty well spelled out in her bio that Sibyl had Breach() taken out on purpose.
>>
>>44409852
Eh, that might be pushing it. It's a 5-dot artifact, the drawback doesn't need to be that intrusive.

It's a good way to balance it in a video game since save points are everywhere, but at the table you're either going to make doing things away from those locations overly annoying or you'll end up having too many places of power scattered around for the sake of convenience.

>>44410543
Not really a drawback. You get potentially infinite variety with how traces are created, eventually infinite slots with buying slots with XP, and the ability to swap your "loadout" if you are willing to put some effort in.

Places of power are not neccessarily places of a LOT of power, things like the local spirit shrine are totally fine.
>>
>>44410679
I didn't see they bit about buying slots. You're right, if you can purchase slots than the reassignment restriction is a temporary annoyance at most. It does, however, potentially open up the original problem of the sword becoming too much of a batman utilitybelt.

I'd rather have it with capped slots from the beginning and more convenient rebinds. A smaller selection of abilities is easier to balance with each other, since there's less potential for broken combos.

What about a limited number of slots for active envocations, but the ability to buy a number of "modifier" slots for a given envocation with XP, which would let you slot in other traces to change its effects. That would allow a measure of specialization in your favorite envokes and provide for a degree of conventional advancement, while retaining the versatility of the system.

>>
>>44408042
>>44414828
especially because the fact that the death and wheat field scenes are colored, while the ones in between are not (this indicates to me that the colored scenes are current, while the faded ones are memories). If the middle scenes were part of their life in the transistor, why would they be shown before their first post-death meeting (punctuated by the "Hi" they share) and not be colored in the same way?
