Looks like a mostly human digestive track. Omnivore is my guess.
Besides, aren't they goat people?
Goat can digest near anything.
Why couldn't they eat meat?

They can, but it's not good for them - before every 12 hour period after a Faun PC eats meat the GM should make two secret rolls to detirmine when (1d12 roll) the Faun that eats meat is going to get hit by ferocious meat shits and how long (2d30) the meat shits will last in minutes.

After the faun has spent 120 minutes shitting violently the meat is assumed to have evacuated the Faun's system and the faun will no longer suffer the tyrrany of the GM's meat shit rolls.
>>
>>44390846

Sometimes sheep people rather than goats, and Sheep'll "eat" anything like Goats will but lack the goat's adamantium digestive tract to handle anything and so are fuckers for dying by eating barbed wires and stuff that Goat will happily survive consuming.
>>
>>44390837
And you should be able to make your own decisions if you want to create an original setting. I'm assuming OP is, since he isn't asking about a specific setting.
The digestive system of fauns is a rather arbitrary choice, and if you're playing an RPG -a game that revolves around making choices- you should be able to make that decision yourself in a matter of minutes, don't you think?

If there was actually much to debate about this subject, the 'depends on the setting'-answer wouldn't be so prevalent in this thread.
>>
>>44390846
Misconception. Goats are curious creatures with developed sense organs in their mouths, so their first reaction to most anything new is to try to chew it. Just because they often end up eating garbage doesn't mean it's good for them. Goats are, in fact, far from omnivorous and there's an enormous variety of food which is safe to humans but which would make a goat very ill.
>>
>tfw fetish for satyr girls
>>
>>44389053
As I'm fairly sure goats, sheep, and deer CAN all eat meat, not to mention humans, why wouldn't fauns be able to? It might not comprise the bulk of their diet, but I wouldn't expect them to get sick from it, except for the kinds of meat that a human would get sick from (predator liver, etc)
>>
>>44391333
I also have a thing for faun girls. I blame Fracture Hills in Spyro 2.

nope, they just like licking stuff
>>44391021
is right, they are like little kids mouthing everything. A total oral fixation, if you want to toss Freudian Psych on your setting's Fauns

m8...
>>
>>44391532
Probably a sick or mentally ill animal. That's usually the reason when herbivores start eating other animals.
>>
>>44389193
I'm 90% sure that's a demon.
>Detect evil
>ready action to smite.
>>
>>44391556
Aaaand instead of asking professional biologists or at least googling why this happens you decided to rely on your own opinion.

M8, some herbivores are known carrion eaters. Some may even attack small animals.
>>
>>44391556
It's a quick and convenient protein fix.

It's also worth noting that there were carnivorous deer relatives in the past which were hunted to extinction.
>>
>>44391603
Guess I should've asked one of those many professional biologists on 4chan.
>>
>>44391603
No need to be a faggot about it anon. There are plenty of documented cases of herbivorous animals turning to carnivorous or even cannibalistic behavior due to sickness, so it's a perfectly reasonable assumption even if it was wrong in this case.
>>
>>44391556
Anon, don't hide behind the fact that you are anon. I want you to come out, and just go "hey I guess I was wrong, I'll do my research in the future instead of manufacturing what sounds right." That might sound a little harsh, but its part of growing up and becoming a more complete person. I believe in you.
>>
>>44391617
>Carnivorous
>Deer

Sounds horrifying.
>>
>>44391741
There's a difference between "will eat meat when desperate" and "carnivorous". A deer could not live off meat anymore than a dog could live off grass. Just because a mouthful wouldn't kill it doesn't make it something it should put there.
>>
>>44393758
How is a deer, in the middle of summer with tons of plants around it, eating a small animal "desperate"? Or how is it harmful to them?
>>
>>44394813
Depends on the setting.
>>
>>44394813
because sometimes the minerals in those plants are different from eachother. not all grass is created equal. and if they can get away with digesting a bit of protien they could be just strong enough to buck the shit out of something or not keel over after giving birth. survival is brutal guy.
>>
Someone post sexy fauns
>>
>>44394892
How does the deer know it's not getting the nutrients it needs? Why doesn't it just go and eat the plants it needs, rather than resort to murder?
>>
>>44391662
>There are plenty of documented cases of herbivorous animals turning to carnivorous or even cannibalistic behavior due to sickness

Provide one.
>>
>>44397006
It doesn't. Plants in general don't provide enough protein that all animals need. Herbivores for the most part do this all the time. They don't constantly look out for carrion to feed on but if they come across a freshly dead thing, they'll take a chomp out of it and move on. It's just a supplement they take when it's readily available.
>>
>>44397006
Even deer know meat is tasty, they don't give a shit about murder
>>
>>44397030
Google one.

You know how pregnant humans crave pickles? It's because their bodies are telling them to consume more salt. Same deal here.

But that doesn't sound like desperation.

>>44398894
You got some statistics that on pregnant women craving for pickles? Does pregnancy zap your body of salts? What did pregnant women crave for before pickles were invented? How does the deer know meat has what it needs?
>>
>>44397077
A lot of species'' that are commonly seen as Herbivores are Opportunistic Carnivores
>>
>>44389053
Yes, I'd assume so
>>
>>44403322
>But that doesn't sound like desperation.
It's not, how hard is it for you to understand that deer and many other hooved animals are opportunistic carnivores? They won't hunt but they won't turn down meat eather
>>
>>44391333
Satyrs only come in male varieties anon...
>>
>>44389053

Most land animals are opportunistic carnivores, meaning if there's a slow-moving bird walking along nearby then yeah a cow will try to eat it.

So, they're probably capable of digesting it, even if it's not a primary food source.
>>
>>44389053
Goats will eat anything so probably

>>
>>44406492
Anon, you got me confused with the anon who claims meat eating deer are mentally deficient and at best desperate. I'm merely pretending to emphasize the stupidity of the argument. I'm fully aware that many herbivores mainly eat plants because they suck at hunting and won't mind munching on some small critter or carrion that comes their way.
