How threatening are Necrons tanks compared to their infantry, swarms, and beasts?
>>

Relatable since they're humans and have lives just like we do. But they're also kinda worthless.

Speaking of recasts, does anyone have Heyyou's details?

Smart Missile System or Missile Pod Turret for a squad of 12 Firewarriors + Fireblade?
>>
>>44388445

You do it wrong, dude.
>>
>>44388445
SMS is just a superior FW

MP adds slight anti-tank

What do you need more in your list?
>>
In Codex: Orks the mekaniaks special rule states that the meks you buy have to be attached to an infantry unit. A big mek is a one model infantry unit. Does making a mek mob around a BM sound like RaI?

>>
Does anyone have the updated imperial armour: Doom of Mymeara?
>>
You know what would be cool? Bloodbowl, but for 40k.
>>
>>44388445
MSU, Etherial, and you have better sources of S7 so SMS. Fireblade is fine with MSU if you run a hunter Contingent and don't nerf it, just remember not to be a dick.
>>
>>44388694
Post them anyway, sword-brother
>>
>>44388730
Tau: nothing but throwers and catchers + a battlesuit that works like that dwarf roller
IG: commissars for pseudo petty cash
SM: basically dwarfs
Everyone else: has an equivalent in fantasy and will play like a re-skin of them.
I like the sounds of this.
>>
>>44388754
He will lose with infantry tau, m8.
>>
>>44388232

Annihilation Barge, Doomsday Ark, Tesseract Ark...
>>
>>44388813
you need three troop choices for the hunter cadre, and some people aren't WAACfags anyhow.
>>
Had to lie it on the side and leave most of the limbs off... But yes, a Killa Kan makes a brilliant base piece for a Y'varha. This was a good call.

I can use some scrap from the other limbs to fill in the rest of the base afterwards.
>>
>>44388899
>for the hunter cadre
Who the fuck needs this shit? Just take retaliation cadre+osc/heavy retribution+drone net for marker lights.
>>
>>44388899

Honestly, the base Fire Warriors are space filling cannon fodder for when they have more soldiers than they can build suits.

Less expansionistic Tau would prolly not even field them, not needing the extra numbers so much.
>>
Anyone have the updated corsairs list or updated IA 11? I didn't see it in the mega and I'd like to take a look at pirate eldar.
>>
>>44388931

People have raging buffmander fetishes, because apparently that's the best use for a BS5 HQ who can actually equip a huge variety of useful ranged weapons.
>>
>>44388970
It's a gimmick, it was a gimmick in the old book too, people like having fun, even weird fish-people with hooves.
>>
>>44388970
>max: 2 weapons per suit
>useful
Stop being fat, m8. With weapons commander become just expensive piece of useless shit.
>>
>>44388981

I do like the Marker Commander, but even then I give her missile pods and a target lock so she can actually contribute...
>>
What kind of commander work best for each section of the Taucurion:
-command+etheral
- core hunter cadre
-an auxiliar demanding a commander like retaliation cadre?
>>
>>44388931
Anyone who wants the pocket cash or interesting games?
Think I found the bait...
>>
>>44388999

Ha ha, yes. More expensive than 150 points+ On just sitting there passively buffing a few things. With buffs you can mostly achieve with markerlights anyhow.
>>
>>44389027
Then you should play with eldars , crons, demi-companies and warconvos. Shit, most of codexes can play well against “cheese“ tau.
>>
>>44388914
That poor Kan... he could have been with 14 of his brothers instead
>>
>>44389052
>buffing a few things.
see the new Tau codex.
It was and is a gimmick, but with the new Tau macro-formation it is actually good at its job.
>>
>>44389105

Gonna have the pilot making a panicked run for it.

Shame there's no running pose legs in this Grot kit, but I'll make do.
>>
I think they missed the opportunity of making Khan whole obssession with hunting Shadowsun a reference to Moby Dick. She even wears a fat white suit.
>>
>>44389052

>>
>>44388236 bump, anyone got the catalogue?
>>
>>44388136
>trying to bait this hard.
>>
>>44389074
Balanced games aren't inherently interesting, the Hunter contingent adds some thought to the point and click nature of some Tau builds.
>>
>>44389153

Two weapons, you can buffshare the same benefits for 3 marker hits with combined fire.

The Neurochip is more worthwhile, but doesn't keep you from taking your two weapons.
>>
>>44389201
Ive reached the point where Ive bought everything but I still want to buy. I have an Ork army and a night goblin squad. Help. I achieved this before and it ended with me starting a daemons army, which Is collecting dust as when I finished I went back to orks.

Fixed.
>>
>>44389144
Could make him cower behind some wreckage instead of running
>>
One fairly neglected Commander option is the one weapon variant. Specifically, take that one forge world signiature system that grants a marker light and target lock for 20 points, then add either a missile pod for a bit of punch to go with your BS5 split fire marker, or a flamer for overwatch.
>>
>>44389371

There's a stikkbomb brandishing model, might have him pinned under wreckage and trying to toss it?
>>
>>44389390
That actually sounds great
>>
>>44389255
Yeah, no. Strong and simple are not synonyms. Of the 'good' armies Tau suffer most from simplicity, the addition of actual choices in-game is appreciated.
>>

War Convo has more decision making than Tau, and same for Necrons or bikes.
>>
>>44389583
Pffff. By Tau you mean Necrons right?

>let me just walk my dudes up the field and they will never die.

With Tau you at least have to know everyone's army, target prioritize and position yourself to keep from being assaulted.

>>44389994
I'm pretty sure melta and las weapons only make cracking sounds from the air around them heating up rapidly.
>>
Ok so I'm thinking about getting into Grey Knights and about to pick up my first box of 10 strike guys. I'm going to build it as 2 squads of Interceptors with teleport homers to bring in some non-scatter terminators.

What is the general consensus on their loadout? Their main use is to shunt up the board, call in the terminators, then jump around harassing or going after objectives. I'd imagine they'd have 2 incinerators, but what about their melee loadout? Should I bother with halberds, or put a hammer on the justicar? Falchions? Keep em with the stock loadout?

As long as you opponent (and you) wont have to stop mid-game to confirm who he is and what he is carrying anything goes.

>>44390108
Washing up liquid is a bit on the weak side, never had much result with it.

Personally I use some cheap heavy duty potassium soap for it, one with plenty of potash/potassium hydroxide.
Look for something with a PH value of about 10-11, wear gloves and seal up the minis and agent with as little air as possible, contact with air slows and weakens the reaction.
>>
>>44390098
well i aim for the same size and bits/weapons like the model. also it's painted how the real model would be.

on an unrelated note, can a vet squad with 3 flamers fire all their flamers on the same unit?
>>
>>44390338
I posted most of that knowing there would be black lash, because Coldstar is considered terrible.I thought and in depth explanation would be required anyways, so I just put it all out there.

>>44390370
Not bait. I truly want someone to refute me because I actually believed what I typed.
>>

They have too. Unless you have split fire.
>>
>>44390426
Of course. I'm not sure what argument you have in your head against flaming the same unit.

Another thing to remember is that it's all done at the same time, so you cover as much as you can with each template then roll to wound all together before any models are removed. That and that the template is the range of the weapon, so any models that were farther away than where the template hit can't be wounded.

Hey /tg/. this Christmas I went back and found a box of really old Orks, my first ever army. As a little side project I have started to restore them but they're so awful I can't believe my past self made them.

Alright, so I asked about the Interceptors earlier, now about these Terminators. They'll be my troops choice so I'm wondering if the following is a decent general loadout:

4 halberds, 2 psycannons, 1 hammer.
>>
>>44393283
it's big enough
>>
>>44393582
halberds are generally not that great.

psycannons and hammer looks fine.
>>
>>44393582
Scratch the second psycannon, I read the entry wrong. So only 1 psycannons.
>>
>>44393582
Compared to Terminators, are Paladins worth taking? 5 man squad with 2 psycannons?
>>
>>44390175
This sounds like fun
>>
>>44393772
They are insanely expensive and only have a 5+ invuln.

So no.
>>
>>44393772

Usually, but killing them with massed S8 Ap2 or higher is fucking hilarious.
>>
>>44393772
Paladins with Draigo or a Grandmaster are one of my friends' staple squads and they kick all kinds of ass whether I field my CSM, Tau or Necrons. GK are pretty fucking good honestly with all those free psychic powers, great wargear, popping off spells easily and all that shit.
>>
>>44390175

Christmas Model questions edition

1. Am I right that the best way to run a Defiler is with a power scourge and extra fist, moving him up the board towards melee and battle cannon-ing things as you go?

2. Forgefiends. Is Ectoplasm Face + 2 Hades Gatling guns a good load out? Am I wrong that three ectoplasma cannons looks like a bad idea?

3. Herald of Tzeentch on a Burning Chariot, or Exalted Flamer. How hard would it be to magnatize everything so I could put the Herald on Foot or on the Chariot as I wanted/Put the Flamer on the Chariot when I do?
>>
>>44394142
2) Always ensure your weapons share range and preferred targets.

Having half you firepower be out of range, plink off harmlessly or be pointless overkill is a waste of points.

I'm wracking my brain over these guys. I noticed they have Hammerhand, giving them +2S. Should I even bother with halberds? The Falchions give them an extra attack though, but they're Force anyway so if I wound something it'll end up dying pretty much, right?
>>
>>44394237
halberds look cooler, though
>>
>>44393998
>kick tau
You field fire warriors, kroots, stealth suits and other kind of casual shit instead of multiple riptides, stormsurgers and crisisbombs?
>>
>>44394142
For the Forgefiends, I side with >>44394194 . I run mine basic with 2 Hades and I use them for all-purpose shooting. High strength and weight of shots means they're great all-rounder weapons for anything from hordes to special characters to MCs to even flyers but the chassis itself isn't very good and they are overcosted for what they do so keep it simple and run them basic at 175 points.

Nothing sucks harder than trying to flatten something with 3 plasma blasts at bolter range only to fuck yourself with Gets Hot! and then getting drilled full of lead. At least the hades has better range.
>>
>>44394142
>herald on burning chariot

don't bother, herald can only cast witchfires out and no summoning. as for putting magnets on, not that hard but you could just get some flamers of tzeentch instead.
>>
>>44394237
Halbers are for looks only, they used to be sweet as fuck beck when they had that imba Initiative boost.

But nowadays it's Falchion spam with a Token hammer.

>>44394284
Well 3x plasma is less siocidal when you at least have IWND to keep you standing, and a volley of S8/AP2 pies is pretty neat.
>>
You know what I would love to see in a 7.5 Ork book? Squadrons of up to 3 Looted Wagons with the old Boom Guns.

>>44394322
I guess it is neat but personally I never found much success with it. Forgefiends attract a good amount of firepower in my experience and I always have SHIT rolls with Gets Hot!
>>
>>44394406

>>
>>44390070
My friend uses these guys religiously. 2 squads of 10, novel takes strike teams. All have swords, Justicar has hammer or halberd, 2 incinerators. Always combat squad them, so you get the extra warp charge/power.
>>
>>44394455
>Yes I do
So its your problem. Riptide, or even bunch of plasma crisises fuck draigobomb without any problems.
>>
>>44394541
I guess, but I'd rather have a good hard-fought battle with miniatures i love than steamroll. I don't enjoy easy wins, they bore me to death. It's more "cinematic" like this, and allows for more personal stories and promotions for the models for feats of strength.
>>

>playing against deathstars with low-tier units

>>
>>44394678
Well I've yet to lose a single battle against them anyway. I class a good battle any battle that I find some difficulty with and actually have to earn my win through tactics and decision-making.

Plus fielding powerful shit purely for the sake of winning at all cost is pathetic. How microscopic does your dick have to be to spend hundreds of euros on an army to steamroll another dweeb on the tabletop?

A liiiittle light on AV but that's easily remediable by putting more meltas on bikes or similar. Not a terrible list for CSM unless you're planning on going WAAC which would probably mean be'lakor, and drop the raptors to fill out your gorepack.

Honestly most ways to make CSM better is just play KDK at this point.

Which are the most effective/popular loadouts and roles for Crisis suits since the last codex? How big are the typical Crisis squads now that you can bring up to 9?
>>
>>44394750
Plasma crisises pretty mediocre unit.
>>
>>44394142
Defiler is still a mess of contradictory rules and purposes so yeah it's arguably the best just battle cannoning until it can fuck things up in melee, but that's also an additional 25 points or so. Too bad the flamer on it is fucking useless because of where it's mounted.

Ectoplasma is cool and a single cannon can be worth it if you're struggling to put AV somewhere. Only worth taking 3 if you're really dedicated to taking the forgefiend and the gatling cannons are shooting at 2+/3+ armor all day. You probably won't GH yourself to death, but it might be hard to keep it firing for more than 3 turns.

Burning chariots on the whole are kinda whatever, but exalted flamers are the better option on them. Heralds are just better served being on screamers or in squads and the chariot doesn't really give them anything cool since the weapons are on the exalted flamer anyway. HoW having warpflame is also NOT cool.
>>
>>44395024
Commissar's ARE infact the likely reason there's no named IG Psykers.

Having a cheap junior commissar execute a 200 points named psyker at the first Peril would suck, characterful, sure, but painful as well.

>>44395052
We used to play in a open club but it'd turn more and more to MTG nights, LARP kindergarden.

In the end it was mostly a general hangout for the most insufferable pricks, autistic nerds, social retards and every other invertebrate willing to pay the membership fee, they'd fill up chairs and tables and at best they'd play shitpile with the clubs rookie MTG cards while eating toast and listening to awful music on their phones.

Now we play in a private club of friends.
>>
>>44395072
Plasma and missiles should still be the best for general squads, Melta for deep-strikint anti-tank. Not sure on squad size, since most competitive players have just switched to bigger suit spam.

Actually Fireknife, which I'm led to believe is the name for plasma/missile Crisis suits, doesn't seem bad at all if spammed: Not as good as splitting up specialists, but decent strength, decent rate of fire, decent flexibility.

Should do solidly in a casual meta?

Of course, even casual metas need to deal with individual Knights and Wraithknights popping up nowadays sadly. Just from people liking the models.

I think it's more about the psykers slow increase in actual power. Imean 3 editions ago they couldn't even choose what single power they actually had. Also the 'cheap commissar killing powerful named characters' was a story I read on the GW homepae back when it was good. The only LGS here is like that. A few tables but it's literally across the road from the local equivalent of sixth form/community college so it's always full of arrogant teen cunts playing M:tG and a few kids playing CoD and FIFA in the backroom where the PS3s and 4s are. The manager doesn't do shit about them because M:tG is the only thing that sells and they keep him afloat basically. That said he does have a few boards and welcomes people playing tabletop (though it may be a chore as the M:tG players may outright refuse to get up and make space and you can't say shit to them as they outnumber you 5-to-1).

I have played maybe 2 games there and go even less nowadays but I'm thinking of going back to observe some games when they do 40k and seeing if I can find a nice casual friendly guy to befriend and game with.
