For a thousand years, the Kaga family had ruled over the lands, bringing peace, prosperity, and before untold Culinary knowledge to all. Guarded and aided by their elite men, the Iron Chefs, the dynasty lived. But 40 years ago, Dacascos, pretender to the throne, seized control in a violent clash with the aging Takeshi Kaga. He and his new Iron Chefs began a reign of terror and awful cooking the world has never seen before. Man was limited to takeout and microwave food, and quality ingredients were made illegal to all but his chosen few, with severe punishments for buying or selling these materials.
That all ends today. You are the leader of the Cordon Resistance. Your group finally ends their spreading of pamphlets and their underground cooking lessons, and goes on the offensive. Your scout master, Harland Pepin, has finally found the whereabouts of Hiroyuki Sakai, one of the Iron Chefs specializing in french cuisine. With the help of his Foodon, Orangacle, he has narrowed down his location to a remote mountain pass far from Dacascos's usual territory.
The journey will be long, and you'll only be able to take a small force with you. You've selected Harland, of course, as well as your best strategist, Giada Careme. You have room for one more on your journey. Any larger and you risk raising suspicion from Dacascos's men, even so far from the center of his rule.

You prepare your supplies. On top of your basic food and such for four people, which won't actually last you all the way but you plan on acquiring some from towns as you go; your path is remote but not entirely uncivilized. You of course have your most trusted Foodon on standby.
Pepin has Orangacle, expert observer and capable of long-distance sight in a variety of modes. However, they're not much for combat, being entirely a utility foodon. Giada brings with her Raviolisimo, a general with a small cavalcade of cheese soldiers to aid them. They're excellent at pinning down threats, but the soldiers are weak and if the general goes down they all go down with it.
What foodon do you bring to the table? And what sort of person are you looking for as a fourth team member?

It's Pepin's foodon, a creature made from food and brought to life. Orangacle is made from some dish heavy on oranges and is used for scouting.

More seriously, I tried looking up Fighting Foodons and I have no idea what sorts of abilities would be appropriate. Maybe a slice of liver pate that can flatten itself really well and envelop things?

Okay, so fewer people had this show as part of their childhood than I thought. Let me explain as far as it matters for this Quest.
Chefs create dishes and enchant them with cards called Meal Tickets. This turns them into creatures for battle, or, in our case, sometimes surveillance and the like. I'm going significantly less Shonen (though still plenty shonen) with the designs, so less combat-related abilities like Orangacle's are fine. These creatures are called Foodons, and usually their name is a pun of some kind. Like Orangacle is Orange+Oracle, and Raviolissimo is Ravioli + Generalissimo.
Some thoughts I had off the top of my head for foodons based on the Cajun specialty we have.
>Gumbomber, who uses spice bombs to lay traps or disrupt the enemy
>Clawfish Etouffee, a melee foodon with a giant claw to assault
>Maccaw Choux, a large bird foodon who harasses with rapid, divebombing attacks.
Other suggestions are also good but that's just some thoughts based on good puns I could think of.
