Just online or paper too?
>>
God I hope this is true.

Also, I'm guessing that, if it is, the rest of the Legenday Land Cycle from Legends, as well as the rest of the Pitch Cycle from Alliances, will be Rares in here as well.
>>
>>44353093
>Just online or paper too?
Yeah considering you have a chance to get wastelands out of any Gatewatch pack. Sounds like a MTGO only thing.
Which is good for those people I guess.
>>
I'm assuming paper as well, since there aren't any cards on the reserve list in the leak.
>>
>>44353150
So? You have a chance to pull Onslaught fetches as expeditions in BFZ, even though they're still readily available as Rares in Khans.
>>
>>44353054
Source?
>>
I want to believe it's a reaction to counterfitting. I also realize I shouldn't trust anon.
>>
Only 19 of the 20 expeditions have been spoiled so far right?
>>

What's the fucking point of reprinting Legacy staples if half the fucking Legacy staples will never get reprinted?

Ugh fuck me when they are going to drop this stupid faggot Jace and his merry band of faggots storyline?

Enough. Focus on something else.
>>
>>44353054
If this actually happened in paper I'd draft it so fucking much.

But we can never have nice things.
>>
>>44353382

Counterfits. Wizards leaves money on the table by not. They know its an issue and putting out a product like this seriously stifles demand for it.
>>
>>44353054
I want to believe you. I swear.

I really want to.
>>
>>44353054
I wonder how many judges will get banned for this leak.

Yeah sorry there bud. I really dont believe you there.
>>

It's Gideon's band of faggots, though.
>>
>>44355984
I'm pretty sure he means all of the planeswalkers, and jace is no question the face, not gideon.

All in CA.
>>
>>44353054
There are rumors floating around that the Expedition Wasteland was just one of many upcoming Eternal reprints.

While OP might be a faggot, I wouldn't rule it out completely.
>>
>>44353503

So the solution to getting WotC to reprint essential cards is to put more counterfeits into the market?
>>
>>44357395
Just the threat of counterfeits that are to good is enough. They will find a way to reprint them if they think people can get them from some one else without anyone being able to tell.
>>
>>44353054
I wonder if Rishadan Port would be included as well if it's real. Its price on MTGO is absurd.
>>
>>44353054
I think Wizards would have announced it by now.

Besides, the direction Wizards is taking with the formats:
>Paper Formats: Standard, Modern, Commander
>Online Formats: Legacy, Vintage, Pauper
>>
>>44353054
>Zero source anywhere
OK fella
>>
>>44360196
Wizards had quite a bit of trouble hyping up BFZ due its inherent shittiness. For that reason, they delayed the Commander 2015 spoilers way more than the previous years.

I wouldn't be suprised if they didn't want to draw attention from OGW, especially after whole leak disaster.
>>
>>44359490
>tfw have to pay almost 800 bucks to get a playset of 4 digital cards
>tfw no Lands.deck to play with
>>
>>44362641
I used to have a playset of Ports, but sold them when they were around 150$ when playpoints came around.

Port prices are extremely inflated due to scarcity. If they reprint it in a Masters Set, it's probably going to crash similiar to LED, which also was 180$ at one point before it crashed down to 10$ thanks to VMA.
>>
>>44362592
>Wizards had quite a bit of trouble hyping up BFZ due its inherent shittiness.
What did you think Expeditions were?
>>
>>44363243
Expeditions were a rushed inclusion after they realized that BFZ is dogshit.

This also explains the atrocious art on most of the pieces that often don't even depict the location the name says.
>>
>>44353054

Unfortunately to ensure that normal players aren't confused by this product it will be at a different price point ($50 per booster should do) and as it's a premium product it will be limited to 100 boxes worldwide, we don't want anyone actually buying it!

>>
>>44364517
Prices would only plummet if Magic dies for real.

Price memory is a bitch.
>>
>Reprint everything except duals, the one thing people need
>Price of duals explodes
>Counterfeiting of duals explodes

Unless you're going to print everything, all of the value will be squeezed onto the cards you didn't print.

This is MTGO shit right?

collectors will loose their shit if the reserved list is kill
>>
>>44371907
Wizards would never violate the sanctity of an offhand comment they made 2 decades ago, which means that even if this is real and some cards get reprinted, the price of every notable reserved card, mainly dual lands, will climb even higher.
>>
>>44353054
Why not just make two more conspiracy sets and slowly reprint the staples as mythic and rares to keep sales floating while pretending to give the players what they want
>>
>>44371678
Konami is the exact opposite though. They reprint EVERYTHING at once, and literally every relevant card ends up with at least 2 reprints within a year of it'so release.
>>
>>44374197
For budget players that's usually a good thing, especially for the generic staples. They're getting reprints of cards that are still valid competitively (or at least still good in casual play, which is likely what they're playing if they're budget). Being a Power Creep game as opposed to a Rotational game does change how you should handle reprints.

That said, Konami routinely gives reprints to old cards that have been sitting on the banlist for a while. Monster Reborn and Pot of Greed have been Forever Banned for years now and they just got reprints last November. I'd kill a dude to be able to so much as SEE Black Lotus with a pricetag of less than a down payment on a Lamborghini, and I'm likely not alone in this.

The point of reprints is to give people access to high-demand cards that were unable to get the original printing, due to money or access issues. If the shit you're giving people access to isn't the shit they want, then there's no point in even doing it.

>>
>>44375542
Baseless speculations are fun, i heard they're gonna do trilands that enter untapped and a plane called Earth!! Let's discuss that!
>>
I don't get why wizards doesn't just tell the "MUH COLLECTION" dipshit grognards to suck their fat dick and reprint all of the (not completely broken) things. The fuck are they gonna do about it?
>>
>>44375648
iirc there's a lawsuit on the way of that.

fuck the list, i wish we could do something about it.
>>
>>44375740
Well we could kill them all.
That would solve the problem.
>>
>>44375648
Even putting aside legal issues that may or may not exist, the Maximum Overjews that are likely to benefit the most from the Reserve List also likely make up a not-insignificant portion of the income that WotC gets for this game. They could threaten to pull out if Wizards gets a little loose with the List.

This is just speculation, though.
>>
>>44375740
Unless they pull a "FF7 remake": When WotC is about to go bankrupt they'll go "POWER NINE AND DUALS REPRINTS!!!"
>>
>>44375805
>also likely make up a not-insignificant portion of the income that WotC gets for this game

How? Are they investors in someway?
>>
>>44375740

On what grounds could anyone possibly sue anyone about that? Idiots who decide to use cardboard pieces as tulip mania esque stock market have no legal standing unless I missed something. Similarly players who want old cards are not entitled to them

>>44375833

I don't see how they give WOTC any direct income, given that all the shit they buy has long since been strictly secondary market. I don't believe for a second they are the same people gobbling up boosters and other sealed product for standard and draft. Or even EDH for that matter.
>>
>>44375805
>They could threaten to pull out if Wizards gets a little loose with the List.

I doubt it. Isn't MTG like 90% of their business? SCG throwing a shitfit isn't going to stop Walmart and your LGS from selling cards.
>>
About time

even if OP is bullshitting, its going to happen eventually. The format needs a mass reprint of several cards (like Force of Will or Wasteland) if its going to survive

We can also get sweet limited strategies like Elves or Astral Slide/Cycling.dec
>>
>>44378234
What's wrong with playing Modern Elves right now? We've got plenty of cards to choose from that support them.
>>
>>44371907
There's lots of expensive legacy staples that are not on the reserved list.

>>44375833
I know several collectors that just go and buy 10 boxes every release, then basically give away everything above a playset in return for completing the last missing sets.

High income people in their 40-50s who collect because they played 20 years ago
>>
>>44379998
Legacy is been dead for years, nobody suports it. One of the main reasons is the reserved list.
>>
>>44375909
I can't think of a single grounds for a lawsuit, to be honest. Of course, my focus has been on real property rather than intellectual property but you tend to get a little bit of everything in law school anyway. I may have to look around and see.
>>
>>44380815
They promised not to reprint them. Published a list and promised "this shit wont be reprinted".

So it's not IP, but a promise to their consumers.
>>
>>44353503
It also gets versions out there that have those foil stamps, which, if I remember right, were supposed to make them harder to counterfeit.
>>
>>44381112
I think you misunderstand.

First, a promise isn't necessarily legally binding. Second, I was stating that my area of expertise lies somewhat out of the realm of WotC's business. Magic IS an IP, and rules can vary a bit depending on the specific area of law, especially as it gives Wizards certain rights as to what they can do with said property. Contracts on the internet or in relation to copyright are often more complicated to, say, me agreeing to sell you my bicycle for $50.
>>
>>44381332
Well, is weird. US law (and law system) is fucked up but a promise done is a formal and in a certain way can be legally binding. But I don't know much about US law.
Anyway, I'm sure there's more to it, perhaps the fact that is about a Collecting Card Game or a Trading Card Game? I don't know.
Also is not like the guys who support the list are investors of Hasbro in a significant way.
I'm sure there is a switch that's under 3 locks that once everything going to shit, sales dropping, less and less people playing they'll hit the switch and destroy the list.
>>
>>44381332
>If one party makes a statement or a promise that causes another party to rely on that statement in such a way that he or she is financially injured by that reliance, then a court will enforce the statement or promise as if it was a completed contract. The court does not need to find an agreement or consideration in order to enforce the promise like a contract.

First thing that popped up when I googled for it.
>>
>>44381488
The list was made as an emergency when Wizards received a huge backlash for printing Chronicles, people were afraid their collections were going to valueless (which honestly they should have accepted since it's a fucking game, not an investment). They probably haven't even had a real conversation about abolishing it since because it's a mystical sacred cow. Similar to how it took fucking forever for Sheldon to unban Kokusho. He was snap banned when the format was banned, no evaluation was then done to see how bad he was so it was just assumed Kokusho was degenerate.
>>
>>44381488
>everything going to shit
>sales dropping

that will never happen , at least not in our lifetime
>>
>>44382722
I'm yet to see someone who supports the list with good arguments (not trolling or baiting).
>>
>>44382874
>I have faith in wotc

Did you even read what the CEO said? 6 months of losses is not a good thing, and don't forget this a multinational company with tons of investors, if something is not getting you money then discard it.
>>
>>44382948
that explains the expeditions hmmm
>>
>>44372361
It wasn't an offhand comment, though.
It was a huge deal, with them officially putting 80% of all rares printed in each set on the list.
And Wizards hates the fact that they made that promise, because they apparently HAVE to uphold it for legal reasons (the way they talk about it makes it damn obvious that they haven't gotten rid of it due to legal reasons they aren't allowed to discuss publicly)
>>
>>44384464
who could actually sue them for crushing the reserved list, or on better terms just leaving power nine on the list right?
>>
>>44375909

>On what grounds could anyone possibly sue anyone about that?

Some legal thing about promissory something or whatnot in latin.

Basically it's like if someone was employed and then promised a job with a new company that said they would hire him. Then said person hands in resignation to previous employment but the new company then says that they no longer wish to hire him then that person actually has grounds for legal action. So since basically wizards announced their reserve list they are in the same situation as above and so they could face legal action against them as a result.
>>
>>44378601

Not that guy but Modern Elves is great but we're lacking some of the strong stuff of Legacy Elves like Wirewood Symbiote. Glimpse of Nature being banned also puts the deck at a lower power too. Just the inclusion of Wirewood Symbiote would make the deck really great.

>>
>>44385539
I don't know.
I do know that, besides what's stated here >>44385553 that Wizards WAS trying to get around the Reserved List in the past - printing foil versions (Negator, Karn) and very close but nonidentical versions (Reverberate compared to Fork) for a while there, before SOMETHING happened and they just...stopped.
And they're not allowed to talk about it publicly at all, which reeks of someone threatening to sue and it being settled out of court.
And they absolutely hate it because they WANT to reprint that stuff now and think the Reserved LIst is a mistake. They WANT to abolish it, but they CAN'T for reasons they are not allowed to talk about
>>
