First Order, huh?

Anybody else wanna see what civilian life is like on a world they control?
>>

I am curious about how much of the pro-human stance they're bringing back. I didn't notice any aliens among the First Order but plenty of women, so it seems they're actively toning down that aspect anyway.

Prepare for planet-wide cults.

First Order is the Empire principles being turned from a mechanical gear to a religious fervor. It's the Warhammer 40k version of the Empire.

There's a reason even the people in leadership positions look like they're in their 20's instead of their 50's, and why they actually had the demented crazy-balls to nuke Coruscant.

Tatooine Clan episode #701
This week Luke is lost looking for the first Jedi temple while Han and Leia realize that their son Kylo has gathered up the remains of the criminal gang that Anakin controlled before his death while defending his son from the gang's evil leader. Now two new faces join the rebellion, a traumatized girl strong with the force but untrained, and a deserter from Kylo's gang. Can they find the village's last hope to stand up against the criminals, Luke? Can Han survive the confrontation with his angry son? Will we be able to tell apart the new soccer ball robot and the old garbage can robot? All this and more this week on Tatooine Clan: All My Passions - The Heritage Of The Jedi Force.

>playing Star Wars D20 revised
>make a character with an interesting arc in mind
>realise it's a stupid arc
>lose all will to play that character and want to make a new one

Also, not really a star wars question, more an RPG question in general, is it okay to gimp a character for the sake of roleplay? I've had characters in the past who exceptionally under equipped for story reasons, which lead to them being almost useless in combat. And as a GM, is it okay to play a campaign where the players are made aware you don't be pulling any punches and will completely cripple their character, to the point where they need to retire thale character or find a new use for them?
>>
>>44319548
It's okay to gimp your character, to an extent. I mean as long as your GM isn't an ass or just focused on combat or something, it shouldn't be a problem if you're a bit more lacking than usual. That said, if you're not able to hold your own in at least a few aspects, your character probably isn't contributing anything meaningful to the party, which goes both ways in dragging them down and you not having fun since you mechanically suck. So feel free to not go full-in maximizing, but don't take it too far.

As long as you let players know ahead of time and they're fine with it, sure, it's fine to go into a more realistic/dangerous approach to things.
>>

Are dark jedi and sith synonyms?
>>
>>44320231
No. A Sith refers to a specific order you are inducted into.

Dark Jedi are just Jedi who have fallen to the Dark Side.
>>
>>44320231
Not quite, although they're often used as such. Being a sith implies following a specific philosophy, while a dark jedi would be any jedi using dark side powers.
For example the inquisitors and the emperor's hands are dark side users but are not sith.
>>
>>44320231
No, the sith are a tradition/religion much like jedi. Dark jedi are jedi trained as jedi who do evil shit. Sith are dudes who train to be a sith and do evil shit.

A dark jedi can convert to sithism, much like a sith can convert to jedaism.
>>
Hi, we are going to play a new campain in SWSE( probably KOTOR,, dm dind't say nothing for now). I want to play a scoundrel who doesn't know to "have" the force( i pick force sensitivity at lv1), maybe he becames a jedi later, but at the start he is a normal scoundrel fighting with blaster, piloting and being a scavenger. Do you have any advices?
>>
Do you have any SWSE houserules for balancing?
>>
>>44320335

Are the dark and light side moral opposites good and evil?

I always thought of it as chaos vs order in terms of philosphy.

The light side was about dispassionate control while the dark side was about passionate chaos.
>>
>>44320351
My houserules are:
Play FFG or WEG star wars.

But, I fucking hate WotC star wars.
>>
>>44320366
No, the light side is the (or was, depending on what disney does with the new canon) natural state of the force. The dark side is a perversion of it by it's wielder as they manipulate it for their own motives.

Confusing jedi and sith philosophies with the thing they worship is a common mistake.
>>
I'm going to give my players a complete junker freighter full of critical hits in force and destiny. Are there any ships particularly well known for being junky?
>>
>>44317333

What do guys think of this character idea for SW Rp:

>Information broker in Coruscant or other similar world
>Very good with technology, persuasion and other spy and knowledge stuff (basically a skill monkey)
>Dreams of being a Jedi, holds crazy respect for them
>But not Force sensitive
>Uses hia influence to gather Jedi holocrons and tech, strives to replicate Force powers with technology and to one day build hia own lightsaber
>Actually has a lot of skill in melee weapons but never uses it, saving it for the off chance party gets into trouble and he gets his hands on our Jedi's lightsaber so he can save the day and be cool
>>
>>44320664

Corellian Freighter.
>>
>>44320761

He's a jediaboo.
>>
>>44320885
My understanding is that corellian freighters were known to be reliable and easy to mod, and that han was just shitty at keeping the falcon in shape. His mechanic comes from a world were shit's made with wood, afterall.
>>
>>44320925

Yeah, but that doesn't really answer whether he seems like a good character concept or not.

Also, he's not supposed to act like a Jedi fanboy, but more as a quiet admirer who wants to be a member of the Justice League but knows he can never be. Also the conflict between being a smuggler and a mob boss and admiring the Jedi and their virtues.

>>44321776
Arquitens-class light cruiser. I wouldn't necessarily say they replaced anything. It's bigger and serves a different role than a decimator, and Raiders are a design of fantasy flights own making. No one can really say for sure where those fit into canon yet.

A question about the first order. Are they what remains of the empire or are they just a faction amongst the empire remnants?
>>
>>44321891
I don't think we know for sure.

We know as per new canon novels that the Alliance/Republic signed a treaty with the Empire not long after RotJ. Whether the FO is that empire, after re-declaring war, or a splinter faction unaffiliated with the legitimate empire hasn't been specified AFAIK.

Going to be playing my first X-Wing Epic match probably some time on Sunday, against a list that looks something like this:

Which seems like a dumb fun list, so I decided to also bring something dumb and/or fun and made this: http://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v3!e!88:96,43,35,-1,34:-1:11:U.48;41:27,107,110,-1,-1:-1:3:;89:27,36,-1,136,34:-1:11:U.29;42:150,36,23,-1,34:-1:11:U.165;43:43,22,34,-1:-1:3:;43:43,22,34,-1:-1:3:;43:43,23,-1,-1:-1:3:

Has anyone else looked into the new TIE Defender stuff yet? I'm kind of interested to use it, so I knocked up an aces list based on what we've been given so far.

TIE Advanced - 33 points

Darth Vader (29) with Predator (3), TIE/x1 (0) and Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

TIE Defender (41)

Colonel Vessery (35) with Ion Cannon (3), Stealth Device (3) and TIE/D (0)

TIE/fo Fighter 26

Omega Leader (21) with Juke (2) and Comm Relay (3)

The plan is obvious. Lock on with Vader or Omega, Vessery cripples it with two round of rerolled shooting, Ion keeps unit in place for clean-up, rinse and repeat..

Silly fool, you probably also assumed the Massive Desert Planet was the one from all the other Star Wars movies. Or the Tropical Jungle Planet With A Rebel Base was the one from the other Star Wars movies. Or the Frozen World was the one from the other Star Wars movies.

Honestly, that was one thing that really sort of ground my gears. If you're going to retreat planets like that, why not just do it honestly? There's really no reason that Jakku couldn't have been Tatooine.

>>44319925
Still is, actually. Apparently the Republic has the Outer Rim for territory, while the Empire is restricted to the Core and Inner Rim, with the Mid Rim as a bit of a buffer. Hosnian Prime was just the capital of the Republic which I still don't understand why they needed one, given the entire deal with the Republic is it is a loose confederation with no standing army. That's the reason they are called the Resistance, is they are effectively just planet-based militias that only come together when under a severe outside attack.
>>
>>44322134
What's your budget?
A box of Most Wanted is 2 Z-95, a Y-Wing, and pilot cards/dials for another Y-Wing, a Firespray-31, and a HWK-90.
Best bang for your buck if you already own the ships for the corresponding pilots.
And even if you don't, it's still awesome.

Unsure about Z-95 spam though, but at 12 points for the lowest tier, one could run 8 of them and still have 4 points left over for some small upgrades.
Sounds fun
>>

Apparently the book Aftermath explains that Republic simply move the Senate between planets from time to time, which is why at that time they were located at Hosnian Prime.

Something makes me think the EP VII was about proxy war(s)
Think about it, Republic turned into the Empire that spawned Rebel alliance and now the Republic is back with the rebellion still running around while The New Order is trying to end both of them and succeeds partially on the Republic part.
Now there hasn't been much said about the old Empire and what happened to it after RotJ, except that it may still be around but vastly weakened.

So New Republic and New Empire are still fighting, not directly but through Rebels and TNO.
I put my money on that Snoke is ruling both TNO and Old Empire.

Maybe not as bad as Jar-Jar, but the comparison is there. If Finn had been cut nothing would've been lost and the movie would've been better for it. His character should've been replaced with Poe. He's a kid at heart really or more a young adult than his actual age would imply. He's a failure of a Stormtrooper who worked sanitation. He refused to kill in his first battle, yet immediatelyafterwards he's perfectly happy blowing his former friends to bits. It's shown in the beginning that the other Trooper dying meant something to him, too. It makes no sense.

If they wanted to have a Stormtrooper on the side of good in the movie, they should've had him be stuck with the Resistance by some accident, mistaken as a traitor by the FO, and stay with Rey and Solo because he had nowhere else to go. The guy who you can't really trust, but he's useful right now because he knows shit and can shoot a blaster, who can ultimately prove himself to be good or betray everyone in later Episodes. It's not completely original, but it's better than "lol I guess I don't wanna be bad"

Flipping through the Ep VII Visual Dictionary I get the impression that the old Empire is just straight up dead and that the First Order is all that remains and controls the fringe territories while the New Republic controls most of the galaxy proper. Which is unfortunate if true because a) it means the huge Imperial war machine gave up ridiculously quick and b) it shoots down the idea of a cold war between the New Republic and a true Imperial remnant.

Of course, the map given on the same page as the political lore is shit so more than ever I'm going with my strategy of choosing whatever the fuck I want as canon and ignoring the rest. Fuck, I've already retconned two whole sequences from TFA and I really enjoyed that movie.

Rey will go through her Dagobah arc and learn under Skywalker and likely we'll figure out who the fuck she actually is if anyone. Do you not own a core set? A core set seems sorta mandatory. Like for the dice. And rules. and rulers.

And as far as I know neither TIE Advanced nor TIE Bomber is particularly good without sidegrades. Vader is pretty good, but not super duper competitive in any builds I've seen.

If you get a Core or two you can make a decent "Swarm + Flankers" list using the interceptors. Load up on TIEs and stick Carnor Jax in the middle, then ram the enemy until they die a hot laser-y death.

>comic relief character.
You keep calling him that but he's not, there's a difference between being in a film with a sense of humour and and actually being a comic relief character. Everyone in this film was fun and had jokes, hell they make fun of Kylo's wrecking tantrums when the two stromtroopers walk the other way like "Oh shit he's at it again."

This was a funny film get bent.
>>
>>44322883
Would you really still consider your fellow stormtroopers your brothers if they agree to shoot down unarmed civillians ?
Same goes with everything the Stormtroopers do in the movie.

I find it natural to realize that those you called brothers are actually monsters and that to survive you need to go throught them. Fin's shown to have a very strong survival instinct, it didn't surprise me all that much when he blasted those stormies.
>>
>>44322893
I liked Finn too, but I kind of agree with the other anon - he's not particularly important in any capacity. Rey solves all the problems herself, Finn usually just gets in the way.

Also, what arc are you referring to? He didn't really change after leaving the First Order.
>>
>>44315223
Its canon Kylo isn't a trained swordsman. His only real training is Force training, he couldn't even make a lightsaber. He had to jury rig existing ones together to make his own. The blade is wonky because the crystal is cracked.

He was only running on Force precognition.

The entire deal with Rey dealing the problem by herself is her character.

It's shown time and again that she doesn't need help to survive or fight off enemies. Finn doesn't get in the way, he genuinely cares and wants to help her and he does so by being her sidekick

I think they have a great dynamic with all three new characters. Poe and Rey act and Finn is the support while still being capable by himself.
>>
>>44323052
She would have never made it off Jakku without him and been blown up 3 times over. He did a lot to help fight the storm troopers and organized the whole rescue operation which in case you forgot, helped the whole resistance win the day by taking out the shields.

Also his arc was pretty obvious turning from coward to hero. Or did everything prior to that last light saber fight just mean nothing to anybody?

I really liked how Poe was a good leader as well as a good pilot. Most of his dialogue with other characters is supportive; he's all "you can do this!" and providing tips to his flight to try and keep them alive.

It works really well. He's the best pilot, yeah - he's arrogant (just look at his X-Wing and unique callsign) but he's not constantly trying to enforce that by putting other people down.

Why do people get so defensive about others disagreeing with them here?

I did find some scenes in the movie humorous, like Finn begging BB-8 to say the location of the base or the stormtroopers walking away from Kylo's tantrum, or the mind trick.

But the style of humor where everyone is suddenly extremely witty and talking really fast and oh my god what a hilarious oun haha just seems fake and disingenuous. I've never seen anyone do that outside of major "nerd" blockbusters of the past five years.

In A New Hope, Luke convincing Han to rescue Leia is funny. Leia sassing the guys when they come to rescue her is funny. Threepio dropping the spaghetti when the troops find him and R2 is funny, likewise when he thinks his friends are being crushed to death. Han running after the storm troopers is funny. They have a simplicity to them, like the characters would actually react that way, not like a writer spent days planning that line as if the character was a contemporary person.

How was Finn's presence needed for those scenes to work? The only thing he ever did was to reveal the weakness of the FO base, which you could handwave with "oh we interrupted one of their transmissions" or whatever.

I get that you liked him, for god know what reasons. Okay. But his presence was completely unneeded in the context of the movie. All his scenes and interactions could've been done by Poe with only a minor change or two to the plot and it'd have been a better movie.

I'm putting together an Analyst for a AoR game, but I'm wavering on whether it might be a better idea to go Quartermaster. I like the flavor of Analyst and the tech/face combo, their talents just seem... Slightly off. Any advice?

Thanks Anon! Not the other Anon you were talking to but you reminded me there is an OST to the new Star Wars I need to pick up.

What good is the new TIE shuttle title for the bomber? Has anyone figured out any uses for it?

>>44323977
Goddamn, that theme that plays when the X Wings come over the bay. I want the soundtrack just for that tune.

I think it's funny that the station is more destructive when reloading then when firing. So it wiped out a few planets. When it's recharging, it destroys a star. All it has to do is move into the system, suck the star dry and fly off.
>>
>>44324107
The fact that the beam propagates at hyperspace speeds means it can strike a target with no defense, whereas it's vulnerable to fighter strikes while recharging.

>>44322297
No. Jawas are rat people. Itd be cool tho.

Ohh, you want Y-wings.

Try this shit on for size:

4 x Syndicate Thugs with Unhinged Astromechs* and Twin Laser Turrets. For additional options / avoiding the Donut Problem**, swap out two of the TLTs for Blaster or Ion Cannon Turrets.

So you fly them close together, using the Astromechs to give you a lot of flexibility when it comes to movement. Every turn, you're getting what's basically 2 guaranteed damage per ship, *and* you have 5 Hull and 3 Shields per friendly ship.

No-one seems to get this, but Y-Wings are the secret heroes of this shit. Unfortunately you'd either need like four copies of Most Wanted and a K-Wing, or four Y-Wings and a K-Wing, unless you can find someone who wants to go splits, or maybe a webstore or something that sells individual bits.

*This also works if you swap out the Scum for Rebels, with Gold Sqn pilots and R2 Astromechs.

**The Donut Problem is as such: turret secondary weapons have set ranges, in the case of Twin Laser Turrets it's 2-3. So you have a donut hole in the middle, right? Anything that's Rng 1 is not a valid target for your secondary.

>Honestly, that was one thing that really sort of ground my gears. If you're going to retreat planets like that, why not just do it honestly? There's really no reason that Jakku couldn't have been Tatooine.
No win situation, if they just did the tired 'every star wars thing must feature the same planets' they'd get railed on for that instead.

I for one am glad we're seeing new planets, even if they're still ye olde single biome boring things.

Can anyone rate my list?

I've never played before and I'm running what I have.

- Darth Vader + Expert Handling + Engine Upgrade (35)

- Soontir Fel + Push the Limit + Stealth Device + Targeting Computer (35)

- Kir Kanos + Targeting Computer + Engine Upgrade (30)

For a total of 100 points.

The idea is to separate all 3 ships and hope for the best.

I like it, man. The synergy's good. Keeping those two fighters close while using the HWK as a Focus Pool, all you do is get up in your opponent's shit with all three as a squadron and go to town. But you do need to be ballsy and quick with it, and opponents will try and draw your guys out - or use long range turrets to avoid your squadron, because your guys really have to fly as jousters.

The Vatican newspaper basically said that the villains in TFA are shit and for faggots
>>
>>44324400

Sure, man.

Okay, I fucking love TIE Interceptors. I love them. But they're just not that good.

Glass cannons. You have to use Fel and Vader's multi actions to keep mobile, and I guess - wait, isn't Kanos an Interceptor pilot? Why does he have Engine Upgrade? He already has Boost. Drop it.

Didn't the old Pope look just like Palpatine?

Confirmed.

I want it to happen.

Okay. If you want to keep using these ships, what you need is a Scum ship called a Starviper, for its Autothrusters cards, should be two in one expansion iirc.

Also, maybe put Royal Guard TIE and Stealth Devices on the two Interceptors, if you have a second copy. If not, maybe get an M3A Interceptor, another Scum ship. It's cheap, and now you have the core of a Scum squadron. Pick up another M3A (worth it for the cards anyway imo), and you have:

Fel / PTL / Auto / Stealth

Kanos / PTL / Auto / Stealth

Vader / Engine Upgrade / Sq Leader (or maybe Swarm Tactics)

To be fair SUPREME LEADER needs to get interesting or get dead because he's certainly not intimidating.
>>
>>44324479
PTL Fel I'd say is that good.

I think that's not actually what Snoke looks like. It was a hologram projection, but I think we'll eventually get a "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain" moment.
>>
>>44323778
I think he'd have to show up at least for a little bit. Someone has to explain how the fuck that lightsaber ended up in that box.

Also, Vader could take Wingman (if you have / can get a copy) to relieve stress. More on this in a sec.

So, you keep the TIE Interceptors moving, hitting targets at close range and doing their best through actions (especially Fel) to keep out of fire arcs and away from harm. Vader flies in support, giving actions to Kanos (or relieving Fel's stress without him having to do green moves if you have Wingman) and just cleaning up anyone who's taken a few hits as it is.

So, he's about as funny as any of us.
>>
>>44324594
He's probably Wizard of Ozing the universe at large.
>>
>>44324624

I do like him, but like I said he is really glass cannony. With that loadout he is a bit more survivable, like a mini Whisper.

Run it as a Foward Air Controller.
