>The Mechanicus finds an STC for a LYNX unit
How do things improve/how do they mess it up?
>>
>>44305945
the fuck is a lynx unit? are we talking something titan-sized or is this like the size of a crisis suit?
>>
>>44306129
A regiment of cats.
>>
>>44306129
Think a Crisis suit with a healthy does of goes fast
>>
>>44306129
>>44306156
That would just be a Felinid regiment. Unlikely, but it changes nothing.
>>
>>44306179
Why would they be a felinid reg.?
>>
Are we talking NEXTs?

Those things are easily at least a hundred meters tall. They stand around half the size of skyscrapers, and in another game-related comparison, ACVD features a NEXT as an enemy, and it's multiple sizes larger than your average Normal, which itself is significantly larger than any ground vehicle, outright dwarfing tanks into insiginificance.

I'm sure if they found an STC for a NEXT, it wouldn't be able to function unless they made Kojima particles or an equivalent to it. They need a way to amass immense degrees of energy at all times, as well as maintain it. I don't even think Primal Armor or the like matters much, but they need a way to keep those monsters moving at top speed. In the following video, the large one is the NEXT, the players are Normals, and a Normal is large and powerful enough to simply roll over a tank.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9HWVpYt4AM

Also, to any other Armored Core fans on /tg/, wouldn't ACFA be pretty ahead of WH40K powerlevels? I honestly think shit like Assault Armor, the size and speed of the weaponry, and most other elements thoroughly outmatch Tau mechs in almost all regards other than the speed with which they can be repaired, which honestly doesn't seem like a major issue, considering your mech will always be functional after every fuck up.

Basically a scout titan that moves like a land speeder.
>>
>>44306328
A normal is probably around the scale of a Scout Titan. A NEXT is more like a Warlord titan.

Dude, what the fuck are you smoking?
ACs average like, ten meters tall.
Except in 5 and VD. In those, they're five meters tall.
NEXTs are usually in the same size range, with a few really freakish outliers.

they'd see it as an abomination to the empreror and the machine god. Rig it from toe to head piece with plasma charges, blow it up and drop it's remains onto a junkyard planet.

I think you mean ARMS FORT when you speak of NEXT, AC's average 10 meters while in ACVD they average 5 meters

But comparing a Tau battleduit to a AC is like comparing a lion to a housecat. I firmly believe a AC outperforms a battlesuit in every regard, especially considering that in ACFA battles are fought with AC's flying, dodging and shooting all while moving like what, 700 K/hm on average

Easy. All the skulls and other random shit the AdMech puts on their everything to appease the machine spirits causes the thing to unballance and crash. They then declare it to be corrupted and heretical and destroy the STC. Nothing changes.

Heresy. Why else would imperium choose to not use more highly advanced tech

Well, first off it needs more grimdark.
>>
>>44311968
One of the three endings puts you through a mission where you single-handedly crash five low atmosphere planes, each of which is estimated to carry twenty million people on board.
The ending then implies that you go and take out more of the things.

40K needs to be less Grimdark. The Tau are a good start.

Maybe 40K should have it's own Age of Sigmar event that changes the battlefield entirely and we can just fight with mecha and mecha equivalents.

Man that story can pretty confusing, I honestly don't remember much of that story at all
>>
>>44312500
Start from the beginning.

AC1 > ACPF > ACMoA > AC2 > AC2AA > AC3 > AC3SL > ACN > ACLR > AC4 > ACfA > ACV > ACVD

Throw in Ninebreaker between Nexus and Last Raven if you're a masochist.

AC2 has the most interesting story, while ACSL has the best mechanics of the 3rd gen ACs. ACfA is my favorite overall.
>>
>>44312682
What's wrong with Nineball? I skipped about half of the ps2 games back in the day.
>>
>>44312721
Ninebreaker*
>>
>>44312782
Nineball has no story. It's all challenge missions with increasing difficulty depending on various situations (like dodging missiles, running obstacles, killing targets, etc). It has a ranked arena to play through. It's great if you want to practice both your skills and builds, but not much else.

The final mission is the more difficult bosses in the series because of the bullshit cheats they put on it, but a great challenge and extremely satisfying if you actually can beat him.

>>
>>44305945
1. It's a NEXT, Lynx are the pilots.
2. NEXTs and Lynxs aren't that great compared to a 2nd or 3rd Generation AC and a master Raven.
>>
>>44312545
Because it was basically never mentioned. I didn't realize who the last boss of 4 was until AFTER I beat most of FA.
>>
>>44312682
>AC2 has the most interesting story

Amen to that. It's also the only AC game located on Mars, and so little about the place was ever explored, and the subject of the biomechanical Disorder Units was woefully underexplored.

I'd love for the next AC game to return to Mars as a setting.

>>44316831
I think they said that DS3 would be the last in the series so I am cautiously optimistic about an AC6.
>>
>>44317006
I think the AC itself is mostly the same, but H+ essentially moves the AMS interface from the machine into the pilot. It makes sense if you look at NEXTs as the first generation ACs rather than the 4th.

Each ending was morally viable imo with the stereotypical "good ending" being the least so.

This follows if you assume that what humanity has become is disgusting, and not really worthy of redemption. Living in the clouds, as slaves to megacorps, hanging over a destroyed planet with no way off is a sad existence that can only hope to endure as some kind of testament to the failures of humanity.

Orca were the "idealist" heroes. They were the only ticket for humanity to achieve something greater than being stuck on "trash bin earth" forever, but their leadership and soldiers all seem to be suffering from varying degrees of sociopathology or PTSD, and I can't see the future of humanity being great under them either. Perhaps we get off earth, but at best I assume we will just make other planets war torn battlegrounds as well. This is probably the ending with the only opportunity of a good outcome for humanity but its slim.

The final ending, extermination of humanity, is a morally valid ending imo. Humanity is not worth redemption at this point, and is a clear and present danger to whatever life may exist in the rest of the galaxy. Whether the main protagonist carries out this genocide because of simple hatred for humanity or some kind of sociopathic desire for genocide like old king appears to possess is kind of meaningless. War creates monsters and this is the logical conclusion of endless war.

I've always found the story in most AC games hard to follow. More so if I ever flip flop between groups throughout the game because I want different rewards.
>>
>>44324589
You scum.

The Pax Economica. The cradle system. They are a detox state for our species. They are the ultimate stress test, twisting the arm of the common man so hard that eventually humanity will rise again from the ashes of the dead corporations. That's why Rayleonard and ORCA both had to die; they tried to buck the system before people were ready. That is why the League had to be kept stable and in charge. Line Ark had some potential for good, but I doubt they would have pulled through in the end.

It is the secret duty of all lynx to make sure the oppressors keep doing their job of oppressing, and to die with them when they are ousted. Only then can we be sure that humanity will be strong enough to survive in a free state, whether in the clouds or on the ground. Idiots like you who have lost faith in the common man are merely another obstacle in the path to recovery.
