Maybe they'll show up in IA14 or it'll be another second edition.

Just find something to prevent them from shooting or makes them feel guilt at shooting.
A: Throw a big mean ugly daemon engine or Kharn or Abby in the middle of them. They'll be busy trying to find a good shot while you murder their friends while using the ones that haven't died as cover. If they kill you with a riptide, they'll kill their friends and live with the guilt.

If there's an ability or special rule that forces you to take snapeshots, does it means no flamers except in over watch?
>>
>>44304027
Yes
>>
>>44303863
Lifta Droppa ignores AV, but is restricted by ork BS.

Zzap kannon has a d3 shot cousin but it's just as unreliable.

Smasha gun is more reliable but it still struggles to get to Av 14.

Blitza booma is technicly ranged, even thoug it has to move over the enemy to deliver it's payload.

There's also the Kill Blasta and Kill Bursta tanks, first fires s10 ap 2 shots.
The other can launch sD ap2 7" large pies, big enough to hit most of a LR squad, though the tank cost about as much as a squad of them too...

Not at all, it's actually pretty useful, and gives your squad some melee versatility.

I run either Power Mauls/Combi-Flamers, Combi-Flamers/LC, or Combi-Melta/Chainfist.

For the record, ALWAYS take Lightning Claws over Power Swords if you're going to go that route. You lose nothing by taking it and gain Shred.

Power Mauls when facing Guard are fucking murderous.

Power Axes are kind of a waste if you're running Slaaneshi terminators, as are Fists/Chainfists, but they can still be useful.

Never underestimate the strength of a Reaper Autocannon in the right place, and Heavy Flamers mix really well with Combi-Flamers.

DoW Anon here. I think I know why the game keeps crashing on me. It's Ulkair. It has to be. Every time I'm near the third temple before I get to the one near Kyras, I summon Ulkair. Why would that be lame? That'd be smarter than 90% of 40k players who just herp the derp and claim 40k doesn't take skill to play despite having no idea how to play 40k well, then when you tell them how ignorant they are and demonstrate complex/multi-stage tactics they say you're "abusing the rules".

Practicing the game and going through the motions properly, and sticking to them, will help drill and reinforce more efficient play and remove your sloppy habits. But that's only if you actually stick to it and do ti right. If making the game smaller helps you focus, then do what you have to do.
>>
>>44304490

No limit on what kind of gear you can give them.

Get yourself a codex and check the weargear and such.

Good way to start is 1 Klaws, 2 big choppa, one Kombi Skorcha (flamethrower) and one guy with a boss pole

Always take the bosspole for WS5 and consider converting a large impressive banner using one of the 2-handed big choppas as a base.

I have a Tzeentch Daemons army, but honestly I'm not super happy with it. All the random pre-battle rolls preclude both personality in characters and broader strategy than spamming shit.

There's also that in theory, flickering fire is meant to stand in for shooting, but yeah after playing in a modified kill team with 500 points of Daemons where the power consistently failed to kill single, single wound models... I haven't even bothered trying it in real games.
>>
>>44306016

Well, what kind of stuff do you use? Mono God isn't usually all that great.
>>
>>44305631
The problem is in the points cost. At 1500 (The usual size of the tournaments in my closest shop) after the paskisher combo, a melta-veterans squad, a couple of wyverns (130 points of awesone) and the librarius i just have 300-400 points to spare.
I'll most likely get a CAD of tacticals if i decide the librarius anyway but I'll most likely just get 1 librarian and run the marines as allies.
>>

>>
>>44306068

I ended up after a while using a 20 flesh hound blob as my get shit done unit. They go out and win the match for me whilst my psykers, flamers and big guys dick around the fringes alternating between supporting the Flesh Hounds and trying to find a middle ground between doing nothing of value and being broken horseshit like a biomancer prince and summon spam.

Turns out, there is not a middle ground. Srsly my woofs pretty much are my army.
>>

>>
>>44306016
Outside of Screamerstar, which isn't that good anymore, Tzeentch Daemons are okay at best. The change in how psychic powers are manifested neutered their shooting, and the fact that only one psyker in a unit can cast a given power managed to neuter the Tzeentch deathstar builds while still leaving them as extremely unfun builds to play against.
>>
>>44306114

>>44306239
This.

As a fellow daemons player, I recommend mixing and matching units without limiting yourself to a god. The faction is incredibly fun and varied if you do that and, best of all, you will get shit done everywhere, as opposed to that one group of pissed off woofs.
>>
>>44306157
>I'll decide what's worth keeping
Thank god we all have the same tastes as you. .
>>
>>44306239

Yeah, I don't really do deathstars anyhow. (I'm not sure anyone plays psychic powers that "One Psyker per unit" way though, the phase kinda falls apart if you break it down like that? Not that it matters to me, I don't have any multi-Psyker units)

But essentially my psykers are caught between ineffectuality or summon spam and Biomancy, with Cursed Earth being the only middle ground of a reliably great but non-absurdly good power.

I have yet to find something useful for a Lord Of Change to do besides combat and contributing to summon spam.

I'm all for someone going at it. And if we don't like it we can always revert it.
>>
>>44306369
While the core of the psychic phase is fantastic, it still needs a lot of refinement.

A lot of powers, especially witchfires, need buffed while a couple need nerfed. The tables need to be made less random. Everybody needs access to some sort of psychic defense.

The problems that daemons have would be easier to fix by giving the lesser daemons their own unique way to cast spells, where they don't generate warp charge or spells but instead just know one or two spells that they cast with a leadership test.
>>
>>44306369
a lot of ppl have misread how manifesting psychic powers work i think.

a "psychic unit" is not for example a unit comprised of 3 IC who are psykers.
Each psyker is an independent psychic unit.
If all 3 know invis, then all 3 of them could attempt and fail or pass to cast invis.

Brotherhood of the psyker such as what Warlock conclave have is different, and that unit could not attempt to manifest the same power more than once.

>>44306598

Lesser Tzeentch Daemons need specific, reliable psychic shooting attacks back, yes. Maybe have them generate Psyker points as a battery if they refrain from shooting?

I'm also a fan of the idea of making all disciplines have D3 powers, so a mastery 3 Psyker can choose to master a discipline. Just make sure there's no invisibility style power that single-handedly distorts the game around itself.
>>
>>44306622

>>
>>44306680
I'd make them all D3 tables, where each number has two powers that you get to choose between. Then just tweak them so that they're all a bit closer in power.

What I'd really like to do is make it so that individual psykers generate more warp charge but also make it so that psykers can't sharge warp charge. Then make sharing warp charge a special rule tied to units like seer councils, daemonic heralds, librarius conclaves and the like.

Each and all 3 of the farseers could manifest the same power.
brotherhood of the psyker units are different.

This is why anyone who tries to rules lawyer the book instead of read it in the tone it was written should be put on some sort of registry and denied entrance to stores, clubs and tournaments.

GW write their rules in a very casual tone. This might lead to pickup games being a lot shittier, and power gamers running more rampant, but it is how it is. Going HURR STRICT RAW instead of, y'know, reading what the book is fucking saying, makes things worse. Every time.
>>

After reading the rules a bit closer, I have to apologize for saying that the rules were clear and I've switched over to supporting the idea that a unit that has multiple psykers can cast multiple instance of the same psyker, as long as each psyker only casts the power once.

All sorts of other weird inconsistencies start popping up otherwise, like a psyker being able to cast any of the powers that another psyker in the unit knows, since the rules just say to select a power that "the selected unit" knows.

Now go away and think about what went wrong in your life to be this much of a faggot.
>>
>>44307027

>Is this the most cynical and grimdark piece of fluff
The most? No, when you make statements like that, you find there's always something worse. For instance, pic related.
>>
>>44307291
Fine Christ I'll talk it over with my friends.
>>
>>44306852
still not daemonaculaba

What about the one where the daemons fuse everybody to the planet's surface?
>>
>>44306923
What is the context? It's clearly a riferiment to the medieval children crusade that happened in the real world, but I feel I am missing something.
>>
>tfw try to play a game against myself
>By the top of turn two realize I am too novice and have been supported by all the Veterans I have played
>Never appreciated the god-saint other players who spoonfed me rules on demand

Looks like I have to re-reread the rulebook. Constantly pouring over the book, even during a game against myself, infuriates me.

why cant I just git gud?
>>
>>44307291
I fucking hope you never become a juror, because Christ alive you're taking a license of interpretation far beyond any reason.

/tg/ do you like playing against people who don't care if they win? As in - the person across the table from you just wants to roll dice and have fun. He doesn't do anything overtly stupid or suicidal but he clearly is just there for the experience and socializing.
>>
The most Grimdark piece of fluff would presumably start with the line:

"Lord Inquisitor Grimmus Darkus grimly stalked the dark halls of the Darkgrim class Black Ship Grimdark..."
>>
>>44307387

Yes.
>>
>>44307387
preferable
>>
>>44307373

It's talking about units that manifest powers you faggot. Do you think it's talking about psyker units or about ork boyz?
>>
>>44307078
Five Tau armies, two necrons, six orks, maybe eleven space marines, one KDK,
one other CSM player, three eldar, one dark eldar, two space wolves and maybe three IG.

Only different armies would be one of each of, Dark angels, blood angels, and minor admech that doesn't show up very often.
>>
>>44307387

Anyone besides the biggest cunt would enjoy an opponent like that. This is the click-bait of TG questions and I just ate it up.

We have an Ork guy who understands his army isn't winning anything and through kit bashes he fields crazy annoying things like Mek Gun spam or warbuggie horde.

Last week he brought 21 defkoptas.

He usually makes CADs and actual lists but will ocasionly trick someone into an unbound match and run 1500 points of warbuggies all converted from different orkified hot wheels.
>>
>>44307387
I don't mind, but 'some' competitive investment is preferred, if they are completely blase it can kill the mood. If they react to cool shit happening than than they care enough for my preference.
>>
>>44307336
Don't think I know that one. But that's exactly what I'm talking about. Every time I think I've plumbed the depths of the grimdark, something even worse comes along. Chenkov's bridge building, that Guard convalesence world whose primary exports are combat servitors and corpsestarch, the Daemonculaba... you get it. It's Grimdark all the way down.
>>
>>44307387
i felt like that in my last game since i knew the other player was gonna crush me, moral victory for me since i had 80% of the models painted

i can't wait to get my bloodthrister into play since he finally has magnets and greenstuff in the gaps
>>
>>44307470
'any unit' implies the entire unit as opposed to 'Psyker unit', which would imply other psykers in the 'unit' as separate.
>>
>>44307078

>Necrons / Ultra Marines
>Tyranid / Space Wolf
>Ravenwing
>KDK
>Eldar

And now we are expecting an AM player.

Everything was pretty cool until Eldar just showed up like "lolwraithhost" and initiated an arms race within our group.

To be fair KDK and I have been trying to out gun eachother since day one
>>
>>44307078
Tau, SM, Necrons, Eldar, KDK, IG, and some 'Nid.

>Default leman russ is 150 for an AV14 S8 AP3 blast tank
>Looted wagon with all upgrades for survivability is 105 points AV 11 S7 AP 3
Holy fuck. Is the only way to kill them as orks is to outflank my buggys and into the rear armour or suicide tankbustas?
>>
>>44307617
Fug, didnt mean to quote

Debating between making my BaC box Imperial Fists or Red Scorpions. Planning on allying GK for Dreadknights...any advice which one makes better use of having 30 fucking tacticals?
>>
>>44306750
Its seem a strong list. The only thing I would remove is the tactical squad. Without special weapons their only role would be to take objectives, and with the same points you can take two units of scouts in Land speeder storms or things much better at it.

Also I can't really see an use for the second librarian. Tigurius go with the Centurions, but him?
>>
>>44307617
Getting up into its face has always been the best way for orks to kill a russ
>>
A handful of tards in here spreading misinformation and misinterpretations of psyker rules.

Clearly none of you have left your moms basement or at best have played at your local GW store with other inbred rednecks playing the basic entry level store version of 40k

none of you have ever gone to a GT, anything resembling a tournament.

none of you follow or complete in anything remotely resembling actual competitive 40k

gtfo with your rules nonsense

go read some FAQs for any of the top tournies and realise that ALL psychic units in the game are played as being allowed to cast multiple versions of the same power

stupid dumb muppets
>>
>>44307564
Read all the phrase you retard, not just the words you need for your inane argument.

Also know that you are arguing that all pysker in a unit know each other powers as in all instances is worded that you select a power the unit know.
>>
>>44307617
I know this pain, tell me when you find the answer
>>
>>44307353

Rough anon, are you the alaskan or the midwestern from earlier in the thread?
>>
>>44307713
*grammar triggered
>Also know that you are arguing that all pysker in a unit know each other powers as in all instances is worded that you select a power the unit know.
Only if you assume that 'psyker unit' refers to the entire unit, which it clearly does not, which is why the different wording would be pertinent.
>>
First thing in Jan is apparently new "start boxes" for a few armies and rereleasing a load of spray cans. Too lazy to repost the pics, see >>44307727 and >>44307743. They claim these have discounts of 30-40%, I'm also too lazy to add it up myself to see if that's true.
>>
>>44305180
No one will mind if you make it a separate page. I for one enjoy the jokes, but i see why others wouldn't.
>>
>>44307797
It doesn't say psyker unit you idiot.
>attempt to manifest a power the new unit knows
>>
>>44307617
If you HAVE to go at frontal/side armour:

Loads of Rokkits can glance it to death though 10 of them will take ~1 HP per turn.

Blitza-bommas can crack them, though it's psudo melee.

The Zzaps guns S2d6+d6, or the smasha's s4+d6+d6

LoW also offer some anti russ power.

A Big mek can potentially do it with his SAG though the odds are low.
>>
>>44303091
Y'know you're pretty cool for a Xeno. You can live.
>>
>>44303863

ITC ruled that it was fine. Every time you think it's scummy to use it, I want you to look at a Wraithknight and see how many points it costs.
>>
>>44307849
Fucking heretic, you shall die as you lived. A pitiful small blimp that dared to cross the Emperor.
