In Pathfinder, there's this racial feat for Goblins...
>Benefit: If you are struck by a melee weapon you can try to convert some or all of that damage into movement that sends you off in an uncontrolled bouncing roll. To do so, you must make an Acrobatics check (DC = 5 + the damage dealt from the attack) as an immediate action. If you succeed in this check, you take no damage from the actual attack but instead convert that damage into movement with each point equating to 1 foot of movement.
Looking for some kind of equivalent in d&d 3.5 but can't find anything. Is there something similar?
No.
Because it's stupid.
>>44256571
Why?
This feat could make you basically invincible
>>44256586
Yes it can. That's why it's stupid.
>>44256586
Because there are two ways this could go:
>Weak attacks
You make the check easily, and save yourself from a pittance of damage. If you have space to get knocked back. And don't get knocked behind the squishier party members. And don't get knocked into an environmental hazard.
>Strong attacks
You fail the check. You take full damage. Feat is useless.
>>44256536
Oh my god. That's hilarious. Send an army of bouncy goblins against a party of level 3+ PCs.
Bouncing Gobbos. Bouncing Gobbos everywhere.
Jesus Christ, that would make Darguun in Eberron one step from bringing the Dhakaan Empire back.
>>44256717
>Strong attacks
>You fail the check. You take full damage. Feat is useless.
Incorrect, you just minus whatever you rolled. And you can choose the direction you want to go.
>>44259217
And while I'm not crazy familiar with Pathfinder, I know in 3.5 that if you choose to focus on a skill it's pretty easy to get it to absurd levels.
>>44259217
>If you succeed in this check
>succeed this check
>succeed
typical 3aboo
>>44259307
Be that as it may, it's not that hard to get acrobatics up to crazy levels. Maybe with stronger attacks you would fail, but you can succeed as well. And you only have to succeed on one, and you're out of their range, given that they are melee focused
>>44259348
>succeed on one check
>an immediate action

he didn't copy the entire text, either, you're fucking staggered the turn you use it even if you fail
>>44259405
Hey easy with the attitude buddy, just wanted to talk about this feat a little.
>>44259405
And if you build a class that's all about acrobatics, you'd be making crazy checks every time you roll. Kind of get the feeling you have something against goblins dude
>>44259534
i have something against trash feats with some flavor completely wasted on them, so 95% of 3.X's content
>congrats on making one check to prevent one attack's worth of damage! you're staggered, launched in a straight line that provokes attacks of opportunity, and proned if you if you hit a wall
read the entire feat text before you shitter sitters sit around defending paizo's awful balancing

>>44259589
lol
Not defending it, it's just a funny feat dude. In any case, not everyone has to play characters the same way you play them, so...
>>44256536
Do they take 1d6 per 5ft moved?
>>44259779
If they hit something, I think so. Probably wrong, but if you hit something before the "flight" is over, you take damage like you were falling.
>>44259779
>>44259951
No, see >>44259589
It's 1d4 damage, flat, if your move is interrupted.
It really seems more like funny flavor for an opponent than something actually meant to be very useful.
Then again, I don't know. if you're a rogue with really high acrobatics, you have a slightly chance of negating an attack that might kill you, while also moving away.
>>44260127
That's pretty much the main reason I love this feat. For me rogues are my go to class, and this solves two problems in one. Reduce damage taken and gtfo. Works for me
>>44260352
whatever, then take it, just know that your weight on the wizard's shoulders just got a little heavier
looking forward to your next EPIC post about how you would have taken damage, but instead you spent an entire round standing up from prone
>>44260386
you do know about kip up or any feat that makes standing a swift/move/free action?
looking forward to your next EPIC post where you continue to be cynical and refuse to see the joy in life
>pic related
>it's you
>>44260433
>kip up
you used your immediate action to use your awful feat in the first place, you stupid 3aboo, you can't use a swift on the next turn
pic related
>>44260386
Maybe that's the plan.
Maybe I'll do just that, play a fat goblin that finds a way to curse himself to ride, forever, on the wizard's shoulders.
Forever. He could piss off a djinn and be like 'you better not make me ride on that wizard's shoulders for eternity! That would be the worst!'
And a DM, one of particular meta thinking, might enjoy that.
>>44260581
>you can only play a wizard if you let an obese goblin ride you around like a pony
>your magical powers are inextricably linked to how fat, annoying, and weak he is
finally, 3.X is balance
the butthurt in this thread is wonderful
>>44259217
>you just minus whatever you rolled
The feat doesn't say that. Am I mistaken?
>>44256717
3.PF in a nutshell.
