Dreadhold is cool edition

No new model until january; fyreslayer will fight for ur-gold. What is ur-gold then? I think that ur-gold exist in 40k too; is that something important, not just a precious metal, like the shard of their god?
>>
>>44242957
>What is ur-gold then?

probably something more retarded than you would have thought of in your wildest dreams

that's AoS in a nutshell
>>
>>44242957
Ur-gold is the opposite of mye-gold.

Hurr hurr hurr.
>>
>>44243489
>>44242957
It's probably special gold that can't be transmuted.
Because normal gold is worthless given Chamon being a place.
>>
>>44243489
>>44243494
>>44243526

My favourite theory is that ur-gold are fragments of Grimnir, after he was destroyed fighting that fire lizard or whatever it was, and the fyreslayers want it back to bring him back to full power.
>>
>>44243494
>mercenary
>fights for ur gold
it's like pottery
>>
>>44243551
Was that Grimnir or Gotrek?

>>44242957
>What is ur-gold then?
I was told it was gold from the Old World. Fragments of their relics that survived.
>>
whats a good lizardmen army list?
>>
>>44244091
>Was that Grimnir or Gotrek?

Grimnir.
>>
>>44244091

If I remember correctly it is the shards of Grimnir that were scattered when he died killing the giant Salamander beast in the realm of fire. They want to get all the shards to try to bring him back. They're willing to fight for anyone in exchange for the shards.
>>
>>44244156
>If I remember correctly

You do not. There is nothing to remember on this matter.
>>
>>44244149

Will Gotrek EVER.
FUCKING.
DIE.
>>
>>44244203
Nope, he now fulfills a useful function for the Dark Gods.
>>
>>44244224
>Nope, he now fulfills a useful function for the Dark Gods

Explain?
>>
>>44244194

I didn't make it up some I'm pretty sure I read something like this in one of the books. I'll look into it later.
>>
>>44244285
Gotrek, like Grimnir before him, is where the Gods through their garbage failure daemons at until they are ready to forgive them.
Essentially they have set him up to be their perpetual spanking machine.
>>
>>44244303
You did not.
You probably just read about it here. See >>44243551
>>
>>44244285
Not him.

But as I recall from the novel, Gotrek keeps Be'lakor's daemon armies from being free.
>>
>>44244332

I wrote both posts
>>
>>44244149

See, I'm not sure.

It's established canon that Gotrek dies killing something more powerful than a greater daemon. I think the king of drakes certainly qualifies.

>>44244324
>throw*

What will they do now that there's no Grimnir/Gotrek to fill the role?
>>
>>44244357
>See, I'm not sure.
>It's established canon that Gotrek dies killing something more powerful than a greater daemon. I think the king of drakes certainly qualifies.

Gotrek was killed by Grimnir.

>What will they do now that there's no Grimnir/Gotrek to fill the role?

There's still a Gotrek so far as we know.
>>
Gotrek Gurnisson was the real winner of The End Times.
>>
>>44244380
>Gotrek was killed by Grimnir.

True, but we are told his true death comes whilst killing something. And he definitely didn't kill Grimnir.

>There's still a Gotrek so far as we know.
I thought at the end of Slayer Gotrek replaces him and Grimnir just kinda fucks off?

Fuck, where is Felix in all of this? Is he still bound to Gotrek?
>>
>>44244482
>True, but we are told his true death comes whilst killing something.

Not really though. That prophecy was fulfilled in Slayer.

>I thought at the end of Slayer Gotrek replaces him and Grimnir just kinda fucks off?

Yes. Griminir then shows up again in AoS where he dies. Gotrek is still around so far as we know.

>Fuck, where is Felix in all of this? Is he still bound to Gotrek?

Felix was on the world that was when it was destroyed. He was not bound to Gotrek.
>>
>>44244482
Felix died by a lack of oxygen. Drowning I think.
>>
>>44244582
>He was not bound to Gotrek.

I thought he and Gotrek were bound together to constantly fuck over Chaos?

>That prophecy was fulfilled in Slayer.
How so?

>Griminir then shows up again in AoS where he dies.
So it was definitely Grimnir? I thought it was supposed to be ambiguous.
>>
>>44244763
>I thought he and Gotrek were bound together to constantly fuck over Chaos?

No. He was released from his oath.

>How so?

He was killed by Grimnir.

>So it was definitely Grimnir? I thought it was supposed to be ambiguous.

He is literally called Grimnir. I don't see how it could be ambiguous.
>>
>>44244353
I don't know if you are claiming to of posted >>44243551, but if you are then stop being such a fucking liar because I did, and there would be no reason to even pretend you did anyway.

If that isn't what you meant, then you was not very clear.
>>
>>44244763
>>44244849

OK did some research. Fyreslayers fight for anyone for gold. Per the AOS Primer.

Sigmar rescues Grungni and Grimnir in the realm of fire. They were somehow bound to the top of a mountain. Grungni repays him with his craft and Grimnir kills Vulcatrix, Mother of Salamanders, though Grimnir and Vulcatrix explode in their final clash. Her shards create volcanoes where they land and only the Duardin know what has become of the shards of Grimnir. Per the AOS Might Battles book.
>>
>>44244791
Grimnir was fighting an unending daemon horde
Gotrek took his place letting grimnor join the end times
Since the whole realms got messed up gotrek and the white dwarf may be addressed in the duradin or fyreslayer stuff
>>
By the way all. Ur as a prefix just means ancient/archaic. They probably just called it ur-gold to make it sound cool. The writers for AOS seem to have a hard on for using it with different words throughout the narrative.
>>
>>44244324
but that's wrong.
>>
>>44243551
I like this idea, maybe the Fyreslayers in dire straights sacrifice these fragments to create Avatars of Grimnir
>>
>age if suckmar general

>>
>>44248404
It's better than WHFB ;)
>>
>>44248404
It looks like you have anal cancer, since you sound booty blasted as fuck
>>
>>44248966

Lol
>>
>>44244791
Felix and Gotrek were bound via a powerful curse to oppose chaos, not an oath.

Gotrek took Grimnir's role. It's possible that he would just be called Grimnir after that.
>>
Bought myself Maggoth Lord and box of Blightknights for xmass because they looked cool.
I've never played any tabletop games, just painted figs for fun, but I've heard you can play AoS with small forces.
What else would I need to set up some small nurgle force on table?
>>
>>44248935
>implying
>>
>>44250844
Technically you have all you need right there for a small game. A Hero and a unit is the backbone for a force.

From here on you just expand for larger games. You can get Chaos Warriors and nurglefy them with the spare blightking bits. Chaos warriors are a basic tough troop for chaos. Also you can go into chaos daemons. Getting nurglings and plaguebearers. Also nurgle allies very well with Skaven Pestilens. Plagueclaw catapults are a nice touch for range support, and plague monks provide good disposable chaff.

More than anything, keep doing what you've done so far, and get what you think looks cool.

AoS is unique from other wargames in that with it you field the army you want to field, not what you need to.
>>

I'm too old for getting presents from anyone.
And as I said, i bought models because I liked them. I don't care if some random guy form internet likes system or not because it used to be diffrent when he started collecting his own army.
>>
>>44246355
How so?
>>
As I posted in an earlier thread, I lost my HE army on the tram, and find myself rebuilding from what I have left. Going for a shooting-heavy army as that's what the elves are for me, wave after wave of arrows, supported by stalwart infantry blocks and fleet cavalry. How do you find this, /aos/?
Prince w/ reaver bow, enchanted shield, starblade
Mage - x2? I have several available
5 Ellyrian Reavers x 2
2 Repeater bolt throwers
2x 10 Sea guard
10 swordmasters
Anointed on flamespyre phoenix

I can also add another bolt thrower, more swordmasters, a griffon prince and more princes.

So I got around to working on my Forgesworn Eternals again. This time I figured out what I wanted to do with the Prosecutors. So here they are. I did a few things in their conversion:

>Removed ribbons that held them up. Was never a fan of the loosely hanging ribbons
>Replaced the hammer heads with dwarven axe heads from the Longbeards kit
>Shortened the wingspans, but beefed them up with some spare shields and axe heads.
>Put dragon head thing on backs, to act as secondary thrusters.
>Replaced heads with Irondrake heads, and stuck axe heads on their crests for aesthetic.

Shortening the wingspan I am especially proud of. It reduces their footprint out of the COMPLETELY UNWIELDY zone and into 'workable' while still keeping the angelic winged look. Doing so though removed the little parts that fit into the back, so I just pinned them on instead. Having a smaller wingspan also makes them a bit easier to transport.

I am working on the sixth and final prosecutor, but I am waiting on the axe head bits for his hand weapons to come in the mail. These are all made from just the starter set prosecutors.

Eh, looking over Tamurkhan again recently showed me how nice Fantasy's lore could be.

Game wise I can't really say because I've played neither and they both have mechanics I'd probably call interesting. Fantasy had an army infrastructure in place, but said infrastructure also made it a pain in the ass to get in to.

>This squadron of Gyrocopters (and a Gyrobomber) are known as the Aleseekers, a flotilla of skyborne scouts who range far ahead of the armies of the Lord of Ale, a duardin king who craves the lost treasures of his race. The thudding echo of the Aleseekers’ rotor blades has thundered across the skies of the Mortal Realms for generations as steadfast pilots seek that which their ancestors so bitterly lost. Though a single quest guides them, the armies of the Lord of Ale often put aside their goal for long enough to do battle against the legions of the Dark Gods and other servants of evil. Then, like wrathful heroes, the Aleseekers descend from above, blasting the enemy with bomb, gun and steam cannon in their righteous fury.

King of Ale?
Aleseekers?

I know AoS is a bit zany in the naming department but this is just too much. I am already indifferent to the Duadrin/Dwarfs, this might cause me to ignore Duadrin releases out of principle.

I hope whoever writes the Aelf stuff has some naming sense.

/tg/ - broville of the internet
>>
When I was in work earlier, I got to thinking how I am going to paint my Dwarf Longbeards when I assemble them, since in my paint scheme, the holds professional standing Army, and ONLY the standing army (So Ironbreaker,s and most probably hammerers), have blue armour.
Since I figured longbeards would be more like an experienced militia than professional soldiers, I didn't know how to paint them without them looking way to different to the rest. Then it hit me.

I shall mould them after a bad joke. Their armour shall consist of the most vibrant gold in the hold. They shall literally be the Golden Oldies.

Just played my first game pitting my Stormcast Eternals against my friend's Chaos Undivided group.

I was basically running the starter box of Eternal's minus the Lord Celestant and adding the Knight Heraldor.

My friend was running the Blood Warriors, Bloodsecrator and Bloodreavers from the box, but added on Gutrot Spume and a Skaven Grey Seer.

Gutrot is a nasty motherfucker and mulched most everything I sent at him.

Ended up drawing because my buddy wanted to play to the man and I said I wasn't going anywhere near Gutrot and was gonna keep throwing hammers at him with my Prosecutors 'til he went away.

You either had a lot of flame cannons, or an engineer and a bunch of lucky rolls to take out his 20 wounds in two turns like holy shit.

>>44250844

Good job dude, they're fantastic models. Well, I'd recommend maybe another box of Blightkings, than a Lord of Plagues. After that, since the Rotbringers don't have a large range yet, I'd recommend going for Chaos Daemons. Plague Bearers, Great Unclean Ones, and Nurglings are all fantastic models too, with great rules. GUOs are one of the hardest things in AoS to kill.

Or, you can go with Tamurkhan's horde from FW, which gives you access to amazing things like Bile Trolls and Plague Ogres.

Have fun and keep us posted!

Three Flame Cannons and an Engineer.

Full army lists were

>10 slayers
>1 dragon slayer
>3 flame canons
>Engineer

>Archaon
>3 Varangard
>15 Gors
>1 Bray Shaman

I went full tilt and douse Archaon in flames, while the Slayers and Dragon slayer marched like fuck up the board.

It was a basic "Hold the middle three objectives" game idea and he pretty much lost all his momentum when he Lost Archaon to the fire damage and then the varangard to the slayers.

His Gors and Bray Shaman spent most of their time trying to contest objectives as far away from the Slayers as possible because I lucked out and basically had

>There was a throb in her temple, a flex in the penumbral skein, and a section of the boundary wall appeared to turn semi-molten and bulge as though pushed at from the other side. A wave of starlight breached the weakened barrier and a hulking saurian warrior, clad in bone and silver plate and wielding a feathered spear, stepped through.

>The wall sealed seamlessly behind it in a snap of interlocking brass. At the same moment, a cold-blooded consciousness pressed its way into hers. There were no words, just pictures and sensations, a string of hieroglyphs etched in brilliant, brilliant pain into her mind. She saw searing light, tiered ziggurats of gold peopled by feathered priests, their servants, and their warrior cohorts. She felt isolation. Abandonment. Silent suffering. A final icon appeared. He smashed into the Astrosanct, the ancient apparatus buckling under his enormous mass and pinning him in place. Eclipse gave a roar of frustration, and the other saurus echoed it. >>
>>44298073
it's not something actually new, being the lost children of the old ones has always been part of the culture of the lizardmen, emphasys on lost.
here we simply see a slaaneshi sensing the lizard being conscious of this abandonement and believing it is comparable to her angsty feelings for the disappearance of slaanesh.
it doesn't mean the lizard is conscious of the abandonment with resentment rather than cold aknowledgment and a bit of grief for their maybe dead godly masters.

>>44298357
not all magical entities have the same nature of chaos daemons.
>>
>>44298545
The Slann should be the ones manifesting emotions. The Sarus has no business having emotions.
>>
>>44298561
In Oldhammer (Ur-hammer?) they were cold-blooded and slow to react to psychology, not immune to psychology. They could still feel fear, and still feel despair (causing them to flee). Also:
>Although his temple-city was in ruins, Kroq-Gar and the surviving army fought their way out, buoyed by their own rage and the last blessings of their Mage-Priests.
>by their own rage

Saurus have emotions.
>>
>>44298561
the saurus are manifestations of the slann now, though.

but I'd argue about living saurus being able to have simple emotions too: an emotion is just the result of the rationalization of information and the situation at hand that suggests an action, nothing the lizard are incapable of doing; being dominated by these emotions, letting them override determination and purpose, feeding daemons, is another thing entirely and we've never seen it being applied to the lizards in relevant ways, anyway.

I've been reading over a lot of the fluff for AOS lately. I've noticed that the Beastmen have been mentioned as an opponent of the chaos forces seemingly as often as any of the other forces.

I always wanted them to be more a force representative of the unbridled violence of nature, more than just Chaos cannon fodder. Sort of a cross between Sylvaneth and Orruks, an opposed force to civilization and progress.

In the old fluff I've read they once were the dominant faction in the Old World's woodlands, having a sort of loose confederation of sorts. Then with the coming of Dwarves, Elves and eventually men, they went into decline. They are forever incensed of this encroachment into the natural world and constantly strive to tear down civilizations and return the world to a state of primitive barbarism where might makes right and only the fit survive the wilds. I guess Chaos happened at some point? They are also described as the true children of Chaos so who knows. Maybe that description was at one point representative of true chaos of the natural kind instead of the actual Chaos Gods themselves.

Perhaps with the shattering of the world that was, large numbers of Beastmen now operate independently of Chaos' influence. Just a bunch of angry furries trying to ruin everybody else's shit lol. For now, I think that's how I'll imagine them.
>>
>>44303501
>I've been reading over a lot of the fluff for AOS lately. I've noticed that the Beastmen have been mentioned as an opponent of the chaos forces seemingly as often as any of the other forces.

You mean like every Chaos force out there in the Realms? It's not something unique to the beastmen. Chaos infights a lot. They did it for the majority of the Age of Chaos. I think some anons in their stupidity are just blind to this. They see something they like in Chaos and then they want to remove it from Chaos. Fuckers.

>They are also described as the true children of Chaos so who knows. Maybe that description was at one point representative of true chaos of the natural kind instead of the actual Chaos Gods themselves.

They are children of Chaos because they wholly belong to Chaos. Unlike humans who have to pledge their souls and surrender their freewill to Chaos, the Beastmen have no freewill in what they do. From the day they are born their souls belong to Chaos. They are compelled to serve the Chaos Gods by instinct. They can be nothing else.

All of this is described in clear detail in the Beastmen army rulebooks where it's shown they hate human worshippers of Chaos out of jealously and bitterness because the Beastmen whom souls already belong to Chaos are ignored by the gods.

Seriously, just stop.

>>44303651

No need to be a dick about it. I'm not a chaosfag so I don't already know all their lore. I continued to read about them, and you are in fact correct.

So I will revise what I have said. While acknowledging what the Beastmen fluff actually says about their origin and nature, the idea of a force dedicated to the return of the world to its natural and feral state appeals to me. Though the Sylvaneth do represent the natural world and the seasons and such, I don't really see them as opposed to civilization as an ideal or concept. They're goody fufu nature.

The Beastmen directly oppose civilization, despite not being natural themselves, and seek to return mankind to a primitive state where they are forced to fend for themselves as a part of the natural world and reenter the food chain. I like that aspect of them whether "cause Chaos" or not. And I would like to see them play a larger role in the goings on of the AOS storyscape than as speed bumps for other factions as they move towards "real threats".

My pages look like this.
>>

you missed a bit m8.
>to happen TO DINOSAURS.

to imply that the death of warhammer fantasy is the best thing to happen to warhammer fantasy is fucking stupid.

also
>implying chickens taste better than dinosaurs.
>implying dinosauroid sapience wasn't a path.

you're a sick and mad pleb.

Thanks. Got it!

For the holidays I hope to play with a variety of people in the different organized campaigns.

What is the most up to date balanced point list with the new Archaon stuff?

Early rumour, new "start collection" boxes are coming up, along with some more spray cans.

>Start collecting!
>That soon after christmas

Maybe they think some people take on a new project for the new year. It happens in other hobbies.

New factions names!

Malignants: I pretty much I assumed these guys would be called Nighthaunts.
Greenskinz: Much better faction name than Orcs&Goblins...
>>
>>44307743
>Skitarii
>Tech Priest Dominus

what, I get that Skitarii have no HQ but you could at least give them Ruststalkers
>>
>>44307946
Except the Greenskinz are just an Orruk Clan. The other 2 orruk clans are Bonesplittaz (savage orcs), and Ironjawz (Black orcs).

For the Grots it's Gitmob (regular goblins), Moonclan (night goblins), and Spiderfang (forest goblins)

I would imagine eventually each clan gets their own 'start collecting!' box set. It makes sense these could come after christmas because a lot of hobbyists have a bunch of christmas cash from parents/grandparents to spend on thigs. I generally do. Most people don't feel comfortable buying stuff for my hobbies, so I just get cash.

Good. Let the abomination die. Haven't bought anything from GW since June and I've spent over $1000 on ebay/chinaman

Never bought recasts before that, spent like twice the amount of that on GW/Independent stockists a year beforehand, never doing the same mistake again

>Old hammer isn't coming back.

this is sadly true. however, AoS is already dead
>>
>>44307727
>>44307743
Welp, if these are true, these are actually pretty good deals, and GW is giving us the old school box sets.

The Greenskinz one values at $118 USD, and they're selling for $85. That's actually pretty good.
>>
>>44308253
And they're going to come with round bases instead of squares, no less. So you can count that value in there if you want.
>>
>>44308253

some of them are even more crazy actually. for instance, just the carnosaur is $85 in the lizardmen box, you get the saurus + coc for free

>>44308274

yeah, count the cost of square bases into the price too, as you will have to buy them to replace the inferior round bases
>>
>>44308313
Yeah that's pretty sweet. I would have only expected them to do maybe a couple of the finecast heroes or something, but the carnosaur is a steal of a deal.
>>
>>44308313
>you get the saurus for free
Cold one knights and basic saurus are both kind of shit though. Former because of the models, latter because of the rules.
