Both Dark Angels and Grey Knights are real and pure chapters though, not horrible mutants that refuse to acknowlege their own flaws.
As a chapter the wolves are essentially sterile, no new chapters period, the Grey Knight's every actions save countless worlds and the Dark Angels are on the path to redemption while smashing every evil thing in their path.

See there is your autism, they are dealing with their own shit while also being one of the best and most revered chapters in the Imperium. They and their successors are all incredible successes and are able to handle their shit while continuing to protect mankind. Hell not even the Ultramarines can walk into the high lords, demand a new successor and actually get it like the dark angels. The get all the shit done, and they do it basically at legion strength with the ways the unforgiving function.
They are a rock solid chapter that is all but perfect except for the fallen, who they are for the most part succeeding at finding, it just takes a while.
If a few Black Templar had to die to keep their efficiency engine moving then easy sacrifice, there are always more templar.
