What's some good mood-music for Necromunda?

Also, what's your favorite house/faction for a gang?

> using mood music in an RPG

How does it feel to be a shitty DM?

Seriously, I have seen mood music used seven times over my years of playing RPGs, and it has only been effective ONCE by someone who was a good DM anyway.

Either you play music that your players don't like and it pisses them off, or you time it shittily, or it's playing out of your shitty laptop speakers that you use at the table as an excuse to not be away from technology for more than five goddamn seconds to play a roleplaying game.

Music in RPGs is just terrible. That's why 90% of groups don't use it.

Necromunda is an oldschool tabletop skirmish game (though it does have a few RPG elements), and I was thinking of just having it play at low volume in the background. The standard heroic/glorious-charge type stuff doesn't seem to really be all that in-tone for Necromunda since your gangs are essentially scum bickering over scraps.

((On a completerly unrelated note, I've had background music work pretty well a few times in games I've run (I got positive comments on it from players afterwards), but it generally has to be used in moderation and you have to have set up the playlist to provide enough of the right tempo/theming for each scene/encounter you are using it during.))

Instrumental psych/stoner doom? Just big, fat, fuzzy, chunky riffs? Something like Earthless or Belzebong or Colour Haze or something?

It's not that I don't know what to play (I was actually thinking of having a heavy mix of some industrial ambient metal, with possibly some Glitch Mob and Perturbator thrown in the mix), it's just that every time I ask /tg/ for music recommendations, I always end up finding new and interesting things. Sometimes they might not be the tone I'm looking for, but they are usually interesting and usable for something or other.

I'm personally a fan of Orlock, although I kind of dig all the Great Houses. Most of the Outlanders are okay, I guess, although I find the Redemptionists a bit griefy, and I have a hateboner for Scalies. Seriously, why don't you STAY. THE. FUCK. DEAD.

Pic related is a heavy stubber dude I just finished.

Depends on the houses you are playing

Van Saar/Delaque would have a more cyberpunk/neo-80s/vaporwave hard on synthesizers soundtrack

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnNLodiKKyc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8gT7_UkP-w

Orlocks would enjoy more the Dad Rock/Dad Metal even maybe some Country&Hillbilly styles

Escher and Goliath need some Industrial/Punk/Gangster rap.

However, if you really want to get the 40k vibe you need to look for rare shit like White Noise mixed with Gregorian chant and Hakas to get the right "This thing is so modern my brain melts when I listen to it". That's why I love Death Wing trailer. Is not the average blatant latin choir we are used to listen in 40k vidya. Is mariachi mixed with rap. For literally monks in space. You cannot even imagine how music will sound 38000 years in the future.
