Hey, /tg/. I've recently become interested in DMing. I've run a few D&D sessions, and they went pretty well, but I'm looking for something a little more simple, preferably that works well with 1 or 2 players. I want to start with less rules and more roleplay and fun, so I can get into the swing of things. Any DM tips also welcome.
OP here. Mutants and Masterminds stood out to me. I only have 1 or 2 players, and right now I mostly just want to get more experience and have some fun. Eventually I want to run CoC or similar, but I would like to be a bit more adept at being DM before that.

Yeah, you want to go with D6, and maybe even Minisix to cut down on things even more. It's incredibly easy to do basic character/NPC resolution and mod the rules as you see fit.
The one issue is that the core books are bad at explaining any of the rules, but there is a pretty sizable community to help with the little confusions (like combat and timing).

Wait, if the dc for a spell is 10+mind+lvl, and the bonus is mind+lvl, wouldn't that make the dc 10 always? Or is it the spell level?

Savage Worlds. The system is designed to be fast and absolute minimal prep for the GM. It's also incredibly easy to build your own setting for and there are tons of official, licensed and fan settings available. It runs just about anything.
