They do completely different things, origins Nissa secures a land drop and late game is card advantage machine with a game winning ult. The nonbasics in general aren't the problem. It's the fetchlands and shocklands that break the fucking game. With one of any fetchland you can go grab a shockland of whatever two colors of mana you need, on turn one, and still play your one-drop. If you need it, a second fetland one will get you access to a third or fourth color, or just more of the two colors you need, and you won't even notice the color pie for the rest of the game. Obviously they have to be printed exclusively at rare, otherwise they'd ruin limited play. Can't reprint them at low rarity even in some kind of supplement, because that'd fuck up the precious secondary market...

I remember the hype before Avcyn Restored, with everyone expecting Avacyn to be WWB, or some other variation on a Black Angel. Then it turns out she's mono-White, but at least we have the powerpuff girls in R/G/U. They kind of made up for it, I guess.

I'm pretty sure post-mending Sorin is far weaker than his creation, based on the fact that no Sorin planeswalker card can get rid of Avacyn (except by forcing the opponent to sac a creature and getting lucky) while Avacyn can one-shot any Sorin planeswalker card even after a couple turns. Going to take a stab at writing this. I have a lore question, if anyone can answer it. What is Sigarda, Gisela, and Bruna's relation to Avacyn? Were they created alongside her? Did she create them? Were they created the same way "normal" angels are created and Avacyn is just their boss? Are they actually connected at all? Or was it never explained? If I'm going to have one angel I may as well involve the full set.

Angels are all constructs either directly made or they pop into existence based on faith. If a church got enough followers and all believed that jews should be killed an angel would fart into existence based on that ideal.
The lesser angels were created from Avacyns church gaining power and followers and each represent a different aspect of their faith.

It's certainly not awful. It's exactly the kind of finisher a control deck wants in a mirror match. It says "Wrath me or die" to the opponent, and then you just counter thier wrath. Against an opponent without Wraths (like every aggro/midrange player), if you haven't won by the time they drop it you're boned.
