Your opponent cracks her knuckles, a confident smirk on her face as she takes her stance. "Hope you're ready." She then bolts at you, throwing a hard punch directed at your face. You easily manage to block it; it's clear she's just going for a warm-up at this point. You counter with a palm strike directed at her jaw, her free hand blocking it. She then attempts to follow through with a knee strike to your gut, your attempted palm strike flowing from her block and catching her knee, with you pushing back and getting some distance.
"And we start off with a bang, folks! These ladies are putting on quite a show, neither giving the other an opportunity to land a solid hit."
Sugil does a little stretch, then, while you can't quite sense it, seems to be building up Ki slowly. "Not bad, not bad, but let's kick this up a notch!"

The instant you've transformed, Sugil bolts at you with tremendous speed, a Ki attack building up in her palms. "THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!"
A flash of foresight lets you know just what to do. You wait until the last minute to dodge, ducking under her as she tried to fire it point blank and landing a hard uppercut to her gut. Surprised by the sudden pain, Sugil staggers back, trying to recover, only to be met with a hard kick to the side of her head. You follow through with that with Tien's Machinegun Punch, unleashing hell on your opponent. You finish it off with a Wolf Fang Fist, knocking her to the ground hard.
Sugil pushes herself up, a manic grin on her face. That did a lot of damage, but she's not down yet. "Yes... come on, show me your best, Maple!"

I liked Super Human Quest but the direction he was going with that felt like it was ending anyway.

We could do a combo of these. Like form Spirit bits, have them zoom toward her but not actually attack; they'll just do that to disorient her or bait her into trying to smack one of them away. Then when she counterattacks, we TK dodge out of the way, then Clothes Beam really heavy clothes on one of her limbs to severely unbalance her, then we kick her out of bounds or follow it up with a brutal counter.

Do you mean for magical attacks like fireballs and stuff? Or for things like illusions and mind-affecting effects and paralyzation?
I think Ki is pretty much an omni-defensive measure for bodily defenses as far as the former goes, but I'm not sure how it would affect "status effects". It's probably good for stuff like poison and such, but being frozen or shocked or psychically assaulted might be a different matter entirely.

All right, time to show her what you're REALLY capable of! As she moves towards you, you hold her back with the Spirit Bits, just long enough for... "KAIO-KEN!" She finally manages to get into range and lands a kick to your side... but it's not enough to seriously hurt you. Okay, you've got a good idea on how strong she is now. And she has a good idea on how strong you are, too. You return the favor, landing a hard kick to her side, and then use your superior speed to unleash hell on your opponent. You almost mimic what she used against Krillin, attacking her hard, not letting her get a chance to defend, much less counter, and keeping her pinned where she is with the Spirit Bits. Right as the Kaio-ken is about to fade, you land one last, strong hit on her, building Ki up into your fist and slamming it into her chest with a shout of "HALLOWED RUSH!"
Sugil slams down on the ground, in clear pain, and stays there long enough for the Announcer guy to start the count. "This may be it, folks! Sugil put on a nice display, but Maple might just have claimed victory here!"

Okay. Gotta do this right. You bring some Spirit Bits to you to form a Shield and give a shout of "Samma Kammanta!" You feel your stamina recover, and right on the eight count you see what Sugil was planning: Ki was subtly building up into her fist.
She immediately bolts at you, trying to avoid the Spirit Bits, jumping into the air and screaming out "RYUKEN!" As you see the subtle image of a Dragon, made of Ki, appear around her fist, it slams into the Shield... but while it breaks through, most of the attack is tanked by it.
You catch her fist, smirking. "Kaio-ken." You then, with all your might, fling Sugil out of the ring, Spirit Bits blasting at her and stunning her just long enough for you to deliver the finishing blow, striking her in the back with the Hallowed Rush with a roar of "MAPLE SMASH!" The sheer power of the attack forces her to hit the ground. You flip yourself back into the ring and pose.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Maple has done it! Sugil is out of bounds! Let's all give the victor a big round of applause, as tomorrow she'll be in the semifinals!"
You hear the cheering all around you, spotting Goku with the biggest, goofiest grin on his face, while your opponent's allies are... actually clapping for you, though the two of them seem very surprised.

"Hah, not out of any dislike of Pilaf, but more out of what that will make your group do. I believe they've been blunt about this."

You and Goku both sigh and focus your attention back to the match as it begins. Acer starts off at a disadvantage, Tien starting up the Four Witches and pummeling him with a Machinegun Punch, though quickly your brother manages to get off an Explosive Wave and knock Tien off-balance. He follows through with an amazing combination, starting with his Burning Wolf Fang Fist with the Spirit Ball forcing Tien into it, and following that through by jumping up and actually grabbing the Spirit Ball in his hands, charging a Kamehameha, and unleashing an extremely strong blast downwards at his foe. Tien isn't going to let that up, though, and quickly stands and tries to fire a Dodonpa... only to hit Acer's afterimage and find himself in sudden pain, as Acer slams his elbow into the man's chest.
You hear Launch and Tien's students shout encouragement to him, Chi-chi yelling cheers towards her husband. The fighters get some distance, then the both of them use the Raio-Ten. It's not over yet...

He seems to be using his smaller frame to his advantage, using what he can to dodge Tien's attacks, and probably keeping his Foresight as focused as he can. A strong but blocked hit from Tien sends him back, Acer still on defense. Tien smirks. "I guess I really do need to pull out all my tricks this time... KAIO-KEN!"
As the blazing red aura surrounds Tien... your brother lets out a friendly laugh. "H-hah... well, it's do or die time... I haven't had as much practice with this, Tien, but don't think that means you can go easy on me!"
Chi-chi lets out a little gasp of surprise. "He... Acer are you crazy!?"

He and Tien bolt at each other once more, the sheer force of their blows like thunder as they trade them... and your brother with still just that very slight edge. Tien looks like he's getting desperate. He brings out the Spirit Bits, only for Acer to respond with his Spirit Ball knocking them out of the way. Brobro then lands a powerful axe kick to Tien's shoulder, sending him to the ground, and bolts upwards. You see Ki build up around his hand... and then flame. Just like Pantea. Acer bolts back down to the ground, a boost from a ring of flame coming from his back. He grabs the staggered Tien and with a roar pushes him into the wall outside the ring, a small explosion pushing your brother back. Acer lands stylishly back in the ring as his aura fades, grinning wide at his wife.
"Spectacular, folks! You saw it all here, Tien is out of bounds! Acer will face his sister in the semi-finals tomorrow!"
Your brother is about to try and help Tien up, but the triclops has already managed to stand, and offers a handshake and congratulations to Acer.

As the match starts, Chi-chi isn't pulling any punches. She goes at Aza already in the Raio-Ten, and manages to get a few solid hits in. But as soon as Aza recovers, he's countering her strikes easily, trading blows with her. And it's clear that he has an edge in this. You cheer wildly for your friend. "Come on Chi-chi! Chi-chi tries to have her Spirit Bits converge on him... but suddenly they stop too. Aza smiles. "Quite a trick you have there. Maple's fun little technique, based on Yamcha's Spirit Ball, correct? Hah, inspired by that robot show..." They then seem to dance around him, doing little spins. Wait... wait what? Is he... did he just take control of them?! "Haha, very clever... mind if I try them out for a spin?"

You bite your lower lip gently. Right as you're about to tell her, Aza delivers a knockout blow to Chi-chi. Your friend goes down for the 10 count, Acer rushing to her. You see Aza lock eyes with you. Telepathically he tells you, 'Do not worry, she is merely unconscious. I congratulate you on defeating my comrades...' He then looks directly at Goku. 'Ah, but now the real test begins.'
