I've seen it. They just keep hanging out with their younger high school friends and keep trying to make friends with the younger people at the parties. It's not so weird when you're doing it a year or two after you graduate, because some of those people you knew from clubs are still in high school.
It gets weird/creepy when you're 25 and the only person you know is your kid brother who's now a senior.

On a side not, this threads are ok and any that says otherwise because is "overdone/tired subject" is just two steps on the newfag stair over you.
When you get to the top you'll realize that new people has to start somewhere, and that somewhere is common plain overdone-for-everyone-else archetypes and even if YOU get tired of, say, tavern openings in TTRPG, a newcomer may find it interesting.

This is basically the problem with elves in D&D, yes. They're based on elves that actually ARE inherently better and more capable than humans, and that's reflected in their fluff, except they're then also mechanically balanced against humans, which means the whole point is them not being any better or worse than humans.
It also doesn't help that the best race in 3.x onward, mechanically-speaking, WAS humans, which means the only reason to weaken your character by playing an elf was for fluff reasons.
Elf fluff made a lot more sense back in the days of Basic D&D when Elf was still a class and had stat minimums. You actually DID have to be better than the average human to be an elf at all.
