TFW you're too poor for the real deck you want so you toss this piece of shit together in the mean time.
>>
>>44110987
It's all good anon, at least you've put something together. There's no rush to completing a deck, enjoy the ride

>>44109989
I'm playing goblins, as always (though I have a bunch of other decks I like to play in non-competitive events and practice)

Meta is green white durdle town. One shardless, one or two snt, reanimator sometimes, jund and junk, food chain, couple of burn, 2-3 elves, 2-3 d&t, grixis stuff, maybe one or two delver decks (super underplayed here), couple of miracles, couple of shitty enchantress, storm, mud, and so on

It's pretty diverse, can't complain

Honestly looks pretty standard dragon stompy. Am I actually missing something secret?

I've sadly created the meta of counter-meta in my area. It's gone full circle.

>>
>>44118623
In legacy there are Very few decks that run many basics. The ones that do get wrecked by trinisphere. (Unless they have an opening aether vial)
>>
My meta is mostly combo, specifically dredge, elves and storm variants.

What is the deck that has the most even matchups across the board? At least with the worst matchup being 45%'s
>>
>>44120646
Monored, UR delver, elves, death and taxes, miracles
>>
>>44120751
Read? Most of those decks get wrecked by trinisphere. And delver for example doesn't run a ton of basics.
>>
>>44120854

Board tech in delver against DnT
>>
i just started legacy and am playing RB goblins. My meta is pretty weak because it just started so everyone is going very meta with their decks and sideboards. what should i use as a sideboard. there is elves, belcher,DnT, and 12 post deck floating about.
>>
>>44128476
Elves, belcher and dnt are soft to board wipes. Try electrickery, marsh casualties or something you can dodge. Blood moon/magus is pretty good against 12 post. If there are a lot of belcher players you could try the white splash for ethersworn canonist/thalia or a pile of eidolons/pyrostatic pillars
>>
>>44128476
Also thoughtseize/cabal therapy or hymn if your mana is good can pick belcher apart. The best board tech is "be on the play"

>>
>>44129558
Thalia is the best goblin.
>>
>>44129735
Second this. It literally makes DnT a very bad stoneblade deck.
>>
What's an extra wincon for Lands that I can pack in the sideboard and bring in game 2 against decks that are likely to use Surgical?

I was thinking about Dragonmaster Outcast but something a bit more resilient would be better.
>>
>>44131781
If you want to be old school go for mishras factory beats. The more efficient answer is to play around it, more tranquil thickets, or crucible of worlds and a ghost quarter as a backup loam
>>
>>44131781
You could throw in more mountains and see if you can use koth as a win con
>>
>>44132184
Can't really go there since it would mess up the Punishing Fires
>>
>>44132254
If you cut the basics for more taigas or basic mountains, or throw some in the board it might not
>>
>>44131532
I want to see if you can throw a DnT list together that maximizes the prison elements. That seems like the decks real strong point.
>>
>>44132542
Rough list:

4x aether vial
4x mother of runes
4x thalia
4x vryn Wingmare
4x stoneforge
4x thorn of amethyst
4x enlightened tutor
1x crucible of worlds
1x smokestack
1x trinisphere
4x wasteland
4x rishadan port
Some large amount of land

A lot of obvious nombos, but it could be a fun take on mono white stax
>>
>>44132671
Also all of the sol lands and mox diamonds?
>>
does anyone here play high tide?
>>
>>44132919
Is that the same as solidarity?
>>
>>44132988
it uses high tide and time spiral to make a lot of mana and draw cards so that you can blue sun zenith them to death.
>>
>>44133020
I think that's the same. I've played it with brainfreeze to mill them, so you only need to blue sun for 20 or whatever. Do you run frantic search?
>>
>>44133133
i think it is a one of in the deck
>>
Ah, I'm about to head out to play in a small local tournament.

I play Death and Taxes. My meta depends on where I am. In my area it's mostly omnitell/sneak and show or burn stuff.

Around the Toronto area it seems to be mostly different Delver decks, death and taxes, and Miracles.

What do you guys think about the new Stoneforge promo?

Also I'm trying out Gidion in my sideboard for any of those really grindy matches. Going to see how it goes.
>>
>>44133347
Im hoping that it heralds the unbanning of stoneforge. So I trade all of mine for blue and black cards.

Gideon is interesting, can you get to mana? How does he play with wingmare/thalia?
>>
Would running a 2 of mana tithe in death and taxes be a bad idea?

Because I kind of want to try it.

Also, am I the only person in Legacy that loves my mainboard Surgical Extractions?
>>

That's good against non-deathrite delver decks, but I can't see it being terribly relevant against shardless, miracles, elves, DnT etc

That's Vintage. The car is Legacy.
>>
>>44133579
I don't think they will unban stoneforge.

Gideon is for the long grindy match ups which have lots of removal and board wipes so stuff with liliana or Miracles.
Most people that I play against take FoW out against me so it's not that hard to slam down and like I said most of the matches I bring him in are ones that they grind my out in.
>>
>>44141716
I think its pretty good in those match ups then, BUG and Miracles are not going to have a good answer to a non-creature permanent with CMC 4. How many do you run? Is it a token generator or do you pump out an emblem?
>>
>>44142342
Well Miracles does have Council's Judgement.

I just make tokens with him. Against Miracles, if they tap out completely I do use his +1 ability. Never had a situation that I had to use his emblem. Although he is still new and haven't been able to test play completely with him. But for the most part all my matches that I can think of bringing him in I feel that making another creature would be the best option.
>>
>>44133579
I can't remember who it was, but a guy from Wizards once said that there's 3 cards in Modern that will NEVER be unbanned. Those cards were Green Sun, Jace, and Stoneforge.

UR? Don't you mean UB?
FoW is really good for protecting your combo but the problem with it is that it costs you your card advantage.

But if you just can't get the FoW you could always replace it with some more discard spells and just play more proactive instead of reactive. The benefits to that is that you'll keep your card advantage the downside to it is if you're facing quick combos or if your opponent top decks their answer you pretty much lose.

Red goblin go fuck yourself deck, fast hard as nails and can fuck anybody in 3 turns.
White soldier token deck
Because Sometimes you want white goblins
White/green healing defender deck

Black graverobber deck, because. I dont. Need. Friends.

>>
>>44149901
Only against time warp lockout decks.

And anything new.

And anyone with real money to put into decks.

Basically anything since eldrazi..

But anything before that is fair game. Never lost with the graverobber deck. Or token. Goblin was my first deck that I built out of 5 cent single commons and slowly made better.
And nobody plays against my white green because matches take too long.

Oh i also have a grixis deck which needs 5 mana to even start playing creatures. Which usually managed to win. Unless they burned me down before i could start playing cards
>>
>>44149867
Yes, lack of sleep will do that, sorry.
I've tried playtesting a bigger discard package, by running 3x Thoughtseize, 3x Duress instead of Force of Will, but found that there are a lot of decks where the card disadvantage of FoW doesn"t weigh up to the advantage of being able to answer their key card/main hate.

That's why I believe there's no real alternative to running four Forces. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I end up losing so much more w/o Force in my deck than with it.

>>44153448
I remember when my friend and I wanted to get into Legacy, we did the math and found that if we both just stopped drafting for a year and traded all of our cards we don't use we could make viable legacy decks.

So we did that, traded everything upwards, probably spent like 300 of my own money on some cards but had about 3-4 legacy decks.

Then I picked the deck I enjoyed the most and traded up for vintage. That was of course before the massive spike in price after GP NJ.
