So the other /tg/ brought up an interesting concept called Memepunk, and I was hoping you guys could expand on it, since they're pretty slow compared to you guys. Besides, /tg/ gets shit done.

Here are the fleshed out concepts so far:
>Memepunk (or Hipsterpunk). The post-cyberpunks won, but at the cost of banality. The highest of tech is now available to the common man, but instead of making the world whole it made it a whole bunch of selfish dicks. Everyone claims to think they know what is best for the world and give it their all to mould the world into their point of view, trampling over anyone thinking differently with all methods available. The Internet is even faster than before, demanding everyone to keep up or get outdated at a horrifying speed. Microblogging and social media is where it's at, and these websites alongside online media conglomerates control the status quo and the thought of the public.
>Indie companies appear, rise in fame and riches, then just as suddenly collapse as people move on to the next new thing
>Shadowrunners now undermined by meme-loving fucks who think Shadowrunning is fun and cool and awesome and not something most people do just to survive in the world
>This results in whatever megacorps can still catch up with the latest internet references to pander to the new wave of "Shadejoggers"
>Memes are quite literally the way of life now, and what were once subtle, comedic in-jokes are now overused and stale "jokes" that once again, undermine the seriousness of those who once used them
>Saying "geeked" is the equivalent of saying "pwn'd", "drek" is as overused as "kek", etc.

That's stupid.

You're stupid.
>>
I'm not seeing the hook.

What does this setting offer to give the players something fun and interesting to do?

It seems like a poorly thought-out joke that someone dragged on for way too long.

>and what were once subtle, comedic in-jokes
top drek
>>

>social media sites have such a grip on some countries that they even change their name to a specific social media website
>this can be played as a subtle, comedic look on certain countries
>Sweden is tumblr (PC)
>UK is Facebook (used to be the big man and still sort of is but is definitely a shadow of its former self)
>USA is Instagram (the big new player in town)
>Canada is MySpace (not relevent)
>China is leddit (they think that they're superior to everyone else)
>Japan is channel 4 (everyone else sees it as the "lol so weird and randumb" country that is really just a bunch of xenophobic gooks"
Idea is still shitty and sounds like an idea for a shitty webcomic. Coooouuuuuld be sorta fun tho

Fuck you, OP. Just spray painting cyberpunk with your own brand doesn't a -punk setting make. Memepunk should be more like this:

>The power of repetition has been discovered in the world
>By repeating power phrases or drawing upon their visual representations, an individual is able to harness the secret powers of the universe
>However, there are those who seek to extinguish this new power from the world
>The moderators, powerful warriors who wield the power of solemn thought in the form of hammers, seek to extinguish this new power that quickly infects their world

Players would play as moderators in the equivalent of a witch hunt as they sensor this mew power which they find disgusting or memesters in what they consider a war for free speech and equality.

Everything is over the top and silly, the art for the setting features ragefaces, large pauldrons, weapons with a dozen nonsensical attachments and overtly sexy costumes on both sexes. This is a midst magic whose components are stupid words like going "AYY LMAO!" to summon beings from other dimensions or the oddly serious "For the ADMIN!" warcry of the mods.

So anti-meme Judge Dredd game?
>>
I would rather have a setting based on that 4chan Flash NCH made almost a decade ago.

kinda, it draws from various sources, the anti-meme characters should be an exaggeration of anything that is considered SERIOUS. So, Judge Dredd's aesthetic works fairly well. But, you can also take it in other directions, like fat policemen with massive hats, tiny slow cars and half eaten donut shaped firearms to represent the inefficient and improperly equipped police force in this new world of memes.

This sounds both retarded and potentially awesome if we could find someone who could handle it.

Real Memepunk was that Filthy Frank homebrew that never went anywhere.
