Magic user, of course.

Paladin is good too.
>>
>>44074294
Doing a little bit of all three so I can support my party members who go all out in any given direction and covering gaps if there isn't a specialist in that area.
>>
>>44074294
Is there a game that balances them better than dragons dogma?
>>
>>44074316
Depends on the setting and how cyberpunky it is.

Also,
>Thief having the least votes
I knew /tg/ had bad taste, but even in this case?
>>
>>44074386
no
>>
>>44074294
>Wizard: Like playing a game with cheat codes. It's fun at first... but then it just becomes retardly boring after the power high wears off and you realize there's no challenge or tension.

>Warrior: Meh... hitting stuff with a sword sucks.

>Thief: Hits stuff with a sword stylishly... also has a ton of ways to tackle situations without resorting to bullshit magic. Ways that require thought and creativity and are generally alot of fun to think about.

Yeah, my vote goes to Thief.
>>
>>44074294
First play through, Warrior. Then Mage. Never thief.
>>
>>44074452
Its a shame. I really should try finishing Bitterblack isles someday.
>>
>>44074505
Thief is only fun for single player though.

In a party, it's like
>wait guys, I can backstab hi- Oh, the warrior already ran up and cut him down.
>locked door? I got thi- Oh, the mage used Knock.
>Fuck this, I'm going to go steal some shit

Then the party wonders why the rogue wanders off on his own.
>>
>>44074505
>thief
>sword
kek
>>
>>44074531
It was more that a thief can use any weapon the warrior can and make it look cooler. I mean, what's wrong with a dashing gentleman rogue with some dueling skill?

I suppose that does kinda exclude larger two-handed things though. I don't think I've ever seen a "rogue" use warhammers or claymores outside of retarded anime settings.
>>
>>44074524
It a lot of fun, and really hard but ton in a fair way. RNG can kill you as well as small spaces with lots of big enemies.

I liked it though, for all the bullshit you slog through, every time you break through to a new room feels like a triumph. And then there is the ending and his great boss theme.
>>
I really don't have a preference.
>>
>>44074564
I know man, I went into it too early though. I spent about a half an hour trying to hurt that gore cyclopes and just never got back to it again.

Ive played a theif and a bard that was built like a tank. Both were quite fun and enjoyable

Mage. I love pure mages who are in it for magic's sake.

Keep in mind that gore cyclopses move from boss to regular enemy deeper into the island.

I remember a room, no more than 20x20 with a foot of water on the ground an no light source. There was a Minotaur in the room.... Or the time times death randomly shows up in front of you... or the dragons out of fucking nowhere.... or the rooms with mages that cast the tornado spell at you, multiple mages and multiple spells. I was at zero hp for a good 45 seconds before the spells wore off and I could hit the ground and die.

They were probably sync casting, possibly the least explained mechanic in any game ever.

Oh please. You say it like we're talking anime or Magical Realm.
>>
>>44074709
Yeah, you can deffinately make the case for all of them, but thief is in my opinion still the class with most chance of edgy kids flocking towards it. Not all thieves are edgy obviously, but when I know from experience that kids/early teens prefer the badass evil assassin guy.
>>

I prefer the jack of all trades with the ''lucky'' feat.
>>
>>44074294

Can I be like a guy who wears heavy armour and a greatsword when going to battle, but prefers to sneak around stabbing cunts with a dagger, never fighting clean?
>>
>>44074762
not all attempts at humour are shitposting.
>>
>>44074789
That's a weird way to spell wizard.
>>
>>44074718
I am going to be honest and say I didn't know that was a thing... Then again I played a ranger and my pawn was a warrior.
>>
>>44074829
Not surprising since I don't think it is ever even mentioned once in the game.
>>
>>44074853
Why even add it then? Whatever, also found an old screenshot I took of my arisen and pawn. I think the game has aged well.
>>
>>44074814
wizards are clearly the nerd class, not the edgy class. There are overlaps, but the distinction is there.

>>44074793
So you're a bard?

>>44074603
ever seen that southpark episode where the kids are playing ninja, they tell Cartman everybody gets one power, and Cartman says his power is to have a lot of powers because he's so awesome and cool?
>>
>>44074882
>Why even add it then?
Because fuck you we are japan thats why.
>>
>>44074883
More like a commoner who picked up some basic feats and is trying to stay alive in a ridiculous world.

But no really read the LN.
The last translated chapter was hilarious.
>>
>>44074294
Depends on the system and setting.
>>
>>44075083
I often think 'depends on the setting' is a valid answer to various way-to-broad questions.
Not this time.
>>
>>44074294
Thief/trickster class reporting. It is the true patrician tactician's class.

Ain't nothing as satisfying as using stealth and your wits to defeat an enemy, knowing you made the most of your sparse resources that aren't any more or less powerful than your enemies' and _still_ coming out on top.

>Stupid, drooling, sword flailing warriors btfo
>Faggot cheater mages btfo
>>
>>44074789
Thief is the least edgy of the three classes. Wizards are the "I'm an edgy necromancer" class and warriors are the "chaotic evil murderhobo is totally a cool character concept" whereas thieves usually aren't as combat focused and if they are it's usually backstab or something else that doesn't reliably dish out damage so edgelords get bored by it.

I love hybrids to much.
Warrior-Mage for the feel of being PROTAGONIST.
Thief-Mage when I'm feeling clever and want to intrigue all the things.
Warrior-Thief for crawling whatever and feeling survivalist.
>>
>>44074294
This is hard

What flavor of warrior? Thuggish brute or well trained blade

What kind of thief? CN annoying "wild card" asshole or smooth operator

What kind of wizard? Master Blaster or Batman
>>
>>44074294
Thieves, with some utility magic. Of course, they aren't usually "thieves", they're just stealthy/skillful.
>>
>>44074554
>I don't think I've ever seen a "rogue" use warhammers
I had a half-orc character in D&D who was a barbarian 1/rogue x, and used a warhammer two-handed
>>
>>44074294
>http://strawpoll.me/6161985
If we're allowed to pick hybrids, I pick all three.

Elf Fighter/Mage/Thief ftw
>>
>>44074882
Half the mechanics in the game were never explained. That's just how japs roll.

Tell me, who was your beloved?

>Elf Fighter/Mage/Thief ftw
Why do you have to just up and be a faggot?
>>
I always lean towards Mage but my ideal class choice is some kind of warrior mage. Like a red mage in final fantasy. I like the versatility of being able to hold my own in combat while still having the ability to cast magic and self heal.
>>
An adventurer who can fight but not sneak or get to the treasure is a pretty crap adventurer and vice versa.
>>
Since that picture is from elder scrolls. Usually thief-esque character. Mage is to easy. Warrior is boring.
>>
>>44074554
>I don't think I've ever seen a "rogue" use warhammers or claymores
My FC assassin used a claymore paired with the first Dueling Feat's stance and some other footwork-oriented abilities.

He was more about finding a way to blend in so he looked like he belonged wherever he was than he was about being unseen altogether.

>>44077612
Because half of 4chan is spoiled bitches.
>>
>>44077612
>Thread asks you to choose one or at least two
>I'll pick all three because I'm a super special snowflake!
Why can't you just play a character that has limits? "Not being particularly good at anything" isn't much of a limit.
>>
>>44077750
It is, actually.

a fighter/mage/thief in 2nd edition was only about 2/3 the level of a single-classed character, and couldn't wear armor while casting or heavy armor while using thief skills. A half/half character was more like 4/5 of a single-classed character. If being 2/3 the level you're expected to be isn't much of a limit, what is? Not to mention that you couldn't optimize your scores for all pursuits at the same time.
>>
>>44074294
Mage, always mage. In any game I ever play that gives me the option, I play mage. I enjoy the struggle of gaining power, going from the weakest to the strongest and the many, varied means of doing so.

Thieves/Rogues are always edgy lone wolf/dashing gentleman thief intolerable faggots and that shit just really, really annoys me. Also, I never got the allure of playing a straight up criminal. Don't like them in real life, doesn't get any better in a fantasy world. Warriors are just...fine, I guess. Just not enough variety for me. But the mage has elemental power, summoning, mind control, buffs, debuffs, all sort and kinds of ways to do anything.
>>
Thief without doubt. Not the edgelord ninja or kleptomanic kind, but an agile and pragmatic combatant with loads of utility skills who always accomplishes his goals as unfairly and stacked to his favour as possible.
>>
I keep saying mage but then I always play warrior, I don't know what's wrong with me.
>>
Anything melee. Fighting from a relatively safe distance defeats the point of fighting
>>
>>44078707
Is the point of fighting to get hurt?
>>
>>44074294
It depends. If the thing I am making this choice for offers one hell of a visceral experience, I pick Warrior (ex. Demons' Souls/Dark Souls/Bloodborne, DnD 4e, etc.)

Otherwise it's Mage due to how many options they often have.
>>
>>44078738
Yes. The everpresent risk and need to stay on your toes makes it fun. Fighting at a distance just isn't as tense
