Your non-halfling character's shoes have worn out, your walking speed has been reduced by 25% and your running speed has been reduced 50%. Every 50 meters you run now incurs you one hit point in damage. This will persist until a new pair of shoes is obtained.

Can I get myself some high heels then?

If you'd like and you can find them.

Alternatively, in our Modern Game

Good work, GM.

Seems logical to me, I mean we all recall the accounts of Battle of Rorke's Drift where Zulu warriors fell dead by the hundreds due to their lack of footwear.

It is a well established fact that an army on the march needs shoes. If it does not have shoes it will suffer damage to it's feet.

She reapplies her magic outfit. first taking the time to loot the gems from the previous before the magic consumes them again.
The question of why she has been in costume for so long that her shoes had to be replaced now needs to be asked. The villains already know her real identity so it's not like she has to keep it hidden. The 'no costume, no fight' truce has been going well enough so far.
>>
Wouldn't be an issue. My character is the son of a cobbler and has a literal bag full of boots. He steals people's boots when he kills them.

Got like 14 pairs of boots on the go here.
>>
They are made from a special technobabble polymer that will outlast her entire family tree.
The laces will fray, the metal rivets will rust but as long as the boots themselves are not burned, cut to ribbons or shot into swiss cheese, they will keep lasting.

They are really good boots.

Honestly, if you're not brought up wearing super padded sneakers, your feet support themselves. You can slowly regain the functionality of your feet by walking and jogging in shoes that minimize support, but it takes a very long and careful training period to make up for a lifetime of coddling. My arches have never been stronger, but my toes still aren't great.
>>
>>44074842
Is this what those foot-glove looking things that some folks like to hike in are about?
>>
>>44074935
Yeah those goofy things brought minimal footwear into the public consciousness, but there are less doofy options now. If you can find some on a deal site, they're pretty nice, but I think they're overpriced for the quality of stitching you get.

>Your non-halfling character's shoes have worn out
How come I wasn't warned prior to this? Wear and tear of clothing and equipment is something anyone would notice, you don't just suddenly lose a pair of shoes, they slowly get battered and fall apart.

I should have been warned with a "You notice holes and wear marks appearing in your shoes, it's obvious that while usable now the stitching will soon wear out and they'll be useless." because if you're going to get simulationist enough to destroy my shoes via wear and tear then you also need to be simulationist enough to describe said shoes descent into uselessness.

I do this all the time, in fact I'm probably gonna do this again today for late night shopping. I hate being in my uniform after work, so I strip down to boxers, walk into K-mart, buy a cheap shirt, pants and thongs, and walk back out.

Costs me like $10 and I'm comfortable for the rest of the evening out.

Your best option is to look for something with a thin and flexible sole without a ton of padding. I used to be a fan of saucony, but I find the toe boxes to be too narrow. That said, their bullets are pretty nice if you remove the foam insole. It's not glued in, but the sole will probably wear out too quickly if you slide your feet at all.

I'm a fan of merrell trail runners, since they have wide toes and a narrow heel, and only a little padding under the ball of the foot with tons of grip, but I usually run on gravel and ice, so that might not be as vital for you. You've gotta try stuff on in person though, since everyone's got different shapes going on. If you can find a shop with a generous return policy, that'll be the best, even if they're a little pricier. You have to run in them before you really know if they work for you.
