Would you ever play an illegal board game?
>>
>>44001301
D&D has been technically illegal in the town I grew up in since 1979. So yes.
>>
>>44001301
What kinds of laws are being broken by this board game?

Dude I'm not to need some examples of "illegal board games" for reference.

Are are we talking pic related? Klux Klux Kandy Land? Throw me a bone here.
>>
>>44001474
You have to use the body parts of a recently sacrificed person in order to effectively play it?
>>
>>44001474

Presumed associations with human sacrifice, cults, and satanism because of "Satanic Panic" Christian mentality and small town politics run entirely by religious fundamentalists.

That or maybe it funds terrorism or something.

>>
Like, I remember there's a variant of chutes and ladders where instead of rolling a die to move, you play Russian roulette with how many spaces you move being how many times you have to pull the trigger.
>>
>>44001301

Chances are, no. Most often, things that are banned aren't great works (though in some cases, yes), and instead banned because of some kind of sensationalism or it deals with subjects that are controversial to some group which has legislative power.

If the game was good? Sure, I might give it a go if it was easily accessible enough. If it sucks? I probably wouldn't bother.

Everyone ITT talking about what makes a board game illegal but I want EXAMPLES damnit
>>
>>44001301
I don't know about "illegal", but I would play some rare/hard to find games.

I don't remeber the name, but there is one game that there is only one copy that floats between muse a or something. It starts by the players breaking a window then you try to move cubes into train cars. The big reveal at the end is that it's about the holocaust.

There is also one game that is supposed to be the best and most influential game for kings of something? People have to make there own boards and pieces and stuff. It's about placing buildings or something. I saw some of a documentary about it but it didn't make sense and they never explained the game so I stopped.

I don't know the name of either of these things so if you could help me out it would be appreciated.

What would a /good/ illegal game look like?

I mean it would be easy to get a game banned by violating sensibilities. But what would get it on the same list as the Anarchist's Cookbook? (Besides including the Anarchist's Cookbook...)

>Mechanics resolved not by rolling dice but picking locks
>Only documentation and forum on hidden service
>Real life Bitcoin stakes
>Fluff uses names and real rumors about politicians and heads of finance and industry
>...

Would you make such a game, /tg/?
>>
>>44004275
It teaches you things that are highly classified by a government or military (Ideally one that is allied to a lot of other states so that it gets banned in as many countries as possible) or things that can really only be used illegally (Such as correct recipes for explosives and chemical weapons) and/or actively requires you to break one or more laws as part of the core game mechanic.
>>
>>44004401
But which laws are ridiculous enough to break? I wouldn't consider the ban on explosives to be one.

Copyright wouldn't make it illegal, just open it to civil litigation.

Including some Snowden leaks could help. But it's a lot and it's hard to make sense of it. Not exactly a game mechanic.
>>
>>44003959
I'd believe it that's all sorts of silly unenforceable and non-enforced laws in the UK thought far older than that.

For example you can kill a Scotsman with a bow in York and be let off for the murder, TECHNICALLY, and either across the country or in one specific part you shouldn't eat pies on a certain day Sunday I think.
>>
>>44003959
>he never lived in the South East United States.
Their are still laws in towns and cities that ban D&D specifically, or anything considered "Morally reprehensible." Just loon at blue laws, I believe they are called.

>Scotsman in York/Welshman in Chester

Nope, no such law. Repealed years ago.

>>44005229
>>44005250

They technically had to have "food for the horse", because cabs started as hansom cabs which were horse-drawn. When cabs became petrol-driven, having a fuel-tank became the modern equivalent. No-one was ever prosecuted for not having hay, and the law was repealed.

Interestingly though, I think the law against cabs carrying someone with any communicable disease (including the common cold) is still on the books.

>>44005260

Citation needed, I'm aware of no such law. Fraudulent Mediums Act, sure, but no law against wichcraft or sorcery in E&W. Maybe in Scotland, but that's a different legal system.

Well, he is a special kind of nut.

When his shed came to the authorities' attention, his mom threw out most of his materials - in the household trash! She was afraid he'd get in trouble...

Killed herself couple of years later. So that was the woman who raised him.

He refused diagnosis after the incident, still does. But when he was caught 8 years ago stealing smoke detectors for their radioactive material (still at it!), his mugshot showed drastic signs of of radiation poisoning.

>The psychosis some people go into at the thought of non-___ people being visible is sad. They'll go to ridiculous lengths to explain how they're being oppressed by seeing homosexuals or whatever their latest grudge is.
As a homosexual myself I can honestly empathize. The ratrace for representation is incredibly cringy at times and there is a difference between not being told that I'm some kind of evil freak and having everywhere go wink wink nudge nudge WE PANDER TO YOU COME BUY OUR SOULLESS PRODUCT.

I can't STAND that shit.
>>
>>44015338
In my perspective I find all the fuss on both sides so strange. People take their ideas on peg and slot interactions really seriously. I don't see what's wrong with why not being picky about what kinds of slot i put my peg into and vice versa, but on the other hand I don't see the need to fight a crusade over it. I think if people want diversity or whatever the way to do it isn't LOOK AT HOW PROGRESSIVE WE ARE BUY OUR SHIT and more 'Hey, we made a game and we and the people who play it are chill, wanna play?'
>>
>>44015338

But at least in the U.S. laws like that would never actually hold up in court. Unless they're 100% unenforced, I'd have trouble believing no one ever got around to challenging laws like this if they were ever even passed.
>>
>>44011235
The owning of slaves was never considered legal in the UK, we just never had a specific law stating that. The Human Rights Act of 1998 changed that.
>>
>>44004100
Looked at the article, looked at her twitter. Looks like a Jewess, and an angry one at that. For all her talk about how 'people who discovered that the people they were shipping were destined to Auschwitz they were immediatley horrified and started subverting the game and breaking the rules etc to save more plastic humans' I doubt that everyone that played the game would be so married between the reality of playing a fucking board game and the alleged horror of discovering you were (according to the author) complicit with the Holocaust.

Its hard enough for me to feel like some kind of industrial capitalist in Monopoly, Power Grid or Ticket to Ride, to try to elicit a base emotion response of tears, horror or hatred. Depite what it may try to represent its still a fucking game, beyond its pretentions. Its plastic, cards and dice and people huddled around a table, not the attempted genocide of a people despite what the game deisgner may claim.

I don't know what I'm rambling about, I'm drunk, but fuck that kike, and her game.
>>
>>44015609
Consider the setting. People are shown this /unique/ game by the author in some kind of hip cultural society situation. She's looking at you turning the card over that says Auschwitz. There's a lot of pressure, and it isn't because the game has a gritty scenario. It's a cheap version of No John You Are The Monsters. But put into a context completely devoid of taste or decency. She's basically tricking people into spending an hour telling her how special she is for what her parents had to go through. Bonus points if you cry.

The holocaust was phenomenally shitty. No way around it. So is Gaza. So is Afghanistan. So is Guantanamo. Be a person today. Don't cash in on your victim demographic.

Which isn't how it's being done, that's what people complain about.

Let's give an example from World of Darkness because that's a fairly 'progressive' game line.

Good inclusivity = an example text about a bisexual vampire and his buddy drifting apart.
Bad example = Demon: The Descent's sidebars snidely berating players OOC about not liking artificial gender pronouns and Mpreg.

It's about nuance, and that's what I miss a lot.

Polyamory is fucking disgusting and wrong on the most basic of levels.
Poly is GREEK for many and Amor is LATIN for love. The bastardized etymology of polyamory is a fucking abomination I cannot stand for.
>>
>>44016403
Fuck you. Polyamory is natural and honestly I think it's beautiful. It represents the varied history of English's origin, England, and to an extent that of Europe as a whole; the infusion of Latin and Greek languages as a word to be used in a third arguably Germanic one is an exquisite example of the ways that languages continuously evolve and change with the tides of history. It is the natural result of conditions found in England, and nothing you can say will change that; you may as well be angry that the mountains pierce so high into the heavens.
>>
>>44016439
Polyamory is to normal relationships what a high school girl's social group is to actual friendship. It may be fun for the moment and it's definitely better than people outright lying about the normal thing (marriages build on mistrust and grudging duty). Ultimately though it isn't the same level of trust or implicit support as the real model.

Shoot them.

Castration would be a simple, cheap, and effective solution.

>What? Why would a board game ever be illegal?

I'll just leave pic related here...

Same for transexuals, really.
>>
>>44004100

>>44019251
actually, not really

"Chemical castration" is one of the worst dysphemisms I can think of. All it means is that they give you meds to suppress your sex drive, but it makes it sound like they're dipping your balls in battery acid.

Half of 'em.

That's some fucking footloose shit

I read that as "illegal border game"

I think it sounds cool, but honestly, I think I'd just laugh when I read the sign. I'm probably too young.
Like, that's pretty nifty, but I wouldn't think more about it. Most of the nazis were just doing their jobs, it's not like they enjoyed sending people to their certain death.

While I think it's a good idea and well executed:

>Some kids were playing it while drunk and being disrespectful. Romero stopped them.

Come the fuck on. They weren't getting emotional and blubbery playing your game? They made a joke of the situation or had a laugh and your taking it away from them? Fuck off.

Jesus they would chase me and my friends out with pitchforks.

Miscegenation is badwrongfun, son.

Some people.

I've got an Italian friend who won't play Bang with us because we all go full stereotype, but she not even she tries to stop us mid-game. Even when I go full blue-collar Irish Catholic family guinea eyetie mode.
>>
>>44024542
What the fuck who doesn't want to play Bang?

People should get over themselves. I myself am an Irish Catholic and that sounds fucking hilarious.

It's because you're autistic.
That's why you don't have emotional responses to imagination driven media.
It's because you are legitimately autistic.

Man, I still can't find that scene. Some people claim that the dialogue is real but the caps are wrong, others say that it's entirely fake, and nobody can point to the actual episode that it comes from and/or that the screencaps were pulled from.

She's Italian, I assume it gets grating quickly. Like if a black man were constantly bombarded by Uncle Ruckus, B from Naruto tier rapping, and watermelons.

As it should be, I paid good money to come to this stinking shithole to see a girl in green face paint sing my dick off, I don't want to also have to gouge my eyes out on the return trip

I would consider sexual reproduction the original traditional game (combat, social interaction, waifus, what more could you want?).
So yes, I see how this game in particular could be conducted illegally.

Episode is Grandpa's Bad Bug.
Dialogue is from King of the Hill.

I'm pretty sure that would create a probability curve, skewing results to the median compared to the flat probability of a single die.
I can't get AnyDice to simulate it properly and I'm too tired to work out the actual probabilities, so I may be wrong though
