Should i get into dropship commanders? Or is it dead?
>>
There's a thread right now, and there's a kickstarter campaign what are you on?
>>
What you should ask yourself is... do the minis come pre-painted?
>>
>>43959183
No there isn't.
>>
>>43959183
You're thinking of Dropfleet. Same universe and company though.

Op, like most mini games that aren't 40k you'll have to look for local games and be prepared to convince friends, possibly buying and setting up a starter box yourself.

*sigh* i might as well get into warhammer. Just wanted something that won't eat me out of a house. I'm a college student and i have some cash left over from my job so i thought it be great if i can dump some of the dosh on a fun little game.

You do know warhammer is incredibly fucking expensive and time consuming, right?

In fact, just about all wargaming is incredibly expensive and time consuming. It isn't something you pick up with a bit of spare cash on a whim. If you are going to get into a game, it takes a bit of an investment to get a proper army going, and the time and effort to build and paint them, so you may as well make sure you're getting into it for the right reasons.

Depends of the wargame. In the long run, the used cash is pretty much the same regardless of the game (you use what you can afford), but the starting costs varies hugely and it's much harder and expensive to complete a functional Warhammer 40k army. I doubt there are any statistics, but I guess most of budding 40k collections never get finished. Skirmish games are smaller in scale (as in fewer models) and require smaller starting investment (100€ is usually fine start) and fewer assembled and painted models to finish an army. Or, as the said DFC, smaller actual model scale let you have massed combat experience without having retarded huge and cumbersome collection of mandollies.

Chechis your local scene plays and consider your options. If you have no previous experience in wargames, starting two armies and selling the game for friends can be hard. Hope you like painting.

What I am saying is that all of them are expensive. You can't get around that, so don't pick one up lightly. Choose which one you want to play based on which one has rules you like the most, and models you would enjoy painting the most. If you follow the herd you will only end up feeling forced into a game you will not ultimately enjoy.

It is better to have a good game you can play rarely, then a shit game you can play whenever.

Don't get into 40k just because it's popular, please.

If you have friends, convince some of them to play with you, if you don't, please don't go with 40k anyway because the people you'll play in stores are awful subhumans.

40k is retardedly expensive and not really that good rules-wise. The only reason you choose it is if you're super-set on playing in stores, you really love the lore/models (pretty good reason imo) or you want to build your army from second-hand models off ebay.

Just please keep in mind that GW is bringing back the specialist games like Necromunda and Epic, and there is going to be several options for gaming that doesn't require as huge an investment in time and money as regular 40k.

I love the lore and i love warhammer, but i wanted something that was a little more friendly to my wallet. Plus the rules could be better. I might even get into infinity.
>>
>>43960847
Best game, but you need lots of terrain. Papercraft is an ok short time solution.
>>
>>43960910
i'd probably get laughed out of the store if i show up with paper craft army.
>>
>>43960910
Oh terrain ya sure i'll make some paper terrain.
>>
>>43961080
I would be ok with it

eh worth a shot

>Or is it dead?
This kind of question depends entirely on your local scene. It might be alive and kicking in Switzerland, but that doesn't help if you live in Louisiana.

But it's a small game, so the answer's very possibly that it was never alive in the first place where you live. Only you can discover that, though.

>tfw my gameshop only play warhammer, infinity,or starwars.
You know what fuck it im going to play starwars xwing that seems fun.

>fun
Enjoy collecting cards from packs you don't want.

Infinity is probably the best thing to start with.

You can get an army bought and built much faster, for much MUCH less than 40K. It has great rules, and though it's not as prolific as 40K, it's pretty well known in most local scenes and it has a playerbase with a much lower percentage of kids and retards.

Dropzone's a really cool game too, but it might be something to get into later, once you can convince some people to start up with you.

hmmm alot of peps in my gameshop play infinity. I really like the aesthetic and the models as well. I even like the mechanic of the reactive and active player. makes both player require to pay attention and figure out ways to stay out of the others radar.
