Remember when standard was "dominated" by mono B? That deck barely cracked like 18% of the metagame and was considered cancer at the time. Abzan at present is like 29% of the top 8 metagame, and the 2 decks holding it back the most are RDW and Jeskai, both of which get fucking shat on by lifegain or removal. This fucking knobsack is lifegain AND removal because it's got fucking deathtouch so trades up into anything. Or you could just Dromoka's Command and make it fight that 10/10 trampling double striking guy before it can deal a point of damage.

Well, the life deck was based around combining three groups of cards:
- creatures that gain toughness when targeted (Daru Spirtulist, Task Force)
- targeted abilities that cost 0 (various en-Kor creatures, Shuku)
- sacrificing a creature to gain life equal to it's toughness (Worthy Cause, Starlit Sanctum)
Once you have all the life, you can spend however long you want find your kill condition, such as Test of Endurance or Serra Avatar.

Azban player here. I really enjoy the deck as per the norm on top 8. Lots of utility, big creatures, speed, card draw, removal, you name it. Sure it's got some crappy match ups against Esper maybe or Dark Jeskai but on the whole pretty good. I really like almost every card in the deck except the two drops seem a bit sub par.
