In order for a naga's anus to pass out the back if their human half, their spine would literally have to be broken in half. If you extend a human tailbone, the tail falls behind the anus, not the other way around. This is why nagas depicted with rectums placed where a human's would be bother me so much, not because of any perceived indecision by the artist. For this reason, it makes much more sense for a naga to have its rectum where a snake's would be. Genetalia located where a human's would be is tolerable, however, because it's in the front, and therefore doesn't intersect with their fucking spine.

Fully scaly rather than just having a human torso on top of a snake body. Makes them look more distinct, and I don't really like there being a ton of monster races that basically boil down to "human torso stuck on an animal body". Driders get a pass because they're magically created from drow, and in my setting merfolk are actually an offshoot of elves (they're essentially sea elves fully adapted to aquatic lifestle) so it makes sense for them to have humanoid features, but the naga/lamia/snakepeople in my setting are supposed to be their own race that isn't really connected to humans or most other humanoids.
